God, it's a really, really tough call between Silksong, RE4, and God of War.

Think I'll have to give it to Silksong. Based on the previous titles, it's the one I'll put fifty hours into.

I always felt like Tom came across as just Tolkien trying to pad the book's length without actually having any effect on the story. If LotR was an anime, Tom would have been a filler episode.

I don't think Tolkien was just trying to pad the length and felt there was a good reason to include it, but I do absolutely fucking hate the entire pointless segment.

It kind of comes off as like a weird goodfellas story. He just happened to live most of his life as a good person but deep down he really wanted to be a drug lord. He finally chased his dream.

Not at $60, no. I think it's going on Gamepass, so I'd play it there or if it ever goes on sale for like $20.

I would disagree with this though. I put 32 hours into it and it was only near the end of that that Julianna ran out of idle conversations.

Dark Souls 1-3 and Bloodbourne all got DLC. Elden Ring will too. Its got too many things left undiscovered not to. The game map has obvious spots where DLC seems to be planned also.

Oh, yeah, there's that directly in the middle of the divine towers.

What were you collecting and farming for months? The game wasn't that deep lol.

Aside from this, they added a new weapon, a new slab, and some new enemy types. Kinda meh tbh, but the ending is fun.

Actually pretty good. I didn't hate the original ending as much as some, but this was certainly an improvement. Makes you wonder why it wasn't in the game at launch.

It's my first Souls game, so I don't know how previous DLCs have gone, but it has to be Miquella. He's the big mysterious demigod that only barely shows up and entering some kind of dreamworld through his cocoon would be an easy jumping off point.

Don't really have a set choice, but I guess I lean towards male more often.

But Elemer of the Briar? He was a solid, infuriating wall to me for a good two hours.

Maybe something like, "Baby Walter's cry can be heard from up to X feet away, but it is rendered harmless when muffled by an enclosed space. When a creature enters the cry's earshot for the first time on a turn or starts its turn there, Baby Walter may force it to make a DC 20 Constitution saving throw. If the saving throw fails by 5 or more, the creature is reduced to 0 hit points unless it is immune to necrotic damage or under the effects of Protection From Evil and Good. Otherwise, the creature takes 6d10 psychic damage."

Oh, also add the standard, "Deafened creatures are immune to this ability."

Yeah, that's kind of a funny question because portal fantasy is like his main thing lol. There's also The Talisman.

I didn't find the status system to be well explained, so I'll do it here: hitting an enemy with a status effect causes an icon to appear above their head. You have to fill this icon before the status effect actually takes hold. Sounds obvious but I thought I was inflicting the status effect and then it was depleting, but it was actually just filling up.

Speaking of which, status effects and precise targeting of weak spots are key to the combat in this game. You can just kill an enemy by firing arrows at it, but it will take forever.

Fast traveling requires an item, but once you get into the main world, merchants start selling a reusable one.

Don't neglect hunting animals, that's how you upgrade your various inventories.

One of the videos shows the PS4 home screen, but we don't know for certain that it'll be cross-gen like that.

I have no attachment to the franchise, actually enjoyed the game, and even I'll say they were right. He's so deliberately fourteen-year-old boy's flavor of edgy. Like the game opens with him having a threesome.

i know some of the chatter is just games testers (my friends did this a bunch in gametesting multiplayer games), and not the final product, but the way AAA games are animated and acted out i doubt they were using a stand in. Especially this late in production even if it is a non indie "alpha"

I'm talking about dialogue and the like though. As someone else said, the look isn't too big a deal since there's customization and GTA protagonists have always been fairly generic.

I think my issue is mostly with their personality (from what little i've seen in the videos).. They don't really feel.. I don't know.. Interesting? Fleshed out? Feels more like how i'd expect a saints row/gtao character to feel..

Again though, this is probably the most alpha of alpha footage. Stuff like personality and the like would probably be the last thing you'd add.

I have to imagine it's a super early build, it probably is mostly GTA V at this point.

I will say that the only quibble I have with the gameplay is that you don't have an interface to individually load every round in your gun or selecting the door handle on the car for the sake of realistic immersion, so it may not be GTA6.
