Thorn 03/22/23 11:01:34 AM #112 | FE Engage beated. Chapter 24 Chapter 25, okay this probably my new favorite for music. Both the map theme and boss theme were great. Story pretty tense even though Chapter 26, And that's it, I guess. ED was neat as were the "where are they now" art in the credits - what happens if you let characters die? Do they skip the ones that include them? Or keep them because in theory I have some serious mixed feelings on Engage. The story is just... not good. It's really glaring after Three Houses but even putting that aside it's just really underwhelming. Characters are also really hit or miss and I feel like there were more misses than usual. And my least favorite thing, and it kind of casts a shadow over the rest, the Somniel just isn't good. It's objectively smaller than the Monastery but it feels like so much more of a chore because of the loading zones to various parts of it, useless dead time because it forces certain characters to man certain areas/minigames so if someone else is there it has to switch them out (or just needlessly disable the minigame in general because of the randomness in which characters are present lmao), and the minigames just kinda suck. Especially training. god how did that pass the design phase? Gameplay was great though so that's where a lot of the mixed feelings come in. The break system was neat and Emblems weren't bad either. Smash weapons felt useless though. Almost never used them. Definitely a big step down from Three Houses IMO. Next up should be Trails to Azure which actually means replaying Trails from Zero even though it hasn't been that long but I'm a very silly person. Thankfully NG+ should help speed things up on that front. Edit: Oh also seeing that the Engage Story DLC trailers are dropping. First Elden Ring rises from the dead to drop a DLC announcement mere days after I beat it, now Enage does hours after. Trails to Azure DLC gonna be lit in like a month and a half. --- May you find your book in this place. Formerly known as xp1337. |

Marth's at least had some surprisingly strong enemies but Anyway, my army is too strong so Chapter 23 wasn't a challenge but I suppose now is a good time to say the Four Hounds have been a super weak antagonist group. Thorn 03/20/23 9:05:54 AM #260 | Yeah, this was a story I knew too but I suppose it's significant in that someone directly involved is now admitting it. (IIRC some peripheral people like Reagan staffers and some people on Iran's end had before but no one this close on the US side) Previously everyone denied and when Congress investigated it over 30 years ago they came back with "no evidence i guess." The can of worms it would open to perp walk a President over Stormie Daniels of all things. To be clear, when I say "more likely to happen than not" I mean the indictment. I just would absolutely love to see it though. ChaosTonyV4 posted... I dont see how these two things are related at all. That the idea that law enforcement is going to just abandon the rule of law and an indictment because they're scared of his cultists is kinda ridiculous. If an indictment is returned it'll be executed. If DeSantis wants to flagrantly violate the constitution by preventing an extradition to another state uh "good luck." As for the GOP primary I think it's pretty clear that a Trump indictment/arrest will actually help him there because the GOP will have a rally-around-the-flag effect over it. Thorn 03/19/23 7:02:38 AM #244 | Everything about the indictment happening seems fairly solid. I think it's more likely to happen than not at this point. That said, having done some more reading of the reporting regarding Trump's unhinged screed yesterday it sounds like he doesn't have any inside info on the timing so the idea that it's Tuesday is him pulling a day from his ass. The thinking for Tuesday is that there's yet another meeting between the various law enforcement agencies that would be involved in executing the indictment and arrest, including Trump's Secret Service detail, scheduled for Monday so I guess he's just assuming the arrest would happen the day after. But it sounds like that's just speculation so it shouldn't be viewed as "it happens Tuesday or it's not happening at all." And tbqh pretty sure more people spontaneously celebrated when Biden won in 2020 than were involved in 1/6. Trump is clearly trying to incite another 1/6-style reaction with his call to his supporters there but I wouldn't expect much to come of it. --- May you find your book in this place. Thorn 03/18/23 9:43:28 PM #242 | Yeah, the rumor is that the Manhattan DA intends to indict Trump imminently. Whether Trump saying Tuesday is him just regurgitating the news reports (and thus not a given it's true) or he knows something (the reports stated law enforcement was reaching out to the Secret Service to discuss how the logistics of doing this will go so maybe he has inside info on the time) idk. As far as we know this particular indictment is related to the Stormy Daniels payments. I'm thinking at most we get a perp walk of Trump (which would be delicious) but I could also see law enforcement and the Secret Service working out a deal where he voluntarily walks with them into the courthouse or whatever instead of the full handcuffs deal. Either way, I expect he'll post bail immediately and walk out. We're not lucky enough to live in a world where he gets thrown in jail. --- May you find your book in this place. In an attempt to cater to Florida, at least one publisher made significant changes to its materials, walking back or omitting references to race, even in its telling of the Rosa Parks story. NYT shows how the textbook originally stated: "The law said African Americans had to give up their seats on the bus if a white person wanted to sit down" then changed to a more indirect draft version "She was told to move to a different seat because of the color of her skin" to finally "She was told to move to a different seat" with no explanation of why she was told to move If I'm reading the NYT article correctly, the textbook publisher backpedalled back to the "color of her skin" version and pulled the completely whitewashed version from review by the state when they reached out for comment on this story but this is exactly the kind of effect DeSantis and the GOP are trying to get from publishers, threatening them into "self-censoring" to comply with these laws. --- May you find your book in this place. Sitting on 22's prep screen. 20 had an interesting fight concept, it probably would have been annoying if 21 was far more straightforward but became a far more fun fight once I decided to defeat all the reinforcements. Definitely made it significantly more intense fight. Corrin!Yunaka held one chokepoint and Byleth!Alear and Roy!Lapis the other, each backed up by a good chunk of the army. Alear's group had most of them because that side tended to be the scarier side since the 3-range mages could only reliably be countered by Alycrst with a longbow and that wouldn't always happen so there'd always be a huge amount of mages. Definitely a few scary moments (and a rewind or two) where enough hits would pile up to put me in the "one more hit will kill, need to dodge like 3 more potential attacks" zone or Yunaka would go cold on crits and an enemy or two could leak out to get to the squishy mages backing her up. Eventually though the reinforcements stopped and the rout was completed. That said this greatly extended the time the battle took so I stopped on 22's prep screen as mentioned. I get that Jets fans are addicted to losing, and the fear that might change because someone they personally hate for dumb reasons has decided he wants to play for them next season is going to override the rational parts of their brains, but if I was a Jets fan, I'd be excited that we will actually be relevant for the first time since Rex Ryan.hey. i take offense to "for dumb reasons" I think there's plenty of reason to think that Rodgers's attitude has the potential to be toxic to a team full of young talent given how he treated young players literally last year. Now maybe you can argue that that was just him being petty af and taking out his dislike for the Packers front office on the players but that isn't much better! IDK, maybe he has a complete change in attitude now that he's (basically) on the Jets but I really doubt it - nothing we've seen from him the past 3 years indicates that's likely. Hell, Jets front office has been so bad at drafting historically that I honestly don't value draft picks (for them) as highly as most because I internally just think "oh their first round pick? well they'd just draft a bust anyway. or else drive away an actually good player within three years" so in theory I kinda get the front office's fixation on trying to just cobble a team together in free agency by grabbing vets/big names... but again, for the first time since - like you said, Rex Ryan - it felt like they might have gotten a good coach and GM combo and maybe this changed but I think the philosophy from ownership remains unchanged and they might ruin that. tl;dr: Obviously Rodgers objectively should make the team considerably better. Kinda hard not to because the QB situation was so bad. But this feels very short-sighted and potentially risking what looked like, for once, a kinda promising long-term situation. I mean, I guess you're not entirely wrong that my personal feelings about Rodgers means that even if they have success here my feelings will be muted about it but whatever - it's basically done now. --- May you find your book in this place. Thorn 03/14/23 8:47:17 PM #441 | The most annoying thing about that wishlist is the Jets actually have a lot of promising young talent at skill positions for the first time in forever but Rodgers would have them ignore that and just grab his buddies. Hall was basically on track to be ROTY before the injury. Garrett Wilson was OROTY. If I suspend my immense distaste for acquiring Rodgers for a moment, it just doesn't make any sense. I mean, maybe acquire a player or two from it like they did with Lazard to get a #2 WR or whatever but they should laugh off the rest of that list and if it's really a dealbreaker with Rodgers then the deal should be broken because it's just downright illogical for the Jets to pursue it. --- May you find your book in this place. Thorn 03/14/23 3:24:25 PM #428 | Emeraldegg posted... It's more that they are hyped for any QB who isn't crap. Lots of people think the jets really are a qb away so...rodgers isn't what he used to be but he can still play some.I mean they kinda are if you swapped out Wilson for an elite QB on a rookie deal like if you just put Burrow in there. But the problem was that in getting Rodgers you were going to have to trade away pieces to get him from the Packers and probably cut other pieces for salary purposes so now the team is already lesser than the hypothetical "Rodgers on last years' Jets" team. Now with this wishlist of his? God if the Jets were to actually fulfill it is the old team even left and it's not just Green Bay East Lite? Like we're literally at the point where I think Rodgers would have been better off staying in Green Bay because I'm not even sure team quality ends up that different in the end but the NFC is such an easier path. It's why I hoped they'd go anywhere but Rodgers this offseason. Lamar? The ideal. Still the same salary issues but you're getting someone long term. Carr? Honestly all considered probably gets you as far as Rodgers could (which is like divisional round, maybe a loss in the AFC Championship) because what he lacks in talent in comparison he's cheaper and blows up less of the team because no trade. Jimmy G similar boat. But ownership wants to "make a splash" and be the center of attention and has no idea how to put together a winning football team so it'll just blow up the entire team chasing a fantasy and clicks/views. --- May you find your book in this place. Thorn 03/14/23 3:15:49 PM #69 | Fire Emblem Engage: Chapter 19 beated. Most interesting map since last time was definitely Leif's paralogue. Those ballistas lol. Could have been a problem but Sigurd! That little ballista corner closer to the start area could have been trickier since they had two up that covered each other but Byleth!Alear, Yunaka, and Seadall can basically former a strike team that can cover a silly amount of distance in one turn to get there wreck it. --- May you find your book in this place.
