Im not saying he is. Im saying that when it comes to antisemitism, my people have a tendency to be irrational. Theres an us against them thing born into our cultural identity. We even call ourselves the chosen people. And lest we forget, theres also the matter of our historical memory with the Holocaust, as well as in the United States you are seeing an alarming number of hate crimes against Jews in the last ten years.

So in Jamie Foxxs case, the critics of his post, those bothered by it, its not about the message or this single event. Its that the question exists regarding whether or not this is another example of a long list of similar events ranging from simple ignorance to complete hate from a very specific group of people. You can try to isolate Jamie from that group of people all you want, but in todays day and age given how unbelievably stupid people are especially on social media, Jamie has done something that was at least associated with something that he shouldnt be associated with.

Im not saying its rational or even that its Jamies fault. I genuinely take him at his word when he says his message was misunderstood. Im just giving you the lens to understand where the mindset came from that would cause alarm bells to ring for some people.

I will also add this. During the Civil Rights movement, there are plenty of examples of Jewish leaders standing with Dr. King against racism. African Americans and Jews also both know what its like to have a crazy white supremacist go into a house of worship and murder a bunch of innocent people simply because of their identities here in the US. In the Jewish mind, theres an idea that culturally we should be allies in the fight against hatred. So when you have the other black celebrities spewing antisemitic nonsense, theres also a WTF factor in that too, because you dont really see it going the other way here.

But, I think everyone who stands against hate can agree that when it comes to stamping it out, zero tolerance means exactly that, and I think social media has proven that the offended gets to decide whats offensive, not the other way around. Its probably a double standard at this point, but when it comes to cultural identity disputes, when is it not?

Heres the skinny as I see it. Jamie Foxx is a victim of his own skin tone. At first glance, I dont see anything wrong with the post, although the accusation of deicide has historically been attached to my people since the Great Revolt. Christianitys message of Christ as a savior was directly tied to the misfortune of Jews after Christs death pretty early on.

However, I think in this case, if someone of my faith/culture (whatever word we are using) was offended, it stems from the fact that here we have another African American celebrity either by ignorance, accident, or intent, attaching himself to yet another antisemitic trope on social media. And if you look at it from that perspective, well you cant blame some of us, given our history, from being a little paranoid.

Thats my two cents as to what that is. Its probably a little silly, but given the Kanye West, Kyrie Irving, even the Desean Jackson stuff, and given that antisemitic acts in the US are on the rise, its easy for some to jump to conclusions.

So again, I dont see anything inherently dangerous there. But I understand why some would.

You can bend and twist the stats many ways. You can count the percentage of black millionaires in the USA, compare to the percentage of black Millionaires in the countries that slaves were taken from. since the Percentage is higher in the USA, you could infer that living in the USA was a BENEFIT to black people.

You could also look at Average Black income, with the USA and the Countries of Africa. the USA is higher, so it was a benefit to move here.

So you could bend the stats, anyway you want. the fact that killing people, kidnapping, raping, and torture, should be against the law, no matter the color of your skin. I assume such nasty stuff was done to them, we could not even Image the torture that went on.
