No, the local card is just for local calls and texts. I imagine it's impossible or expensive to call internationally with it, but I'm not positive.

But I have an e-sim for the American network, and the physical sim card for local, so I can use both at the same time.

Thanks for the info. I just looked into Google Fi unlimited plus. You can get a month of the service from Amazon for $45, keep your old number, and make unlimited texts to the US while abroad. Almost sounds too good to be true but Amazon can deliver the sim today. Then after the trip I could cancel the service.

I hope I read everything right. I'm half asleep.

I'm living in the Philippines right now, you have a few options.

First, several American carriers allow wifi calling included for free internationally. These include google-fi and Mint mobile, but likely some others too. As the name implies, you will get access to phone calls and texts when connected to a wifi network.

Second, you can buy a local sim card for cheap and subscribe to a local network. I have a local number here under "Globe", not sure if they are present in the rest of south east Asia though.

Do local sim cards allow you to text or call to the US without some crazy fee?

Stopping in Tokyo briefly then heading to Ho Chi Minh City. I looked into Verizon's Travel Pass and it's $10 a day. $140 for 2 weeks just to send texts here and there sounds excessive. I mean I could do it but don't want to.

There has to be a poor man's option to stay connected with people back home.

a lot of canned food is literally cooked in the can so it would probably be harmless

It's actually pasteurized in the can, but cooked before it enters the can. Pasteurization gets it hot enough to kill any bacteria which is why canned food lasts for years.

So to answer OP, yes you could do that. The can won't explode.

Speaking of Karens, when I was at Walmart getting my tire fixed I was sitting next to one waiting. She appeared to be gen x. She was balling someone out on the phone over some plan she was trying to cancel and went on for like 40 minutes being embarrassingly rude before the rep hung up on her.

"What's your name? Michael? There are millions of Michaels. Michael what? What. Is. Your. Full. Name? What's your manager's name? Your boss. Who is it? Hello? Hello? Heeeellloooo?"

It was the most classic Karen conversation I've ever heard in my life. Should have recorded it.

Gen Z, millennials, boomers, and the the greatest generation all catch shit for something.

Gen X grew up during the perfect period to be the most well adjusted in modern times. Boomers and TGG are too hard. Gen Z and millennials are too soft. Gen X falls somewhere in between. The Goldilocks zone.

So managed to inflate the tire and make it back to Walmart. They replaced the valve stem and it seems to be holding.

Still though how the hell could they not tell it was leaking when they inflated the tire? When I filled it to 35 psi the valve was hissing like a mf. No way could they not have heard that.

I probably should have asked for a gift card or something for wasting gas going back.

I'll definitely invest in one of those. Part of the reason why I got new front tires was a leaky valve stem and I had to keep inflating it. When I took off the cap I could hear air coming out. Should have looked into a fix but it was time to replace them anyway. It's a different story if the brand new tire valve core was jacked up.

It was before work that I had them changed and I made it to work fine. 10 hours later I try to go home an one is all the way flat, rim on the ground.

My spare is under the vehicle and wouln't lower. Something was froze up. So I walked home in 35 degree rain in the dark.

I have no idea what could have caused it other than something Walmart did wrong. Never had a complete flat before this. Not sure what to do now besides having it towed to a shop.

Fuck Walmart.

I never remember doing any homework, I don't think we got much if any during my schooling.

Only at University, did I actually start to get any work outside of the classroom and it was momentous compared to before.

I found it to be the opposite. We'd also have breaks between some classes in college to get things done and not have to worry about it later. Grade school was just back to back class after class with only a lunch break

I remember math homework taking up so much time. Every math teacher would give us page after page of shit to do and expect us to "show our work". It was especially frustrating when I had an afterschool job and the classes got more demanding.

Who the hell wants to come home from work then do 3 hours worth of math before going to sleep, plus whatever is given by other classes? I hated grade school more than any other point in my life so far.

I made the best chili I ever had a couple weeks ago.

I usually play it by ear but this is what I remember putting in it:

3 lbs ground turkey (the darker meat, not breast)
1 pack diced andouille sausage
2 large cans of kidney beans
1 small can of black beans
Onion, bell pepper, celery, garlic
2 cans stewed tomatoes
2 cans Rotel original tomatoes
A jar of Ortega chunky salsa
Better than Bullion beef broth (added until I liked the consistency, maybe 3 cups)
Chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, pepper (just threw some in until it tasted right)

Cooked the vegetables in olive oil with the sausage. Removed and browned the turkey. Then threw everything in the pot and let it simmer on low for a couple hours.

I think guys like cooking chili because it's one of the easiest things to make.

She not only wanted to talk about pertinent issues with her guests, but wanted to know why they were so fat or apparently crazy.

I watched several documentaries on her after she died, and think she was a rude bitch. Even when she interviewed people I don't necessarily like I thought she was out of line. A spoiled spoon-fed rich girl from birth with no sense of appropriate behavior.
