For those to have meaning, you'd need very in-depth studies breaking down the owners of pitbulls as well. There's no doubt they're more aggressive than the average dog, but you can probably place a majority of attacks on horrible owners who buy them because of that reputation. We're probably still talking about less than 1% of the dog population actually doing the attacking.

Depends on context, but more likely than not the person is probably just an asshole.

This always confuses me. What definition of racism are people using? Excluding the Twitter crowd, every definition Ive ever seen includes a little addendum saying that its usually marginalized groups in particular, but theres never any part of it that actually excludes majority groups from it. Its certainly the definition of systemic racism, but I dont think anybody is ever talking about that specifically in these broad discussions.

The people who unironically use it definitely mean it as such, but it's nothing that needs to be at all taken seriously. It's just more of an indicator of who is LARPing as an activist online.

Who actually does that though? There are times where hardware would be preferable, especially speedrunning, but otherwise it's negligible.

The particular problem with the suspension of disbelief is that fantasy creatures are usually small-knit homogeneous communities. Whether created or evolved, extraordinary variances in skin color aren't going to inherently make sense to the viewer unless given an explanation of the creator god purposely doing that or the community consisting of creatures from varying regions that diverged over time. So it's less that they "can't" have variances and more that you wouldn't expect them without a much larger, widespread population like humans.

At the end of the day, it really doesn't matter because it's all down to real world casting choices, but the logic behind some of the arguments about it can get weird.

It's definitely lazy writing regardless of whether you think it's necessary or not to accommodate real life actors. I think the "it's fantasy so it doesn't matter" argument is the silliest. If the character could pass as an adult if their age is listed as an adult age, then it seems fairly silly to moralize about it. Its kind of the reverse of the 1000 year old dragon meme. All that matters is the perceived age of the character design, not the in-universe reasoning of their age.

It's weird how impactful this feels despite her essentially being irrelevant to anything outside of the UK. Guess that's just what living for 1500 years does to ingrain someone into popular culture.

There's a time, place, and audience. The time was out of nowhere. The place was a channel that had and has no qualms about sexualizing women. The audience is a fresh set of eyes returning to a dormant IP after close to ten years. There are ways they could have addressed the topic, like a full episode where they talked about it and how G4 partook in it if they wanted to really get a message out there. They instead shoved it into a random segment and backpedaled instantly.

Hard to say if it had any real impact, but it was definitely a smarmy, ill-placed message. I don't think it was necessarily wrong, but not the time and place for it at all.

Some of these character models just looks so uncanny valley. They definitely went too hard on trying for more realism.

I think the problem in discourse comes from people lumping it all together as one cohesive item. There are certainly problem areas to discuss and figure out, but there are quite a few factors of it that are very easily explained away. Making it out to be a larger problem than it is obfuscates the issues that should be solved.

I hate it when media personalities complain about this shit. There's no such thing as equal pay in a field where your very existence dictates your worth. You get paid what you're worth to the project through negotiation. You can argue that particular projects may stiff people relative to their actual value or argue for more openness in what your coworkers are getting paid to allow for fairer negotiation, but not every star has the same value to a project.

Mostly good but the bad ones are very notable because laws dealing accountability are really shitty and broken.

You most likely are somehow miscalculating the calories. I assume no activity can affect the maintenance amount, but I doubt it can half it. Do you do any cheat days? If you're chowing down one day per week, that could kill all progress you've made.

Adults can like things for kids. It doesn't change that it's made for kids, and if you're playing pokemon and complaining it doesn't have the narrative depth of Breaking Bad the game isn't the problem.

Pokemon isn't the best example because they've definitely regressed from being more of an all ages thing to overly simplifying it in a lot of aspects. You can still have fun with it in the same way, but you now have to play counterintuitively to get what should be a more open gameplay experience.

Seems completely fair given the very specific circumstances in the overlap between gangs and certain rappers. It shouldn't be the only evidence, but seems fair to take it as an admission of guilt if the person can reasonably be tied to the crime.

That's ultimately just seeking to toss away responsibility from an act that required two people. If woman didn't have the burden of childbirth, it still would require the consent of both parents to do anything with the child, and both parents would be saddled with all the responsibility. As for current child support, usually anything to do with that is due to fuckery from the judge rather than actual fairness.

Under the current system, both parents have a duty to provide for the child financially no matter financial status or who has primary custody. Those with great disparity in income may choose to waive that right, but it's always there. Under a hypothetical where the government provides children with financial support, then there would be no inherent need to burden those who want no part in it.

Even if right now artificial wombs became a thing, it would still require both parents to consent to terminate the child and both parents to consent for one of them to give up their rights and obligations, so taking the burden away wouldn't really anything in regards to parental rights.

Yes. Sex is basically a contract that one may conceive a child. So, as long as it is consensual, both parties are agreeing to that possible outcome and both have to bear responsibility for it under our current system. In that contract, the woman gets more control over the outcome because she is taking most of the risk. In a different system years or decades down the line where we can assure the child will be given all the financial support needed, then the man should just be able to fuck off if he wants.

Yes, one party has an extraordinarily higher burden, so they have more freedom of control. In the case of the man not wanting the woman to abort, that will only be a viable discussion once artificial womb technology is viable. In the case of the man wanting the woman to abort, that will never be a viable discussion, but the option of abandoning responsibility could be one if the country can figure out how to care for unwanted and abused children better.

That's the burden on them for having sex without preparing for the consequences. One man could conceive five children in one night and have no physical burden whatsoever, while five women would have to deal with it for nearly a year afterwards. Both parties are equally at fault for negligence, but the mother bears more of a physical burden and thus has more control over the situation. The father then has to bear part of the financial burden afterwards.

It's a topic with more nuance than "every single German soldier was a pure evil bastard worthy of death," but the general sentiment that they were and are a group representing an evil ideology stands true.

Probably an evolving live service game with various different types of gameplay, probably focused on some kind of multiversal travel through a large number of different environments. The bad part about live service stuff is that they have to focus on monetization, but taking that out means you don't have to worry about gatekeeping people out of content.

Seems weird that they don't have optional filters that people can fill out. I get that forcing them to fill them out could be seen as offensive, but allowing things like "masculine-presenting" and "feminine-presenting" to be selected would make things easier on both sides.

Fairness is already out the window when one parent is already more significantly burdened than the other. The mother having ultimate control over keeping or terminating the pregnancy isn't a benefit. It's just a necessity that comes with having to be the one who is saddled with carrying and birthing the child.

Anyone who speaks like that is definitely just a horrible person using political activism as a springboard to feel superior to others. Luckily, they're not a majority, but it does sadly hurt the image of activism when they're a loud minority.
