Something I've been wondering about Zelda 1 Second Quest. How was the player supposed to figure out they can just walk through some walls in a dungeon? As a kid, I think I just ran at a wall because I was angry at it and then it just worked.

IIRC theres a portion of the dungeon map that you just cant get to otherwise that has the Raft you NEED to finish the game

Theres a rule to the pushable blocks too but I forget exactly what it is. Something like the only pushable blocks are farthest left and closest to the bottom of the screen

I THINK theres a rule to the burnable trees but I cant remember it at all, but IIRC they break the rule once where theres a hidden Heart Container which is rude

BTW in case you didnt know, there is at least one chest in every Shrine, and there will be a chest icon by the name of the Shrine on the map if you got every chest within.

That shrine surrounded by spikes is a great example of how the game allows creative puzzle solving. You can get into it either by the way you did, or by making an ice pillar with Cryonis and jumping over

Ive seen plenty of people just completely forget about Cryonis there though

Arrows hit as hard as the power of the bow youre using. It doesnt really make a ton of sense

Everyone shits on modern day MCU effects, but pre-transformation Steve is incredibly done, both in effects and acting. I never even doubted he was real, and it wasnt until after the movie that I realized it must have been some special effect.

The Red Skull effects are also great

Shout out to one brilliant shot in particular that sticks with me: Steve not quite measuring up in the soldier propaganda mirror. I love how that tells an entire story in one image.

The only kinda vague guidance I really want to give is follow the Impa quest line first until you get your Sheikah Slate upgraded. Itll be at the next place you go after Kakariko.

So this game and its DLC have been discontinued as the car licenses expired, but I managed to grab the base game when it was free on Games with Gold. I waited until last month to start playing it though, and I like it! The completionist in me is unsatisfied, though, without being able to access the DLC

I like Iron Man 2 well enough for it to be my 4th favorite Phase 1 movie but man, trying to do Avengers setup co-exist with the self contained story of the movie is a mess

Fury literally shows up with a magic Deus ex machina syringe that pauses the central conflict poisoning threat for no great reason. Sucks the tension right out of that entire thing.

Theres lots of great SUBTLE universe building done in the movie, but the inclusion of Natasha detracts far more than it enhances

I'm reminded of the book Flatland. It's a book about a 2D world where the inhabitants are all 2D beings, but the really interesting thing about it IMO is the extremely rigid caste system they have and how this was apparently not seen as unusual in Victorian times when it was published.

Basically, male inhabitants of Flatland are regular polygons, and every generation they are on good behavior, the next generation of the family will gain one side. So a pentagon would have a square as a father and a hexagon as a son. Your status in society is basically solely determined by how many sides you have, with circles being the most elite (since they have "infinite" sides).

But, people who are born as irregular polygons are treated as defective and with extreme prejudice. And irregular triangles are apparently very common - the social ladder only starts with equilateral triangles which are the lowest rung of the middle class but there are many irregular triangles who belong to the lower class. How low you are as an isoceles triangle depends on how pointy you are - the sharper the angle the lower you are in society. And apparently it takes many generations of good behavior for a very pointy triangle's family to become equilateral, which allows them to start on the social ladder.

Anyways, the narrator (a square) describes the very pointy isoceles as a class of criminals. So they're criminals because of their geometric shape, not because of any crime they committed.
