I especially love people who claim to be "alpha lone wolves." So you're the leader of... nobody.

I'd take the two weeks off work, aside from probably spending a day making sure I'd documented everything that a successor might need, but that's about the only unusual thing I'd do. I'm not particularly desperate to travel anywhere, all the people I'd want to say goodbye to are readily accessible enough that I don't need to go out of my way to do so, blowing all my money on a 50% chance would be stupid... I'm content to just live the rest of my life as I'm currently living it.

At least that's the sort of thing that some tattoo artist will probably be willing to cover up for free, in the same vein as those who do swastika cover-ups pro bono.

Blood pudding is pretty good. I imagine a muffin version would be fairly similar, but given that I tend to think of muffins as being sweet food I don't know how much I'd enjoy such a strongly savory one.

3 million copies in two games seems pretty popular to me. Sure, it's no Pokemon or Mario, but that's still pretty respectable.

That, and there's a growing recognition that "that's for kids, stop having fun with things that aren't approved by the International Board of Old People Fun!" has always been a really stupid attitude.

Without looking it up, I actually kind of doubt this is a Catholic school. Most Catholic schools tend to brand themselves as such; "Christian Academies" are usually affiliated with other churches.

Because if there's one group that can be trusted to make impartial decisions about what's best for society, it's the immediate victims of the crime in question.

It's cheaper than the death penalty (unless you remove the checks and balances that can't be removed for the reasons outlined earlier), completely eliminates the risk of executing an innocent person, and would leave open the possibility of rehabilitation if the country weren't so infatuated with the idea of revenge and punishment as to fundamentally undermine the justice system's ability to make meaningful improvements to society.

But their reaction to the parents understandably questioning it is beyond awful and highly suspicious. In a functioning world that should seriously warrant a government investigation.

Yeah, that's why I think it's probably a grooming thing. The request itself is weird, but largely harmless. If they're weeding out everyone that tries to push back against the school asking kids to something so weird an discomforting, though, that tells me they're trying to make sure they don't get similar questions asked later when they start making less harmless requests.

Obviously, treating the underlying mental health issues is also important, but implementing measures to mitigate the harm in the mean time (and even after mental health care gets to where it needs to be) is still a very good idea. At the very least, a waiting period for every gun purchase does wonders for reducing these risks while causing virtually no other harm (except possibly to arms manufacturers that like when people make impulse buys, but they can go fellate a cactus on their third yacht while they cry about not having a fourth).

In cases like this where there's such overwhelming evidence, so much so that an appeal is pretty much pointless, just take him out behind the courthouse and dome him. The government already wastes enough of my money. I don't need upkeep fees for a lowlife added to the pile.

And who decides when appeals are pointless? The government, whom you're trying to prevent from executing people without adequate cause? A jury, whose potential biases and layperson ignorance you're trying to eliminate by bringing additional opinions in? A judge, granting absolute power over life and death to a single person who doesn't have to listen to anyone else? The general public, who definitely won't be influenced by whatever version of the story generates the most traffic for news sites?

As tempting as it is to say "this person really sucks we shouldn't bother with appeals for them," the law can't work that way. There will always be fringe cases and there will always be a need to confirm that a case is not fringe by going through the proper channels.

For that matter, what "overwhelming evidence" is there that he's beyond rehabilitation? People are fond of saying that whenever a particularly heinous crime happens, but I don't think I've seen a single instance where that wasn't just a knee-jerk emotional reaction (read: a uselessly uninformed opinion) instead of an assessment based on the opinions of mental health professionals who had genuinely tried to rehabilitate the person (read: an opinion that should actually be used to make decisions). Perhaps you're special enough to be the exception to that near-universal trend, so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt: Please share the evidence you have that concludes beyond a shadow of a doubt that there's no chance this guy could ever function in society again.

"It's not a sex thing. It's just a matter of ensuring that students will unquestioningly obey anything their teachers ask of them regardless of how weird or uncomfortable it seems so we can get them to do sex things later."

Giving any number of them the death penalty wouldn't deter much of anything. If anything, a sizable percentage are a form of deliberate suicide by cop, so executing them as a matter of regular practice would act as entirely the opposite of a deterrent.

This would never happen if we had armed guards in every suburb!

Honestly, I'm not even sure I have a favourite character. Eunie probably generated the most outright hilarity, but everyone is really just delightful and it's such a fun party to adventure with and watch grow. Eunie is absolutely the most memeable, though, which is saying something in a world of wotah and yippee.

I really like how well they tied Fiona in to Lanz. Physically, it seems ridiculous that he'd inherit the class, but the parallels between Fiona's insecurities and Lanz's are really quite brilliantly executed and I loved the subtle ways he hinted that he understood her situation.

Also, the late-game quest where Triton talks about Irma carrying around an empty box that she wanted to fill with treasure after we'd found a box in her hideout full of mementos from her time with Mu was peak manly tears.

Yeah, Trump's term was marked by an extreme outlier that means we can't really take his trendline at face value. I'm fine with recognizing that in interpreting the data.

I can't necessarily speak for their experience, but I know that when I was working at a bakery, I pretty much stopped baking at home outside of special occasions. Part of that was because I routinely got to close on Saturday and bring home what would otherwise have been thrown out, so I didn't need to bake at home to have baked goods at home, but the other part of it was that I just didn't feel like spending my time off doing the same stuff I'd be doing at work. While turning a hobby into a job can be a good way to end up with a job you enjoy doing, it does have a tendency to make it harder to enjoy it as a hobby.

They're far from perfect (holy hecknuggets are they far from perfect), but prisons have plenty of systems and procedures in place to prevent inmates from killing each other that don't involve preemptively killing everyone that might be a threat. If he kills somebody in jail (which, as others have pointed out, seems unlikely given that he's not exactly the sort of person who can be threatening without hiding behind a gun), that's a failure of those systems, not evidence that he should have been executed. Every country in the world that doesn't have the death penalty keeps their murderers in jail and doesn't have a rampant problem of those murderers killing other inmates. This is not such a special case as to warrant special measures that aren't necessary anywhere else.

The death penalty is really only necessary for dangerous people that are a chronic flight risk (or who are a flight risk at all and are dangerous enough for that to be an intolerable risk). In any other case, it does not provide any benefit to public safety that cannot be provided by other means.

If the electronic cigarette you're using is vaporizing butane or operating in a vacuum, I think you have bigger problems to worry about than how cool it is.

Not sure if I should go for the DLC now or wait until wave 3 so I've got all the content that's based on the base game available at once. I want more, but if it's just a little more, then I'm not going to stop wanting more for having played it.

Some people used it occasionally, some people liked the way it sounded and started using it themselves, repeat until linguistic trend. We're pretty solidly into the "use it because it sounds cool even though it's the wrong place to use it" phase of that, after which people will get bored of it and it will fade into obscurity and some new words will rise in popularity.

And that's getting more into a personal desire than anything you actually have a right to. You don't have a right to privacy in a shared space. That you had an easy out for kicking out the person infringing on your privacy is entirely a matter of her being a violation of the tenant's lease, not anything you're inherently entitled to. Had your ex come home 30 seconds after she left, you'd have the same amount of privacy and none of the legal high ground. That's just the nature of renting out a property you live in: you only have as much control over it as is granted you by the lease.

Now, saying this, dude's being a dick and I don't think you're being particularly unreasonable, especially given how much time she's been spending there and the excessive impact that's had on your ability to enjoy the space. It's also not like you threw her out on the street or left her with no way to get home, so all in all, your less-than-impersonal act was little more than a moderate inconvenience for those affected and therefore not exactly the end of the world. You may not be in a position to insist that he not live his life in his home because you want to enjoy it yourself, but this is both legal and reasonable, so yay. Dude got uppity because he likes to pretend he still owns the place, not because you really overstepped any boundaries.

Either way, it's almost over. 2.5 more months and you'll no longer have to deal with any of it.

It's completely legal if she's stayed longer than visitors are allowed per the lease, which seems to be the most salient point here.

I'm not about to pretend it was an entirely impersonal decision on Jen's part, and there's potentially room to debate the morality of it, but it seems to be quite legal.

And cling to the fantasy that people that are working hard can't possibly be homeless.

Any monthly fee you pay is for service, and there are pay-as-you-go options that only require you to spend money to top up your minutes as needed instead of having to pay monthly (and satisfies the basic requirement of "have a phone number" that most jobs carry). Other than that, you don't need to pay a cent to use any public wifi you can find, and if you do want a phone/data plan, you're generally going to be paying about as much for that as you would for Internet alone (maybe a bit more, depending on how expensive your local providers are), which again is going to be a tiny fraction of what rent costs such that eschewing it probably isn't going to make it any easier to stop being homeless.

If you have nothing else, a smartphone is by far the most cost-effective improvement you can make to your quality of life and ability to continue functioning in society despite being homeless, especially given that it fits easily in your pocket and therefore doesn't required you to own anything else to store it. As much as people like to see it as an expensive luxury item and think that no "real" refugee or homeless person would have one, it's comparatively not that expensive and is incredibly useful if you don't have anything else that can perform its functions.

The aptitude for the class only affects how quickly you learn them (both the initial unlock as the chibi outline fills in, and your CP gain once you set it). Past that, the only thing that affects which class works best is their innate stat differences, which aren't terribly significant (less than 10% between the highest and lowest, in most cases).

With a couple of exceptions (there's a hero later on whose chain order refills the chain meter by one stage), three is the maximum number of chain orders you can get from main party members because the chain meter will run out. Hero orders don't deplete the meter, though, so they give a fourth, which means it's usually a very good idea to choose them when they come up so you get that extra round of damage and increasing the ratio. Later, you'll unlock Ouroboros orders, which appear after using the chain orders from both members of an Ouroboros pair, reactivate all characters for one last round when chosen, and do buttloads of extra damage.

There's actually a lower rate of child molesters among priests (and presumably most other clergy-types) than among the general public. That priests get stereotyped like that is mostly a consequence of the blatant abuse of trust, rather than an actual increased risk.

Well the garage probably isn't interested in using him again, so I guess that's fair.
