Buying a few less B-52s to increase prison quality to best reduce general rape would certainly be a good thing, but not having someone capable of impregnating the general population is a slightly higher tier concern.

Or the inmate has no viable relatives, leading the child into a system which seems to be full of sad horror stories. Or the inmate has horrible, shitty relatives who will then go on to abuse the child. "Maybe the best case scenario will play out" shouldn't be our hope with preventable situations. And this is the case for a consensual sexual act, which is not always going to be the case.

I like how it says similar rather than saying if any of them are literally exactly the same. I've said twice that I don't know the statistics on police brutality in general (and reliable measurements probably don't exist), so I'm not commenting on that. If someone is saying they're afraid of being harassed or harmed by police, that is probably a realistic fear.

What exactly do you think I'm saying? Literally all of those things have next to no chance of happening to someone. You can be worried about the state of mass shootings without having a panic attack every time you enter a grocery store. We're surrounded by random minute chances of death every minute of every day, so acting like someone has a high chance to be affected by an extraordinarily rare event is just dumb. We have issues in the country, but be realistic about how they're going to affect you and the average person.

Seems like quite a lot to me! And that's not even the full number. The numbers show how many total killings per year are recorded in the linked lists, not the actual number of people killed by law enforcement.

That's an extraordinarily tiny amount of people if you're trying to determine someone's chance of being killed in any random police encounter. Comparing it to other countries, it's a serious per capita issue. Breaking it down by race, it's a serious per capita issue. We can recognize these numbers are too high without acting like 1/5 people are being shot in the head on a daily basis.

Pruning that down to police murdering civilians and maybe giving a bit of leeway for police cover ups, you're now talking about such a small amount of the population that multiplying the number by ten probably won't affect the decimal point. If you want to talk about experiencing non-fatal police brutality, that's a different story. I have zero clue as to any statistics on that, but the chance of anyone winding up dead is so exceedingly low that it's silly to worry about it on a day-to-day basis. We can recognize problems in policing without being overly hyperbolic about it.

Having a per capita issue doesn't make something likely to happen to the average person. If you're worried about getting shot by the police, you should probably be worried about driving anywhere. You're probably looking at similarly low odds of dying with every action you take.

Is this actually a problem the average person even needs to worry about? I have no idea about statistics related to harassment, but I'm quite sure the chance of being unjustly murdered by cops is somewhere in the vicinity of winning a very undesired lottery.

Should have worded it differently. "Had a choice between two methods" pretty clearly states that he can only pick one. "Given the choices of" would allow for multiple choices to be made under the framework of the question.

It's undeniably weird, but some people like them big.

There were two options:

Incoming Missile
Incoming Missile -- Drill

The operator was supposed to click on Drill. However, he was sloppy, and clicked on the first option, which was not a drill. Most Hawaiians got a text message saying that a missile was incoming

This was not the first time that the operator had clicked the wrong option. It had happened before, but the first time it did not go to all Hawaiians. Since this was his second major error, he was fired

I never found out if they reprogrammed the system so that it is more intuitive

I think there's too large of a percentage of bad anime/game VAs. The only bad voice I can even really think of in Japanese would be Franky from One Piece and a few minor grating bit characters here and there.

So you never want to have anything more than the bare necessities? It would certainly make work less of a priority for people living paycheck to paycheck, but it doesn't negate working unless you already have everything you'd ever want. You're still going to have to work for anything more than that, and no sleep would give you the time to do that and more anyway.

Why would anyone not choose sleep? Who willingly would pass on the opportunity to have 5-30 years of spare free time?

There's definitely more bullshit in games due to rising complexity and smaller and smaller time windows in which those games are expected to be released. I'd rather publishers just learn to delay games as long as needed to make sure they have as competent of a product as possible. Some bugs will slip through the cracks because it's impossible to check every one of the probably billion scenarios, but so many games release in what's basically a beta state until the first big patch.
