Typically it doesn't really have a negative effect on you. The worst thing that can really happen when you issue a chargeback is that you'll have an account in dispute for a very short while while the bank looks into it. The worst thing that can really happen is that if it's found that you owe anything on it after the chargeback investigation you'll need to pay it or have some potentially negative effects on your credit. As long as you pay that, if you even have to, you'll be fine.

Have you notified the company yet that you're going to go through with a chargeback if they don't refund or replace your item yet? You don't have to, but most companies will usually just prefer to reimburse you or send you a replacement than having a chargeback filed against them.

I'm getting ready to do that now. Usually "Fiona" responds within minutes and she's ghosting

I would make sure not to use it at all and keep it together with the original packaging until you can get the bank involved. Make sure to get plenty of photos and maybe see if you can find put what exactly would have caused the defects through reddit or something

You also might want to go to the bank in person to have a discussion with them on all your options and make sure that debating/charge back is the appropriate step to take. Sometimes a decent bank can work their magic and call a company up on your behalf to give you a full refund without having to put something like a charge back on your history

A lot of it really boils down to how much you care and how expensive it was.

It was $200. I mean not a huge amount but not an amount I'd like to piss away with something I don't want to display.

I've already begun the youtube campaign. Every video with their company name now has a "nice" review of my experience with them. I'm waiting to see if they respond to my last email before making my own youtube video.

Next will be every company review site I can find and the better business bureau, as well as contacting my bank about a chargeback.

I straight told em I was going to review bomb that place back to dinosaur times and that is exactly what I did. I spent the next 2 days making fake accounts and just started review bombing the ever loving shit out of that location. Like 30+ reviews on every fucking website I could find that had their address. I put thought into my reviews too to make them realistic. Did a whole story about finding a bandaid in my chicken. Had a cockroach crawl up my leg while on the toilet. Nothing was off limits for that manager. Gave them a call every few hours or so too from one of my many google voice numbers asking about my refund. Only took 2 days until they caved and I got my money back. Honestly it is a good thing too because I would have done that for weeks, fuck that manager.

In summary places get real butthurt about bad internet reviews so abuse that and you will get what you want in no time bud

I'll definitely make a point to do that. I had to contact the BBB on eBay once when they refunded a buyer before they even shipped the item back. You can leave reviews on there as well. Within a week I had my money back. I have a feeling this company will be stubborn and keep insisting I caused the defect with "fire"

Needless to say I won't be buying anything else from them. I'm satisfied with the other things I bought but if they won't stand by their products no way am I going there again. I hope it was worth losing a customer and the bad reviews that will follow

That looks like something went wrong during the chemical treatment of the blade. I watch that Forged in Fire show and a lot of early stage blades have markings like that.

Yeah something obviously went wrong at the factory. I've been a repeat customer and have spent over $700 with them, and now they're trying to blame me for their error instead of doing the right thing and taking it back.

I'll give them until Wednesday to respond. Then I'll get with my bank and the BBB. Customer service must be somewhere overseas because they always get back at like 2am and the English isn't the best. I know they have a warehouse in California but some things ship from China

So I send the bank a pic and describe the situation? I've never tried this.

I took the picture the day it was received and emailed them.

The pics were escalated to someone then they got back with me a few days later, saying it's impossible that they sent it out like that and it was caused by fire.

I was like ok, I just opened the fucking thing and took a pic. I don't have any fire. WTF are you talking about? Waiting for the next response.

If they won't refund me what options do I have? Just let them rip me off or is there something else I can do?

Haneda or Narita? Narita is so far away that no. Haneda is closer to central Tokyo but other than the mysteries of a Japanese 7-11, ramen shops and maybe a Yoshinoya, there's not much to see without getting on a train which depending on time of day can be packed and confusing to navigate..

I've done a 3 hours layover at Narita and there is a lot to do. See if you can buy a day pass to a first class lounge. Nap, watch a movie and charge your batteries (literally and figuratively).

According to my Orbitz itinerary it'll be Narita. 4.5 hours then off to Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City).

I had this a ton when I quit drinking, when I had a fan on it amplified it and constantly sounded like music. It lasted for a few weeks, along with hallucinations, but I was a very heavy drinker for a long time.

Weird you mention the fan because I have a space heater in the living room that was running so maybe it was coming from that. I actually liked the songs it was playing. You can make a pot of soup that'll last a week cheaper than 2 meals at McDonald's. Fast food is super expensive these days. The dollar menu was the best thing but those days are gone

I've been in factories since I was 20 doing all kinds of stuff. Started out on an assembly line and moved to maintenance and then working more behind the scenes. After covid hit they started paying everyone way more just to apply because no one wanted to work. Not sure how it is in other parts of the country.

What part of the country are you in? Around here even Subway starts out at $14. I live in the middle of nowhere pretty much.

Have you considered factory work? I work in the office and people on the floor start out at $20, bare minimum. All some do is put cups in boxes. Instead of working 2 jobs which would suck, maybe look around for something like that pays more and may offer overtime.

Heh, after my POs were approved, then it would be sent to purchasing. they were usually pretty on the ball... If my boss remembered to take the POs over.

Receiving however? was a fucking shit show. It was common, (COMMON), that incomiong packages were sent to the wrong department or person... and for some fucking reason, they wouldn't send the packages back. They'd just throw them on their desk. My boss had to tell me to "Just order it all again" more than once because it was easier than trying to find the delivery in the company.

Oh, and I had one board for my machine that was broken, but not detrimental to machine operations. I gave it to my boss to ship... and 6 months later I started trying to find out what happened to it (repair turn around for this company was up to 6 months...) They asked me for the PO so they could search it (because it had to be sent to japan), so i asked my boss for it... he came back an hour later... with the board.

He never sent it.

Lol yeah my job involves making the POs and purchasing.

But the kicker is, it's a salary job and I'm paid hourly. My supervisor and coworker quit at the same time a couple weeks ago, and everything has been put on me.

So I snapped yesterday and sent an email to every manager in the building including HR telling them how I feel about the situation. Didn't hold shit back. I was called into HR and given a $2 raise and encouraged to take the supervisor position. Which I really don't want since I saw what the previous ones went through, but I'll take the 2 bucks. I don't think $20k more a year is worth it tbh

One company I worked for, they were literally just a corporation that buys and sells other companies... and they merged 2 of us together... but kept us distinct inside of it.

So while I was "employed" and paid by one company, I was actually doing work for the other company...

So when I ordered things, I needed to put in duplicate orders through both companies... in triplicate. You can't use a PC, you have to do it by hand.

And then the corporation that bought the my employer found out how much money they were losing, they put a purchasing freeze on.

All of my orders had to be signed by me, my manager, VP of Ops for both companies (two different people), and then someone at Corporate headquarters.

Machine stopped working and needs a $50 part? A month to get the paperwork done.

That sounds sort of familiar.

We have 2 programs to make purchase orders. Certain items need 2 POs, others only need one. Anything over $1000 has to be signed by two managers.

Most of the ordering is done by email. Some things are kind of like Amazon where you input the PO number and order from a website.

There's a lot of dealing with vendors and getting quotes. Most people are nice and kind of ass kissy which I don't mind. They talk to me like I own the place lol

And no, it's nothing like clicking a button on Amazon. Just to buy one thing is a fucking drawn out 6 step process. It's ridiculous.
