Rodgers doesn't care about anybody but himself. If he really cared about mentoring he would have been at the offseason program last year to help the rookie receivers get used to what he wanted them to do.

Glad the Packers and Jets don't play each other next year so if it happens, they don't decide "Hey! Let's make Green Bay vs NYJ a prime time game!" like they did Russell Wilson vs the Seahawks.

As a fan I want my franchise QB be more selfless and mentor his successor. But as someone that's been in a similar situation (not NFL QB) I absolutely agree with vets like Brady/Rodgers/Favre that their job isn't to train someone to take their job. Fuck that, you gotta look out for yourself.

Nah, Jets are done with Zach Wilson. They'll keep him on the roster because they can't trade him, but he's not their future and they know it.

And it isn't his job to help train the rookie receivers? You know, the guys he's supposed to be throwing to as part of his job? I never mentioned him helping his successor, I mentioned him helping the receivers.

There comes a point in every vet's career where he just doesn't want to spend offseason with the team. I don't know the quality of the WRs Rodgers got in camp last year but I do know Brady's last few years in NE he spent his time banging his head against the wall trying to work with a bunch of WR3s and eventually got fed up and took days off. Then with the Bucs he had motivation to work with his new WRs because they weren't dogshit. He obviously had to deal with a divorce in his last year so I'm going to give him a pass there.

Rodgers had 3 rookie receivers who were expected to play a major role, and he demands his receivers be exactly where he wants them to be at all times Yet he couldnt be bothered to show up in the off-season and work with them to get them up to speed on what he wanted them to do. This is nothing like Brady. This is one of the many reasons a lot of us Packers fans are excited to see the guy go. There were even reports of Packers management being pissed that Rodgers didnt put in the effort this off-season.

Yeah, I don't mind that he's gone. At all. His ego is a bit too much, and I'm honestly surprised he's lasted in Green Bay this long. People have been tired of him since he got McCarthy fired (not because McCarthy was fired, but because of Egomaniac's attitude about it).

Hopefully Jordan Love is as good as Gutekunst and LaFleur have said he is. The NFC is low on competition so I hope that's enough for him to get a footing.

Nah, ownership is just obsessed with making the flashiest move they can make to get attention (see: Favre 15 years ago) - maybe to draw coverage away from the Giants or the rest of the NY sports teams. They probably also think they're a QB away which is... arguably true... if not for the fact that I highly doubt that's still the case after a Rodgers acquisition.

They've absolutely given up on Wilson even if Saleh gave the standard coach speak of "we've still got a plan for him in this organization" about him recently. If Rodgers falls through (please god have him troll them and retire to save them from themselves) there's no real backup plan anymore other than praying the pieces fall just right for Lamar and that's out of their control entirely because the Ravens could always just match the offer sheet.

I think the fact that you've had several Jets players openly recruiting (and now celebrating) Aaron Rodgers tells you none of them want Zach Wilson to be the QB.

I mean let's not forget that he threw the defense under the bus last season. Even if his skill somehow took a massive leap forward, they're already fed up with him on the personality front anyway.

No one should be surprised that a player with his college resume turned out to be a massive bust. Was easy to see coming.

All Rodgers gives to the Jets is a chance to win a playoff game, and that's about it. The AFC is going to be tough, and a 39 year old QB isn't the answer. You've got Mahomes, Burrow, Lawrence, Allen, Tua, Herbert and Jackson in the AFC. I'm not saying they're unbeatable. They're not. But a 39 year old QB isn't the answer for success. And when you've got Tua and Allen in your division? Jets doing Jets things I guess.

I mean they kinda are if you swapped out Wilson for an elite QB on a rookie deal like if you just put Burrow in there.

But the problem was that in getting Rodgers you were going to have to trade away pieces to get him from the Packers and probably cut other pieces for salary purposes so now the team is already lesser than the hypothetical "Rodgers on last years' Jets" team.

Now with this wishlist of his? God if the Jets were to actually fulfill it is the old team even left and it's not just Green Bay East Lite? Like we're literally at the point where I think Rodgers would have been better off staying in Green Bay because I'm not even sure team quality ends up that different in the end but the NFC is such an easier path.

It's why I hoped they'd go anywhere but Rodgers this offseason. Lamar? The ideal. Still the same salary issues but you're getting someone long term. Carr? Honestly all considered probably gets you as far as Rodgers could (which is like divisional round, maybe a loss in the AFC Championship) because what he lacks in talent in comparison he's cheaper and blows up less of the team because no trade. Jimmy G similar boat.

But ownership wants to "make a splash" and be the center of attention and has no idea how to put together a winning football team so it'll just blow up the entire team chasing a fantasy and clicks/views.

Mike Greenberg is basically your textbook "completely blind and oblivious to the real world superfan".

He seems to understand the NFL when every other team is involved, but he is a complete and utter moron with almost anything that involves them.

The most annoying thing about that wishlist is the Jets actually have a lot of promising young talent at skill positions for the first time in forever but Rodgers would have them ignore that and just grab his buddies. Hall was basically on track to be ROTY before the injury. Garrett Wilson was OROTY.

If I suspend my immense distaste for acquiring Rodgers for a moment, it just doesn't make any sense. I mean, maybe acquire a player or two from it like they did with Lazard to get a #2 WR or whatever but they should laugh off the rest of that list and if it's really a dealbreaker with Rodgers then the deal should be broken because it's just downright illogical for the Jets to pursue it.

If the Jets want to make a splash, just make a play for Lamar Jackson. Probably cost less than signing a bunch of aging free agents to satisfy a 39 year old QB that is on the decline.

Do the jets have 2 1st rounders this year to do that with? Isn't that the threshold you have to get? Or is it 2 1sts any year?
