Forever? No, most of them are at the end of their lifespan and there's an increasing amount of millennials entering Congress, with Gen Z starting to as well.

The frustrating part is our country isn't going to see real significant progress until the boomer & "Greatest" generation stop being the main policymakers because they're from a much earlier and far less tolerant time & societal culture. It shouldn't be, however he already did it to Andrew Warren, who filed a suit saying he was suspended because of his free speech, and the FLSC dismissed it claiming he waited too long to bring that case.

So he's already gotten away with it once, hopefully she'll fare better, however Warren's case was more damning because all he did was sign some sort of pledge to not enforce abortion laws to draconian standards, whereas with Worrell presumably the state is going to use her prosecution stats against her.

Yeah, when I learned about this I heard his audio justification and then hers, and it was super fucking weird hearing him bash her for "undercharging on gun crimes". Everything else he bitched about was typical right-wing bitching, however that one stood out to me.

Why? People behave irresponsibly with legally purchased firearms all the time. Lately it seems like all the well-known mass shootings were done with legally purchased/obtained firearms.

The fact that Chicago has very strict gun control laws is rather easily countered with their very close neighbor, Indiana, who has some of the loosest gun control laws in the nation.

Not difficult at all to take a 30-60 minute drive (if even that) to purchase a firearm legally.

There's literally 1100 posters currently browsing these boards, unless by some miracle, every one of us lived in the same state, city, county, we could never truly swing an election. So this notion that praising the will of these people in Ohio, or Georgia, or Minnesota, or Michigan, or Pennsylvania can somehow cause complacency is just asinine.

It's probably leftover trauma from 2016 when so many people were very confident in Clinton's ability to easily win the election, which ultimately helped Trump win because millions felt there was no need for them to vote.

You're right it probably won't affect much of us here, however I've always seen those kinds of posts as addressing society at large, even if they likely won't read the post. But hey, there's also lurkers, so who knows.

Trump has successfully delayed the trial by a week with a single not-tweet. If he manages to push this past the election and somehow wins, he's obviously pardoning himself and firing Jack Smith the moment he's inaugurated.

Trump's lawyers wanted to push it back to like the end of August and she gave them a timeline that will make it hard to represent Trump and go on right-wing media and shit it up.

We've never had a judge more on the up and up when handling Trump than Chutkan, she is absolutely not playing his game, however as shitty as Trump is he still has rights, and as a former defense attorney Chutkan is a good choice for the optics of fairness because she built her career on respecting the rights of defendants.

It may not matter for right-wingers (which I think may not even be the case, there is an increasing number of Republicans who claim they wouldn't vote for Trump if he was convicted. The ones who are honest about that have the potential for seeing the bare facts and realizing they can't support him anymore), however it absolutely matters for everybody else to be able to see the facts of the case and trial with the ability to judge for themselves, not through biased media snippets & forced opinions.

When the wealthy steal money it's usually hundreds of thousands to the millions, when the impoverished steal it's going to be in the hundreds of dollars to thousands, possibly tens of thousands if it's like a brand new car.

It's interesting that we live in a society where wealthy criminals who cause millions of dollars worth of harm are just considered "white collar" and treated with a gentle mentality, when someone trying to steal a used car worth maybe 4k has people saying they should be violently stopped, have draconian sentencing, and sometimes even killed for a crime that causes far less damage.
