Like half a second later I thought of Luffy who went through this a couple of months ago.

I haven't played many new games this year, but Baldur's Gate 3 is probably my favorite game of the last 4-5 years.

It's telling that in a series that's had 25 years of awesome moments, this one from from very early in the series is so enduring. It's really the first time that Luffy takes the initiative as the leader of the group, and the way that Zoro, Sanji, and Usopp fell in unflinchingly as Luffy began to storm towards Arlong Park was too cool for words. Easily one of the greatest moments in the series.

Dirty fucking cheater or no, Harbaugh's resume is way too good to go to the Raiders, who are mired in one of the worst phases in franchise history. Nah, Harbaugh's the kind of guy that a team mired in routine mediocrity (the Titans come to immediate mind) brings in to get them a couple of playoff wins down the line.

He's had "close but no cigar" success in the NFL and NCAA. He'll get to pick his spot, if he actually wants to go back to the NFL. I personally don't believe that he does but if they start talking about vacating wins, he'll probably follow suit like the aforementioned Pete Carroll and return to the NFL.

Either way, I was curious and wondered when the last US execution by hanging took place. Apparently, it was in Delaware in 1996. Incidentally, his was the last of three state-sanctioned hangings that happened in the US in the 1990s, after previously having had none since 1965.

Absolutely nobody should be humiliated for how they look, however, I don't believe that people should be misled into believing that obesity is "okay" for one's health because it most certainly is not. The thing about fat shaming though, is that it only exists to subject misery on the target. It's bullying by any other name and no, that's not acceptable.

But in the true context of the post, I agree. Main characters in ensemble shows (which battle shonen almost universally are) always have to have some traits that are lacking and/or better portrayed by other characters, which serves to broaden the range of characters to interact with and better defines what the main character isn't.

I didn't watch Hunter x Hunter but there's no fucking way that the MC's are the worst characters in the other four series. The only one that's even remotely debatable imo is Goku and that's because his ignorance and impulsiveness routinely jeopardizes the well-being of the people that he cares about the most.

No idea how Yusuke even makes the list lol. He's not even annoying like the others.

Indeed.

Although it's one of my least favorite Disney movies overall, The Hunchback of Notre Dame has several of my favorite musical numbers of the era. For everything else that the movie lacked, the music was exceptional and "Hellfire" is the rare villain song that's become the number most associated with the movie. (though as I implied, I think all of the songs were largely good-great)

The horse cart from Red Dead Redemption. Much like the aforementioned Warthog, many a good time was had dicking around in the cart with friends in co-op.

As for solo experiences, the VTOL jet from Saints Row 3 was pretty damn awesome.

i liked some up and coming american players but for one reason or another they don't play. like ja and zion. i like ant edwards but he seems super hit or miss sometimes (only watched his playoff games).

i've heard something about fundamentals being more of a big deal in europe. i remember in the 2022 finals, celtics couldn't dribble. they'd have the ball and just straight up lose control of it. i remember growing up kids used to love having good handles. maybe that's not a thing anymore.

I feel that "good handles" when I was a kid was defined more by how flashily you could break a defender than how effectively you could do so. Nothing wrong with the razzle dazzle but taking care of the ball should always be the priority, and I saw a lot of dudes sacrifice the latter in pursuit of the former.

No, really. Around 15 years ago, Stephen Curry entered the league and basically changed how the 3pt shot was viewed. Instead of a situational tool that wasn't the priority, his Warriors teams were defined by their 3pt shooting, specifically because he hit such an extraordinarily high percentage of them. Other teams followed suit and despite very few players making shots at a rate comparable to Curry's, teams figure that if they keep chucking them up, enough will fall that it justifies the other misses.

Flash forward to today and now you have guys who "really" shouldn't be shooting high volumes of threes doing so because it's the expectation of the modern game.

The inability to do just about anything defensively without getting whistled for a foul has also significantly changed the game.

Never mind the fact that every European crown that shaped the creation of the United States (namely, Britain, France, and Spain) was still adherent to the slave trade at the time the US Constitution was ratified. Abolitionism was just beginning to become a coherent, pan-national movement around the time that the current Constitution was drafted and it would be a couple of decades more before various circumstances (rebellions/wars) forced those nations to abolish the practice, and decades more still until they began to actually enforce it universally on their territories.

It was in the local news because our local amusement park has been owned by Cedar Fair for a couple of decades.

I'm going to chalk that up to inexperience from the grounds crew in converting a baseball diamond to a football field. I have no idea how often football games are played at Wrigley Field but I believe it's been decades since it was a regular thing (the Bears played there for decades before moving to Soldier Field in the 70s).

Hell, are there any full-time multi-use stadiums (not indoor arenas) in NCAA Div I or the pros? I think the Coliseum in Oakland is probably the last one that was regularly used like that, only ceasing when the Raiders moved to Las Vegas a couple of years back.
