Imagine if TC started off the topic saying something like, I have this roommate (who happens to be a black guy)

I brought up her being trans because I was worried that as a cis dude raising my voice might have come off as unintentionally threatening or intimidating to her, specifically. The world is different for women, and trans women especially.

Anyways, it hasn't been brought up since, I'll be clipping my nails elsewhere going forward. But I would like to clarify that it was just my fingernails, I know enough not to dangle my bare feet out in the kitchen garbage, gosh.

Just to provide context that we haven't really had direct conflict before

I have this roommate who happens to be a trans woman. We're amicable most of the time, but I wouldn't really consider her a friend. She's loud and prone to going on these long rants about Twitch or Reddit drama that I couldn't possibly find interest in, but I'll nod along until she's done.

Anyways, last night before bed, I was clipping my nails in the garbage can in our kitchen/living area, not far from her room. She was watching the football game and getting vocally mad at the Bengals. But then I hear her say, in a voice not directed at me, "you should probably clip your nails in your room or the bathroom instead of the living room." I was taken aback at first, but then she continued "that's honestly gross."

At that point I was basically done, but raised my voice to respond "I'm clipping them in the garbage, relax." and that was the end of the incident.

I feel like maybe I should apologize for raising my voice at her like that, but also I feel like you can't expect a polite response to passive aggression.

I also recognize that we're still in the honeymoon phase of things; I know there are hurdles to clear down the road. But for now, we get to call each other cringy pet names and be happy.

Not sure why exactly, but regardless this is a pretty solid means of weeding out bots or alt accounts meant to give out misinformation and or troll.

Honestly it seems likely to have the exact opposite effect: legitimate people won't pay the $20 a month and impersonation will run rampant as a result.

In high school, I had these intense crushes, but too much social anxiety to do much productive about them. In college, I started asking out the women I was interested in...and got repeatedly rejected. I started trying online dating, but often felt like I was pretending to be someone I wasn't in order to better appeal to women on there. At any rate, I never got beyond a first date.

Shortly after college I had my only previous relationship, but it wasn't much of one. I was living with my parents, unemployed, and she was in her last semester at a college a couple hours away. We met off OKCupid and had our first few dates while she was on winter break, but after that it was hard to see each other in person, and she broke things off within a few months. At that point, I realized that as much as I was longing for romantic companionship, I wasn't in a good place to actually receive it. So I stopped trying to date for about 7 years, until I moved to DC.

As some of you will be familiar from my previous topics, I've been using dating apps since March or so, and had surprising luck given my past experiences. I met women who I was actually into, and some of them even wanted to see me again. But even when we clicked, things wouldn't last beyond the third date. It was encouraging to be doing better than before, but frustrating still to not get where I wanted to be.

After 15 tries, I'm there now. I've been seeing this woman about two months, and since last week we've been calling each other boyfriend/girlfriend. A lot of it has caught me by surprise; I've kept expecting another shoe to drop and it never does. When I'm with her, so much of the stuff I used to care and stress about, inside and outside of relationships, feels petty. I'm entirely content to just lay on the couch and cuddle while watching a stupid TV show with her; I don't feel the constant need to check my phone. And yeah, the having sex stuff is cool too lol.

tl;dr: I'm feeling sappy about achieving something that I've been chasing for ~half my life to this point.

I'd tinkered with my profile a lot, but my most recent version talked about exploring the city, trivia nights, and wanting someone who was passionate about something.

It got me a girlfriend, so I guess it worked.

I met my current girlfriend through a dating app, so it's done wonders for my confidence specifically. But as stated above, there's a big difference between Tinder or Hinge in my experience, and I would easily have gotten discouraged if the former was the only one I used.

We spent a decent amount of time trying to...get it in, and struggled to do so from a couple positions. We laughed about it, she gave me head for a bit, and then we tried again with more success.
