Damn, I didn't consider the aspect of new posters for that idea.

It seems that the locking threshold has to increase no matter what the ultimate goal is (and should have increased this year based on the observed results of last year). If the goal is to lock the entire field, then it should be at least 7, accounting for the speed at which we filled the bracket this year and the inevitable increase in voters that happens from year to year. If the goal is to make it more like previous years with a cutoff and a bubble, then locks should be even higher to decrease the number of them. Locks would need to no longer be the expected way of getting a song in, and would only happen consequentially to the more generally-liked songs. Maybe add the proposed +++ to help people who nominate more obscure songs. A bracket cutoff for a certain number of locked songs also seems beneficial in this case.

The nom freeze needs to be a permanent VGMC feature. It helps solve the problem of "listening time" without filling that time with even more songs. Whether it's in the middle or near the end, and for how long, can be adjusted. Also I know that this year's nom period was shorter than last year's, and I was in the minority who felt that last year's was too long (mainly due to that dead period near the end (well also due to the fact that I was not making a dedicated attempt at listening to the entire field, so I had no use for that extra time which other people did)), but starting on a weekend and ending after the following weekend seems completely reasonable.

This might be unpopular but would it help if the new nom cutoff was earlier than the final cutoff? Like for example, new noms are only accepted until the penultimate day and on the final 24 hours you can only post supports. I know it's been discussed that the cutoff can't be too early because of other problems.

I always thought that Seismitoad was on the verge of being cool in BW but very outclassed. I was so happy when he earned a niche in early S/S as a legitimately viable Water/Ground type. He's kind of been passed up (again) by Quagsire, Gastodon, and Swampert by now, but he got his time to shine. Also he has a totally awesome shiny. I always wanted one but I never wanted to use Seismitoad, so in Shield it was one of the first ones in the game that I ever grinded by breeding.

As it right now, it's still the same as normal. You still need to purchase a subscription in order to use the service. So you would need to do this before May 23 (subscriptions last for 365 days).

In March 2023 Bank is becoming free to use. So you could theoretically wait until then and not have to pay for anything. But if you want to use it this year, you'll have to get your subscription before you lose the ability to do so (there will be a few month period when people can't subscribe if they didn't pre-load funds, so you have to make your decision before then).

People like him because he's fun to play, but attempting to look at from a more objective game design perspective, Ganondorf is a bad choice for a character and an even worse implementation.

I've tried so many times over the years to like Mew, but no matter what aspect I focus on, I always come to the conclusion that he is, in fact, boring. I want to like him more but by mythical standards I just can't.

Celebi has cool powers (time travel).
Jirachi is fun to use, as one of the original Serene Grace users.
Victini has cool lore.

The rest are okay other than Marshadow.

I even thought Elm was cool because he was presented as being like a young, new professor who looked up to Oak's research to inspire his own, creating one of the first instances of continuity in the series.

Today's was probably one of the better ones too.

I really like Linoone-G. While I also like Obstagoon in a different way, if it didn't exist then Linoone would have had a chance to shine as a fully evolved Pokemon.

Vigoroth is cool, and even Chansey isn't bad in spite of being from gen 1.

Looking at this list, it turns out that most of these game are not that great despite being well known.

They all vastly improve when they evolve, so I guess I'll go with Slakoth for being the most distinct.

You're not wrong, what you're seeing is Turf War, what's promoted as the "main" multiplayer mode but in fact the worst mode out of all of them. There are other modes which are more fun and less flawed.
