I watched it up til the doctor confronted the orphanage guy with the shotgun. I won't say it was bad but evidently I lost interest. I couldn't tell where it was going and not in a good way, and the encounter felt 'episodic'

Just watched some AA1 footage and I'm certain now text moves much slower on average in this game. I know it's paced to the cadence of the speaker but it's a little annoying at times.

I'm really iffy on the cross examination theme of these games. It's a shame they didn't get budget to do 2 soundtracks, but besides that, this cross examination theme is so different from the main series, which uses melancholic music for testimony. And besides that it's just a little tiring and doesn't excite me.

It seems like you'd be in danger of hitting buildings? I guess it's weird because on investigation day you see hot air balloons far up in the sky and I don't recall if you see any closer down.

I think they adapted it from mob examinations in Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright.

I see the appeal of it, they get to do a lot of entertaining stuff from interplay between the witnesses on the stand. The Skulkin brothers are a great example, both between each other and how they harass Gregson and Graydon.

On the other hand, GAA is kind of weird in that there's almost no testimony where you can just go and present evidence.

The games are heavily reliant on pressing and evidence examination. Basically anything you get needs to be 3d rotated 180 degrees to obtain the actual relevancy of the evidence. And testimonies rarely begin with any hole, so you end up pressing just about everything since many testimonies do require multiple presses as well to extract everything.

One thing that bugs me a lot is stuff like needing to press Gregson for basic evidence like a potential murder weapon being entered into the court record. I'm certain the trilogy wasn't like this, there was more emphasis on seeing the contradiction in plain sight. When you need to press most testimonies to produce the segment with a contradiction, well, it's very obvious what you must do when that new segment pops up.

This game really likes "Haah.."

The jury system is so great here. Juror number 5 eating a corn cob has the same sound effect as the communications officer typing on her telegram or typewriter. The little things in these games make me so happy. As a whole the six jurors add a lot of personality to the trial with summation examinations.

I find Gina working for Gregson to be a really weird choice. Had Gregson got his way, Gina would be hanging from the gallows thanks to his deal with Graydon. Possibly handwaved that Sherlock is blackmailing him to do it, but I'm more surprised by Gina's comfort with the relationship. I guess she really wants to help Iris.

So, IIRC, the story of the video is that it was submitted for the comedy section of a contest at an anime expo and maybe even won. But basically the video kept doing shit like showing the shots of the telephone pole wires and then reversing it, and showing people just ride the train. It was intentionally very dull and nothing was happening. And throughout the whole thing there is a message exchange between two friends superimposed on the video of someone questioning the editor on these creative decisions.

People are giving a lot of scientific answers regarding the nature of energy and temperature, but they're all missing the point of the OP. TC feels 'coldness' and that is a fact regardless of the mechanics of heat.

I suppose in the sense that's what you spend the most time on but I think a distinction between precise and asinine is important. The dumbest cross examination in the series is in AAI-3 where you have to present a picture of three cups of water at the point Lang says the girl and butler planned it because it's supposed to show there were three people. That's just pedantic in the context of the testimony. and as well the diagrams in GAA are very picky. I understood the situation in GAA1-5 for example but still got it wrong twice because they wanted precise locations

You do see the seat in the corpse photo as well as the hole in the wall but I admit I messed that up too because Menimemo's crime photo appears to be taken from a corner of the hut. kinda just messy ngl but ambiguity isn't quite difficulty

I don't think this was one of the most challenging first cases, the only hitch is noticing the lens crack on Natsume's photo which is hard because the picture turns into a 3d newspaper by the time that is relevant. Other than that the case is really quick to unravel. Natsume and Hosonaga have one testimony and once Menimemo is on the stand you have him on the ropes about immediately

a lot of tutorial cases do great work in the series. 3-1 was the first great tutorial case, and 4-1 is even called by some to be the best Apollo Justice case lol. 5-1 did well to create a thrill and reintroduce Phoenix and the series' return, and the Investigations games made their first cases full packages.

AAI2-1 must be the best of them all, and part of it is that it seemed to expect a veteran fan and didn't hold back introducing many cast mainstays and huge stakes. I sort of expected that from GAA2 given it is such a package deal with GAA1, even before the collection came out. You just aren't meant to play this before GAA1, so you should know your way around. GAA2-1 feels like an afterthought, it does just a tiny bit of work by having the reporter set up recontextualizing Asogi's fate.

I thought it was weird it was mentioned that Sherlock also forbade this case to be published. I thought it weakened the intrigue of the Hound of Baskersvilles. Only... look at that, they are one and the same.

I very briefly skimmed a summary of the real novel and I suppose Moriarty will not show up in this game after all. That's probably well and good as many modern Holmes adaptations can't stay away from him.
