I wanted one of the Rise one's too but I never found any. Granted I didn't look that hard but I like the flagships and buddies for this game.

On an unrelated note what's everyone's most interesting Investigation? I got an Afflicted Lunagaron feat. Apex Arzuros and Valstrax at level 90-ish. I'm hoping I can grind it to 100 soon but doing this multiple times in a row is tiring.

Post 13 is my jam, but I'm a noodle slut so I'm fine with Nissin/Maruchan. I've had the brands in the OP too but not the shrimp flavored MAMA one specifically.

I think this is the only one of your lists where I've played every game. My favorites among these in particular are Super Metroid and Crosscode.

Second game was great, and probably one of my favorite things I played last year. If they ever gave us more non-vg content I would've liked it to be like the Overture episodes or whatever they're called. That's about as close to a Gravity Rush anime that we ever got.

Live action Gravity Rush would almost certainly be terrible.

Sometimes hard to adjust ZSD usage going from anomaly quests to regular quests. You're generally free to use ZSD with reckless abandon against afflicted monsters thanks to bloodblight. But then I started using it at unsafe moments in just a regular Magnamalo hunt and got killed a couple times because of it. Funny how that works out.

You ever try Blood Rite in regular hunts with Switch Axe? Latching to heads with ZSD isn't too hard and they're broken often enough that Blood Rite gives you a ghetto Bloodblight/Health augment. Still not very safe depending on what you're stuck to though, or as good as when you have Bloodblight.

I played a bunch of MHW, and I thought I knew the mechanics well enough, but after picking up Rise, why do I feel like I suddenly know nothing about the game?

What's giving you trouble specifically? The moveset is a bit more similar than it is to 3rd and 4th gen SA. Power phials take longer to charge in this game naturally due to how much better the amped state is, but the new Elemental Burst Counter kinda just skips that drawback. ZSD now has superarmor so it's like you always have Rocksteady on during the move, and you can cancel its recovery animation with Soaring Wyvern whatever. Rather than only using sword combo's the new bnb involves using one of the new transform combo's after Double Slash(A on NS controls), so the combo is A, ZR, ZR, repeat. The other new transform combo(which I barely use but it's there) is in axe mode after any overhead attack that slams like the air X, Overhead Smash(switch skill that replaces the lunging stab), and a standing X.

There's a skill that's almost tailor made for Switch Axe called Rapid Morph. At max level it speeds up transform attacks by 30% and increases their damage by 20%. This is like the first thing you stick on a Switch Axe build and the main reason these transform combo's are so good.

I beat just Zone 5 with Nocturna finally. The Conductor is such a hectic fight omg. I wish I got an achievement or something for that fight but I guess I'll have to do it again in All Zones mode.

Not sure what I'll mess with next in the game. I haven't used Dorian or Eli at all yet, and I wanna put more time into Chaunter and Klarinetta.

Anyone up for playing tonight? I might hunt Scorned for a bit because I want one more weapon, and finish augmenting a weapon or two hopefully.

I have 506 at 145 Investigations, and I think I've only finished one or two of Bahari's requests.

I didn't have my current gaming PC until after Rise had already come out, and there's no way I'm restarting a Monster Hunter game. This shit takes too much time, and I play every weapon so that's a lot of re-grinding I would've had to do.

I might start MH6 on PC but we'll see what it's like when it gets here I guess. Stuff like this and Fromsoft games feel much nicer at higher FPS. I played Dark Souls 2 at both 30 and 60 and it felt like a huge difference.

Any particular parts you need? I think I've got enough off of those two hunts for like two more weapons.

Dude I think at one point Nargacuga tail spinned three times in a row. I don't know why he was so weird that hunt. Also targeted the wrong monster for some reason because I'm dumb, and only realized what was wrong because I knew my weapon was the wrong element.

I'm doing individual zones with Nocturna right now and holy shit the Conductor feels like a bit of a step up from the second Necrodancer fight. I even went into the fight with full health and still died :/

I spent all my Lance time in vanilla Rise getting gud at the Spiral Thrust counter since I used it over Anchor Rage. Skyward Thrust is nice in a few matchups like the final bosses and Valstrax, but it's Spiral Thrust for me most of the time since Skyward just doesn't feel worth it unless you can consistently land most of its descending hits.

Btw what are you using for your switch skills? I know elemental Lance's are popular with Leaping Thrust off of Guard Dash right now which is very easy to aim, and doesn't have anything weird going on with monster hitboxes. Charged slaps get some nice numbers but it's so awkward if you're on the wrong side and hits like an arm or something.

Hope your taste and smell comes back TC. My mom caught Covid last month, and then passed it on to my dad while he had the Flu. They're both fine now but my mom's taste still isn't back at 100% and I'm hoping there's no other long term stuff affecting them that we don't know about. We're all fully vaxxed but it still worries me.

Any idea how you got it?

Starting out event quests strong with absolute garbage.

It was like this least year too iirc. I was hoping we'd at least get a Challenge Quest even if they started off with something weak like Tetranadon was the first for Rise. But like why advertise the quests with both Metal Raths and a double Furious Rajang one without releasing one of them in the first week?

Man Basarios really sucks. Got a request for him so I'm doing a few hunts for it. Just an all-around nuisance of a monster.

I wish he didn't have a severable tail. It's probably the most annoying partbreak in the game with how small it is. I've had bad luck with the research requests so I haven't really been doing them, but I need the coins because I want the guild card award(3000 coins spent!).

Oh snap one of the first level 100 quests I unlock is a 1 faint Aurora Somnacanth.

Made it to research level 100. The 99 quest I was just doing didn't get leveled up though. I wonder which monster I should grind to 100 first.

I'm not sure how much time I've put between my two playthrough's plus the DLC, but I loved it. 70 hours sounds long for a first playthrough but I don't know what the average time is like.

So I only just now found out you can manually change the element of the wall beetles. I even read stuff like Hunter's Journal pages and didn't think the line about external stimuli changing their color was anything other than lore/flavor text.

I wonder what else I'm missing from the new stuff.

Yeah the higher level investigations are really great for rewards. It feels like there's maybe no reason outside of crown farming to do the regular quests.

That was a pretty cool ending with the Water Strike counter, but damn was that trap too late. How nice of Nargacuga to leave the enraged state right before he jumped back down.

Volvidon's always fun, but not the best practice for getting back to Spinning Axe. At least I got some nice KO's on Apex Rathian.

I miss the 3DS themes and wish the Switch had stuff like that. Some of them even had music.

Melody felt way easier to beat the first 4 zones with than Cadence, or maybe I'm getting better at the game now. I have no clue if I'm ever going to beat it with Aria after looking at her drawbacks so I guess the story will just be left hanging there.

I messed around with Zone 5 and it was pretty neat, but weirdly easier than 4. I also messed around with Suzu which was fun but holy shit is it easy to just zip into a room and get her killed.

Ugh feel like I played like shit that hunt. Lots of easily avoidable hits.
