I think I'd be okay if there was a compromise where it's like a reverse touchback and the offense keeps the ball but gets backed up to the 20 (opponent 20, so 20 yards back)

That feels like such a weird move. It's a lateral move OC to OC but why would you leave the Chiefs for anywhere else? That's gotta be like the most fun offense to play with with lol.

DRV3 3-4: My understanding is the same as Leon's. Kokichi got Gonta to do it based on what he showed him, but because the wires were plugged in wrong, once locked out Gonta didn't remember anything that happened while they were in the game. So, yeah, the Gonta attending the trial didn't realize he killed Mio but that's because he doesn't remember *anything* that happened there.

As for 3-4 as a whole, I liked the mystery because it was neat using the game mechanics to try and piece together the crime but I felt the whole Kokichi/Gonta reveal was weak as hell. Obviously the point is to make you think what Gonta saw, etc. so it's for setting things up later but as a mystery goes it's just lame IMO.

Yeah, I finished Rya's quest - assuming that her letter is the end of it. The rare NPC who leaves you better than they found you!

As for the Frenzied Flame nah probably not... although there was a note in one of those "have to bait the enemy into attacking to destroy the environment" bits on the platforming on the way down there that basically said "there's this item that lets you cheat the system by having you take in the flame but not become the Lord of Chaos" so maybe I can screw over another evil faction like Dung Eater lol I don't actually have it though so I'd have to find it first.

Elden Ring: Leyndell finished. Volcano Manor finished. Mountaintop of the Giants probably beated. Also Moghwyn Palace finished.

First though, I think I forgot some NPC stuff last time so I'll just lead with NPC stuff. Back when I was in Leyndell that seamster guy showed up again and I was finally able to give him a needle that I think I picked up all the way back in Liurnia. The option wasn't showing to give it to him back when he was there but now it did so whatever. He was talking about feeling ugly again and wanting to be reborn but having seen how being reborn worked for everyone else over there that seemed like a bad idea for anyone who doesn't have the Great Rune like me. Now, those items that let you talk I assume are mostly there for multiplayer comedy purposes, but since I try to read item descriptions for a good deal of stuff I noticed that one had an extra blurb on it the others didn't have - the "You're beautiful" one. It actually seemed to mesh with his story so I used it by him and wow that actually worked. He swore his undying loyalty to me.

Millicent met me over in Mountaintop of the Giants on her quest then disappeared again. Goldmask and Scribe showed up here too and the Scribe is really not thrilled that they're in a forbidden land and he's starting to doubt this is a great idea. Actually had the option to give him the memory drug meant for Rya but like with her doesn't feel right to do so. They're still chilling there last I checked. Also met Shabriri who is... possessing Yura's corpse and actually made a convincing sales pitch for saving Melina who is very obviously planning to sacrifice herself between asking the Roundtable crew what to do about the Erdtree blocking the path and being able to talk to Melina about *that* and her basically going "Don't worry about that, I got it covered." unfortunately he kinda undercuts it at the end when he starts screaming "May chaos take the world!" like a maniac.

Anyway, with Morgott down I continue on my original quest to finish the Volcano Manor assassinations. Once I return Tanith says I can meet Rykard and teleports me... to the boss fog I made my way to conventionally. I have no real idea what I was doing in this fight but the spectacle of swinging giant laser spears around was cool I guess. After that, Volcano Manor basically disbands. That one knight guy made a show of it and I'm guessing he's gone for good because his sword was left behind to act as his shop. Patches decided to bail too. And Tanith... Tanith has had better days since she is now choosing to eat Rykard's corpse.

So, uhhhh... over to the Mountaintop of the Giants then. Kind neat place but pretty desolate, I mean, makes sense that it is and it looks pretty and all but eh. Seems bigger than it is and I eventually make my way to the Fire Giant who gets me a few times before I realize that his weak point is that one leg. After I realize that I take him down the next time. Which makes more sense than it being a massive HP check lol. At the Forge of the Giants it sounds like we have to make a ~big decision~ so I tell Melina to wait so I can do literally everything else lol.

I head to the other Morgott seal in the sewers and it's neat that Melina realizes what's going on and is like "this is a real bad idea. please stop." A short platforming bit later (the real challenge of this was getting the enemies to break the environment to free up some items that were otherwise unobtainable because I can't break them for some reason) and I'm presumably at the spot Mac warned me about. Hyetta is here too and yeah based on her comments and Mac's spoiler this is it. So we bail here.

Next I go back to Mohgwyn Palace and... wow I actually explored the whole area before and the site of grace calling itself the "halfway point" is a goddamn liar because quite literally the boss is right there after it. We beat Mohg and whoa that was a lot of runes.

Finally, while exploring the Mountaintop I got the other half of the other elevator medallion and use it to enter the Consecrated Snowfield. Oh... Oh I don't like this place. Can I make the snowstorm go away? When I just gunned it on Torrent to grab the map for this place I noticed it eventually clears up once you go far enough in but what about the first area? Exploring that area is going to be a huge pain if it doesn't since you're basically blind. And that's where I am now.

America's most watched cable "news" network everyone.

Murdoch telling the CEO to focus on winning the Georgia Senate for Republicans "any way we can" and getting into batshit election fraud theories with their source being an email from someone who thought they were a ghost and that Scalia was murdered in a "human hunting expedition"

More in the thread as well, like Tucker calling Trump a "demonic force" who could "destroy" him if he stepped out of line. As well as Fox calling AZ ruining their "golden goose."

Glad to see that embarrassing episode over with.

At least the Dem State Senators were united in sinking this even if Hochul, the machine, and even NY dems in national dem leadership (like Jeffries) had the weirdest obsession and loyalty to him. There were 3 declared LaSalle supporters among Dems. 2 weren't even there for this vote and the remaining one was the only other Dem defector (joined by all the GOP.)

As for the vote, after LaSalle failed in the Senate Judiciary committee the Democrats considered the nomination dead. Hochul threatened to sue them saying they were required to give him a vote of the full Senate. Before she could file that suit, the Senate GOP did so for her.

Hochul finally released a statement giving up after getting blown out here but still shilled for LaSalle by saying this vote wasn't really a vote about LaSalle's qualifications.

Yeah, that's more LOL Jets to me.

I mean, it's an upgrade but I feel like even Carr would be a better upgrade. And while it was a long shot Lamar was definitely the best option.

I prefer Tannehill to Rodgers (like obviously not for football ability but just Rodgers on the Jets would make it hard for me to feel great about them) but otherwise bleh. Like if the plan is Tannehill as a backup, sure, but do you really give up two picks for a backup lol?

Elden Ring: Rest of (?) Volcano Manor explored. Most of (?) Leyndell explored.

Turns out I was probably more than halfway through Volcano Manor. Eventually fought my way to a boss fog gate and called the exploration. Did the second Manor request as well. Then we had some family drama. Rya was suspicious of there being more to the Manor than it appeared so I told her what Tanith told me and then showed her an item I found in the dungeon part and she left. When I told Tanith (because she can't be bothered to check down the hall I guess) she gave me a memory drug to give to Rya to make her forget anything unpleasant. Actually finding Rya was the tough part but I eventually did and she vaguely hinted that there's some dark secret behind her birth... beyond being a big snake? I had the option to give her the memory tonic but I have not - seems kinda sus but it's also Souls so maybe I have to? Thing is not doing super sus things actually pays off for me... later in this update.

Anyway, the final Manor request tells me my target is in the Mountaintop of the Giants which is a place I've never been. Looks to be east/northeast of Leyndell though so beyond there probably. One of the other Manor guys wants me to help on a job of his and his targets are in Leyndell itself so really I had no other place to go but Leyndell.

Pretty cool place to explore. I find a path that seems to lead out east but it is sealed (invisibly?) with a message saying Morgott is sealing it. Welp, guess I have to beat him first. Skipping past a lot of the more mundane explore commentary (though finding the real world version of the Roundtable Hold was cool) towards the end of it I find Goldmask and my ex-priest trainer. Huh, guess Goldmask really is alive. But apparently he's stuck on something about Radagon and the scribe is mad about it. When I was actually looking for a site of grace because I felt one was probably due and wow just gonna spawn a boss on me, huh. Godfrey, the First Elden Lord. Seems to be a pretty lore important figure to drop on me as a boss with no fog gate! Though technically his defeat means there was a Site of Grace due around here lol. Some platforming and I get a new prayerbook in the school that Goldmask follows so I head over to give it to my ex-although-still-kinda-active trainer. I also find a message at a statue telling me "Regression reveals the truth." This combined with one of those spells from that book being called "Law of Regression," and my Turtle Bro back in Liurnia hinting at a sus statue that fits the deal here lead me to learn the spoiler(?) that Radagon is Marika. I report this back to Goldmask and his scribe and this solves his hangup though the scribe has no idea how this works. The boss fog gate is very near here and I assume Morgott is here.

So I U-turn back to the city and head down the well (I'm lying I dropped down here earlier and got the Site of Grace but like North Caelid this place was a clear difficulty spike so after that I went back and dealt with the rest of Leyndell before returning.) This place was less fun to explore if only for testing my ability to keep a mental map of the sewer in my head. The big ogre guys hit super hard too. Eventually I just took to powering the Dark Moon Greatsword and laser'ing them to beat them fast. It helped that I got a 4th Accessory slot in Leyndell though I put the one that dampens all sounds on it so I could stealth more easily to backstab them. It feels like a waste because I could mostly do the same with crouching but it's a nice QoL thing.

Also find the Dung Eater's real body down here (bouncing between chatting with him and giving some items I found in Leyndell advances his quest. He challenges me to a duel, kills my crab vendor, and then dies in the most ironic way when his duel aggros a giant crab which finishes him off lmfao) and he decides to recruit me in his atrocity fest. Only he made a key mistake and this is where I get to pull a swerve. So Seluvius was a creep with a puppet dungeon that he makes no secret he was abusing so I never gave his mystery drug to Nepheli so I still had it. And then it pops up as an option to give to the Dung Eater instead of the Seedbed things he wants. And that's one less evil in this world. I can even buy his puppet from Seluvius's shop lol.

Progressing further through the sewers I make it to a surprising boss (who also was rude and had no fog gate) Mohg, the Omen. This shouldn't be the real one based on other info I have from Varre's quest and just that area in general plus he doesn't drop a Great Rune so I'm not sure what's up here. I try to jump on the altar behind him after the fight and wtf it was a hidden wall. Unfortunately the path beyond is also blocked by Morgott.

So I think the only real thing left for me to do is fight him. Oh, right, Melina also left to check on the Erdtree or something.

Didn't energy prices spike temporarily because of the uncertainty caused by the explosion? I feel like that's an outcome you don't get if it's "merely" the pipeline never turning on.

Though I have no idea who is responsible or even if it was intentional instead of just incompetence like a botched maintenance.

Elden Ring: Deeproot Depths beated.

Epilogue to Ranni's Quest. I actually made one last circuit of her area since it has already shown itself capable of spawning previously not-there sites of grace and oh snap I can talk to Ranni at the site that popped up in her room earlier. If I'm reading her right her plan is that having the actual gods/demigods in the world itself is a bad idea and she's going to take over and just leave.

Over at Deeproot Depths... Took me an embarrassingly long time to notice I could use Torrent here LOL. This became much more tolerable once I realized that. Not too much to tell on the exploration front. Found an alternate means into Ainsel River Main, I guess for people who aren't following Ranni's quest and eventually made my way over to the bosses. First Fia sending a bunch of weak summons at me. Told her I just wanted to be friends again and she asked for the Cursemark I found on Ranni's real body at the Tower of Liurnia. A bunch of resting at the site of grace to advance her dialogue later and I ended up fighting a dragon. But he melted under the assault of two Dark Moon Greatswords firing lasers at him. Then I got the Mending Rune of Death (or something like that) and more advancing things at grace and LOL D's brother showed up and hammed up killing Fia to avenge his brother. ...I guess she had it coming? Advancing again and he apparently died offscreen because I got his gear.

Back at Volcano Manor. I completed the first request and grabbed the letter for the second. Also Patches dumped his job on me so I did his. Before I left for the second one (still have not done it) I found Rya and well I guess she's a giant snake. I guess Tanith and I are the only non-racists against snake people though. Then while I did more resting at grace to advance stuff/see if anything else would happen the weirdest thing happened. I accidentally triggered and illusory wall in one of the side rooms. I've triggered plenty by rolling into them where things looked suspicious but I swear I didn't roll at all here so I have no idea what happened. My only idea is that since I only recently started using the Dark Moon Greatsword its resting position is carried over the shoulder so like... maybe it touched it and that counts? I wouldn't think it would but somehow the wall went down and I found my way into the actual dungeon part of this place.

Don't think I want to fully complete this however because I'm guessing Tanith will stop giving me quests and rewards if I do. So I think I'll try to advance until I hit a boss fog wall. Just beat a Godskin Noble. I'd explore more but Super Bowl time so it'll have to wait for later.

The BBC has taken a hard turn into trash in recent years IIRC. I used to know more of the background on why (I think there actually was a pivotal moment there or something) but I don't feel like doing the research on it again to refresh myself.

But yes among other things they've been platforming anti-trans views, often uncontested, of late to my knowledge and it was an intentional decision from the top brass.

Edit: Beaten. The Cameron thing might have been the pivotal moment I was thinking of.

Elden Ring: In which we do Ranni's sidequest aka everyone I love (and Seluvis) is dead... *but there's a wedding~!*

I head over to the impact site to head down to Nokron. See a message left behind by Blaidd telling me he's hunting down traitors so to head on without him. Iji had previously told me that Blaidd was given an emergency task so I guess this is it. Descending into Nokron rather than just riding an elevator is pretty cool. oh no they're riding the giant ants now. Also lots of metal slimes. Also man the slimes and ants (especially the ants) with like a rock shield on their head are annoying to fight. Not so much difficult (well, multiple ants like this can be) as just tedious. The (mid?) boss is a Mimic Tear who copies me. Pretty easy fight except the one time he landed a special on me yikes that took off a huge chunk of HP. Now I have a small taste of how the enemies must feel when I get fed up and just spam that sword skill to make things die. Past here the path ends up splitting - one way leads to a coffin that sends us to Darkroot Depths but since what I'm looking for is supposed to be in Nokron I turn around and continue and eventually get the Fingerslayer Blade.

I return to Ranni with my prize in hand and she's like "Great, thanks. I'm off now" without giving me another task. I go around and find that the murdering has begun with Seluvis dead. (The traitor Blaidd was hunting?) also that merchant in the Manor, Pidia, got murdered by his dolls. Actually, there a connection there? Seluvis was a creep with his dolls so this doesn't feel like a coincidence. While Ranni didn't explicitly give me a task (she did give me an item that let me flip the tower near the real Liurnia Tower allowing me to get there though), a new Site of Grace popped up where she used to be when I rested at grace to see if it'd update her as it often does for NPCs. It points me to the sealed third tower up here that is now open and it contains a teleporter. It leads us to the previously unreachable spots in Ainsel River. I also find a mini-Ranni and resting at Grace lets me talk to it(!!). LOL, sorry Ranni but the game giving me this option is too suspicious of course I would try it a few times. She gets all tsun and tells me to kill a shadow down here. Down here turns out to be Nokstella and she tells me some backstory along the way at Sites of Grace. The shadow looks like Blaidd and actually got me once. Get him on the runback and Ranni congratulates me and tells me it's goodbye for real and to tell Iji and Blaidd she loves them. Well, that's ominous.

She also gives me a key whose description points me to the locked treasure chest all the way back at Raya Lucaria so I teleport over there and open it. It's a wedding ring~. Too tsun to propose directly I see. Unfortunately I can't tell Iji that Ranni loves him so I go looking for Blaidd who apparently wasn't actually that shadow. I make a circuit of the places I remember seeing him and... oh my god he's trapped in an Evergaol. I let him out and it turns Iji stuck him in there. Based on Ranni's story about where he came from I see Iji's reasoning (he gives it himself when I ask him about it) and Blaidd says he's off to check on Ranni but isn't at her tower and I can't tell him "actually some shit happened while you were gone."

So I head back to where Ranni and I parted ways because the path goes farther. Oh, okay, From is just trolling with their love of swamps now with this Lake of Rot. Liurnia was one thing but this is just literally a massive ocean of scarlet rot dotted with tiny islands to stand on they're not even trying! Making our way past here (and raising some platforms) we come to a boss - Astel. That could have gone very bad but we make our way past him to an elevator that leads me... to the other place in Liurnia I couldn't make it to - the Moonlight Altar. After fighting some dragons (and an assassin) we find our way to a church that has seen better days and drop into a hole to find Ranni went and murdered her way to the Two Fingers. Did this battle start in the church and go underground or was it just always in bad shape? Heck of an offscreen fight if this was all the collateral. I'm able to put the ring on Ranni's finger which triggers her to reappear and *schedule the wedding~* but apparently I have to become Elden Lord first anyway or like she has stuff to do so she says I may as well continue.

So, with dread in my heart I once more check in on my friends. Iji is the same as ever but over at Ranni's Tower Blaidd is having a very bad day. He killed the assassins sent after him and isn't taking news of his origin well and attacks me. oh no. I beat him even though I don't want to. Then I return to Iji to inform him of this turn and oh god he's not taking this well either. I rest at the Site of Grace next to him and oh god I don't even have to leave the menu to see he's been moved to a burning corpse right in front of me. God this is not going to be easy to explain to Ranni.

And that's where I left off on that. I did some other tasks too during all this jumping around like activate the lift to Altus and work on Sellen's quest which went some places. She fake dies but gave me her phylactery and that works on the Sellen doll Seluvis had in his creep dungeon alluded to by one of the info things you can buy from a merchant. I follow her to Raya Lucaria and find two summon symbols where I have a choice to help her or help her would-be killer. She's my teacher and even though I'm thinking "uhh the Carian Royal Family you can't possibly mean-" so I help her and she deposes Ranni's mom. And I'm like "oh my god I helped someone murder Ranni's mom this is going to be *even harder* to explain to Ranni" but I'm also skeptical because Ranni's mom was the respec merchant so I rest at grace and she's just fine again and Sellen turned into a ball. Well, that kinda sucks for her but I'm in the clear!

I also failed to report on one other NPC task I was given during my NPC circuit. Varre wanted me to soak a cloth in the blood of a maiden and why are 80% of the people I talk to so *weird* (and the other 20% now dead or Ranni) but I remember there was a corpse of one at a church in Liurnia so I go check it out and wouldn't you know it works so I guess we could do that relatively guilt free. Then apparently the triangle prompt agreed to way more than I thought because what the hell did he just do to me there. He gives me an item that says will teleport me to Mohg but it is not yet time and I'm like "Well, buddy, I feel like the bonds of trust between us are well and truly shot now and also you put this in my consumable items and the Use button works so this was your fuck up and I teleport to the Mohgwyn Palace. Okaaaaaay, this is definitely a high level place LOL. I learned that from some basic exploring around. Advanced to a grace site that said it was the halfway point and stopped there because I really don't think I'm supposed to be here and while I can push through so far maybe it's better to later.

So, my options for progression seem to be: Leyndell, play around with Volcano Manor some more because I've ignored their request still, Darkroot Depths because I got so caught up in Ranni's quest I never went back here yet, or... Moghwyn Palace? Thinking Darkroot Depths to at least see what it's like. Maybe it's like Moghwyn Palace and I realize I should probably save it for later but I don't even know that much yet. After that, probably Volcano Manor?

Since we're talking about the more general discourse around this outside this topic, I'll mention something that I think is just really tiring and maybe a bit responsible for some of the frustration - I'm seeing a lot of the same people who, for example, during the George Floyd protests and calls for Abolish the Police were saying things (in response to "Guys this doesn't poll well, people are going to run to the Republicans" like "Fuck the optics, it isn't the role of activists to make sure everything they do is messaged perfectly, that's for the politicians.", "Working within the system normally hasn't worked.", "The whole point is to disrupt people's lives and call attention to the issue." but now when it's Hogwarts Legacy it's, Whoa, whoa, whoa. You guys gotta stop this and take a look around. Do you see how this looks? It's setting back the movement!" and it's just fucking exhausting seeing the naked hypocrisy.

Not saying that's true of anyone here but it's hard not to let that frustration bleed into responses when seeing that argument even if the hypocrisy component isn't necessarily present.

Honestly the "four point scale" of 7-10 is annoying and we should welcome people actually using the entire spectrum because it devalues the worth of the rating if you don't!

I wasn't talking about the pipeline at all so it'd be weird if I said anything at all about it. I was discussing Hersh's descent into chasing baseless conspiracies with conflicting internal narratives and based on threadbare sourcing and how it suggests he is absolutely no longer a credible source these days.

Hersh is also 85 years old now and not the same guy who reported on the My Lai Massacre.
There's a lot of conspiracy holes he went down in his later life.

-That the US staged the killing of Bin Laden
--He alleges Pakistan and Saudi Arabia captured him in 2006, tried to sell him to us in 2010, but then they insisted we fake the raid and multiple diplomatic incidents to cover the staging despite it being humiliating to them to make it look like we went in and killed him without their approval when they could have just like... dumped in Afghanistan in the middle of US Troops or something. The story that he was dumped at sea was a lie - he was actually torn apart by machine gun fire and what little remained was tossed from the helicopter.

-Syria's use of chemical weapons was actually a false flag and it was Turkey
--This was after he changed his story from saying it was AQ terrorists that Obama intentionally looked the other way on to justify intervention.

-That the top military brass in the Pentagon formed a secret alliance with Assad and Putin to undermine Obama's policy in Syria, and he approved of this! (Biggest red flag IMO wrt this story since it's approving of Putin)
--He bases this all off a single anonymous sources and quotes people like Gabbard to assert that Assad and Putin were really just trying to fight ISIS and we should join them.

Like the only reason to believe him here is because "he was right about My Lai and Abu Ghraib!" when everything points towards him falling into conspiracy nonsense after that.

I believe I heard somewhere that, by doing this, the state is actually going to come out worse fiscally than they would if they kept things as they are. Does anyone know if there's truth to that.
The original plan, IIRC, was to simply dissolve the district which to my understanding means the state would have assumed all the debts and financial obligations that currently Disney holds there and that indeed was going to massively burden the state and taxpayers.

The version just voted on keeps the district in place, but essentially puts it under the governor's control, and has language in it that basically reads, "Oh and Disney 100% still holds all the debt and shit" so I'm not sure there'd be an impact on the rest of the state.

DeSantis seizing control of Reedy Creek (Disney's district) because they had the gall to speak out (kinda) about Don't Say Gay.

I know we talked about it when they floated the idea but now the votes are happening.

Florida's House voted today to make it so that DeSantis appoints all the members of the board as well as changing the district name to "Central Florida Tourism Oversight District." Efforts by Democrats to amend it so some of the board was appointed by the full Cabinet and the rest by local officials from the surrounding districts were all killed.

But why is one game a bellweather for how someone feels about an issue? Like, to use an earlier example from this topic, by using the same logic you could say that someone who saw Top Gun Maverick personally supports scientology. People are making Hogwarts Legacy way too much of an arbitrary line, and it's going more harm than good.

I say this as someone who actually wants to play the game but is going to "buy it used" so that my money doesn't support Rowling.
Personally I'd say it's a matter of how public and vocal a figurehead JKR is on the matter of anti-trans legislation and dehumanization. Cruise isn't quite the same for Scientology, I think. But maybe I'm poorly informed on the matter. (Because it may come up - no I have not watched Top Gun Maverick but I also have no interest in doing so so I wouldn't call it some kind of stand on my part. I have looked at films with Cruise in them with a very sus eye the past, what, 10, 15 years though.)

It's not incorrect to state that basically as a consequence of capitalism that any purchase is going to eventually contribute to your money going someone bad eventually. And that for certain things, like cellphones for instance, you're basically compelled by society to support companies with atrocious working conditions simply because cellphones have become such a vital part of life.

So I guess that all boils down to me saying the line is admittedly very arbitrary despite that being an unsatisfactory answer. Like I said in my first post I think each person has to draw that line for themselves. And FWIW like I said I don't like declare my line is the line or that anyone crossing it is guilty of supporting transphobia. In a vacuum I don't even really consider it a sign of anything at all. It's just that depending on the circumstances around it I may use it to be a bit more wary of someone in what they self-describe as, that's all. It's not like I am passing an unrevokable sentence on anyone.

You know what doesn't help the trans community? Harassing and shaming people, and spoiling the game for others. Maybe it makes you feel better, but it doesn't change anyone's mind. I see a lot of that on twitter. And it drives people into the arms of anti-trans people who will have their undivided attention.

I think it's worth discussing the problematic parts of Harry Potter. Even fans discuss it. And if you don't want to buy the game, that's a fantastic personal choice. You can even ask other people not to buy the game or other harry potter merchandise. But I see too many people going further than that. It feels just as spite-based as the people who say they're buying 3 copies.

And no, none of that is worse than what the trans community faces. But since when did a lesser wrong right a greater wrong?
I posted this on Discord where we were discussing the boycott and issues around it and basically sums up my thoughts on it.

Yeah, it's a bit hard for me to tell how much this was (probably good intentioned) people coming off way too strong or anti-trans victim complex but personally absent more information I personally do not assume someone who buys Hogwarts Legacy is a transphobe or anything like that. I'll feel disappointed, but that's about it. It's only when more context comes in that I'll start forming more concrete judgments. (Did you know about JKR's stances? Are you being an asshole and intentionally flaunting your support of the game in a way that clearly signals you know?)

But like even if you knew about JKR and bought the game anyway even then I'm not really jumping to transphobia. It's just, my sense of disappointment shifts from a more vague "Sucks that JKR is benefiting from that purchase" to a more "Oh, okay, so probably gonna be sus about this person's conviction on trans rights going forward."

And bear in mind, it's not just the other characters saying that, which could simply be a reflection of their shitty views. But I said 'the book's framing' for a reason, because the narration also treats Hermione like she's an idiot. She is, by word of god, in the wrong, and I always thought this was super weird as a kid. I sort of just accepted it because I was a kid and I thought I must not know better, but now that I'm older I look back on it like, wow, fuck that book.
Very much this. I always found that subplot and how it was handled very weird, even as a kid. I just didn't make the thematic connections until much later and "oh boy"

You can continue Ranni's quest now btw.
Yep, while I was exploring his boss arena after he died I ran into Blaidd who helpfully reminded me. Iji also mentioned it while I was chatting with NPCs.

Exploring his boss arena also put an end to my solving the mystery of the one guide statue thing that was pointing down here as the location of a dungeon. The statue was near North Caelid and was clearly pointing down towards that area but from that distance I couldn't quite tell what that place was yet. I spent a bit of time looking to see if there appeared to be a way to jump down there either near the statue or really anywhere along the cliff edge in the area and came up empty so I figured we'd find a way there later. When I was exploring Sellia and there was talk of hidden paths, seals, and "the path to the source" I got all hype thinking there'd be a hidden tunnel there that led to it. It looked red from a distance so with the scarlet rot it fit in my mind! But obviously that too was a dead end. Too bad that seemed to be the only thing of note there, thankfully Torrent made exploring it not that bad even if it was super empty.

Guess we're just going right to the boss fight LOL. Got Radahn first try. Didn't accomplish much else. The castle populated with enemies afterwards and those un-interactable doors opened allowing me to get the items I could plainly see through them before. Also did a sweep of checking up on the NPCs I've met but the only one with anything new for me was Sellen who I could show a spell I ended up picking up (in Altus, I think? Been a while since I talked to her so maybe) and she wants me to find someone else for her in Caelid.
