This really depends on if mandatory overtime is communicated in advance or not. I used to work at a place where mandatory overtime would just occur at random and people were forced to stay despite the fact that it was never scheduled ahead of time.

It is communicated when you get hired and in the job description that you have to stay overtime, but you don't really know if you're gonna run over until it happens. You can kinda predict it because there are days where theres a lot on the calendar, or you know you have a trial or something you should probably make arrangements to stay late or have childcare(idk why you would work a job in a busy city and not have childcare to begin with as anything can happen tbh)

Just the worst part of it is when you do stay late you are paid pretty much pennies, so having to stay late for someone else makes it sting lol. We have our mandatory pension program, taxes, etc.. taken out, so if you're making like 50k a year, and you have to stay an extra 30 minutes, you'll get like 10 bucks if you press the issue to get compensated monetarily, or you can get 30 minutes of comp time which is also a pain in the ass form to fill out, so often it's not really worth it.

if they can't find anyone to cover you pretty much have to stay I think. What's supposed to happen is that you have to notify management that you can't stay way ahead of time, and if there's no coverage and you still can't stay, you have to use your personal leave time

and then always complain they can't stay late, so it gets pushed off on other people lol.

Mandatory overtime being sometimes court runs longer than 4:30, you're SUPPOSED to stay if your courtroom is going over but people are just saying at the last minute that they can't stay late, and of course nobody else wants to really stay late either especially with such short notice, so someone has to be the unlucky one. People should start getting written up for that shit >_>

I started saying no recently too, other peoples poor planning is not going to become my issue, i have enough on my plate as it is

honestly you don't even have to build that much to get through the game, i'm at like 14 hearts, master sword, hylian shield, 2 batterys, 2 stamina bars and i only use ultrahand when the game forces me to, which is usually just shrines

yeah ngl i'd hate my life if after spending all day working i'd have to come home and deal with kids and maybe have 20 minutes of free time until it's time to sleep, but some people enjoy that, more power to them

Yeah sounds like a personal issue for them, most of my friends at work are women and i have a work wife and prob several work besties(well also the demographics of my job skews mostly towards women anyway so it was bound to happen) and i never once felt scared to interact with anyone, at any job i've had.
