I'm not new to DLC, only to Nintendo/Switch type DLC since the Wii didn't have it nor did I have to pay for online.

With Sony and ps3/ps4 at least they constantly had sales where entire game collections dropped to like $20 with all DLC included.

But it's one thing to charge that price for an actual game like mario or zelda, but for... just a bunch of playable characters and 1 or 2 new stages they're charging the price of an entire game? The fuck? Am I missing something the product description isn't saying? This goes beyond just "the Nintendo tax"

So wouldn't you prefer a console try and win you over with cool features or something instead of holding cool games hostage? In one of these scenarios, you win. my state has summons and warrants, on a summons theres typically no bail unless you bench warrant, in which you prove you can't be trusted to show up anyway and even then you tend to get released on recognizance anyway unless you have a particularly horrible history, and on warrant complaints you get arrested and a judge determines based on several factors if you're a flight risk or to release you on monitoring conditions.

I still find myself buying a lot of steam games but i haven't actually sat down and played my deck for a substantial amount of time in... a while. Idk i don't have a long commute to work nor do i get a lot of time at work to play with it so it kinda falls to the wayside, and when i'm home i'd rather just play on my gaming PC

its a very popular misconception, i have both and i'd say very rarely does steam deck play a game "better". Hell TOTK on the deck still struggles with 20fps and only recently did BOTW achieve 30.

Still 18k people playing it according to steam charts on PC. I know y'all desperately wanted the game to be a failure, but at some point ya just have to move on

It's not about that, the Steam Deck makes the Switch look like shit by playing all its major games better for free. Those are potential lost sales every time they release a game, and Nintendo's profits are in their exclusive software.

Sony/MS don't have this issue since the Deck isn't strong enough to emulate their recent consoles well. But Nintendo's way behind on hardware.

Sony/MS games are available on PC, why would it need to emulate them?

And since the steam deck is a PC, you could say the same thing about emulating switch games on a PC, also your post is suggesting piracy fyi.

nah nintendo is used to shutting stuff down but they've mostly left emulators alone
However the tears of the kingdom leak was the last straw and they have been shutting down everything. I wouldn't be surprised if they come for Yuzu and Ryujinx next
