I love them all for different reasons, with Rises having enough going on that Im just in and can ignore all the nonsense. Yeah, they're still great, but I prefer Burton's style. I agree with that actually. For some reason it was the only Bond movie I never saw and I've been a fan since I was a kid. Saw it many years later and I really dug it. It has some of the silliest moments, but also some very strong serious moments in it too. The plot is pretty "real" and dark. Goldfinger is the worst thing that could have happened. Dr. No and From Russia With Love were mostly heightened spy movies, after Goldfinger hit the movies were off to the circus. Yeah, it started the typical Bond formula. I still love it, but I vastly prefer the previous two movies over it as well and they are the most spy-like. Dr. No deserves more love and FRWL is in my top 3. The Pierce Brosnan films are action films, not spy movies. And they wasted Michelle Yeoh. True and true. Still like them though. Goldeneye is still one of the best. The films should have limited continuity and just be episodic. The attempt at an arch through the Craig films is off putting, to me. Never cared for that either. I'd love if they go back to the old loose continuity. license to kill is a Miami vice episode only uglier and more cheaply made than 80s TV. But what a cast! It's very much like any 80s action movie and it's very MV-like and that might be why I like it so much. EON should abandon the 007 franchise. They're so apologetic about the sexism, racism, and homophobia of the old films that the James Bond name has become a liability rather than an asset. They're better off to introduce a new character and market them as being, "From the studio that brought you Casino Royale and Skyfall..." I feel if done right, they could go back to the 50s/60s and have Bond be a gritty, flawed hero. Temple of Doom is the best Indiana Jones movie. A lot of the older dumber James Bond movies (Diamonds are Forver, Man With The Golden Gun, A View To a Kill, etc.) are still good. | Southernfatman 09/08/23 8:35:28 AM #31 | I don't hate sports, it just isn't my thing. I used to watch a little bit of football, baseball, and basketball when I was a kid, but it never stuck. I always liked playing sports games with the neighborhood kids and stuff, but I never could watch them.
Sports does have the worst fan bases EVER though. Obviously not every sports fan is bad, but there are way too many bad ones. The rabidness, the riots, the toxic masculinity, the fights, the complete obnoxiousness...People have been hurt and killed over their goddamn sports ball. Torgo posted... I don't hate sports... I think watching most sports is boring. I also think we emphasize the importance of sports way too much as a society, and a large part of that is the amount of time, money and resources we put into sports at the k-12 and collegiate level. This too. So many schools will have immaculate football fields and jerseys, but will have books that are falling apart and ancient, barely running computers. I feel the site has gotten a lot better when it comes to discussing politics and Republicans. Remember when you would get modded for calling them out for what they are? I'm not 100% on this, but I feel there were at least a couple of pretty far right mods in the past who were biased when doing their moderating as well.
I was modded in the past for trashing Republicans/American conservatives and there weren't any nazi comparisons or anything like that in my posts. Some total BS moderations. Some of the worst users seemed to be almost "protected' as well because they would get a billion chances of supposedly being "reformed" instead of being banned as they should have been. I don't really see or hear of that kind of thing much anymore if ever. When I got to her she really wasn't that hard. Sure, I was a pretty high level and using Mimic Tear and Blasphemous Blade, but they don't really compensate enough for my crappy dodging skills and slow reflexes and I was using them when I first fought her that took about 50 tries to finally beat her. Did they nerf her or did I finally get marginally better?
