I am very disappointed I slept on that series for a decade because I played Mana Khemia on the PSP. I can vouch for at least the Dusk Trilogy (Ayesha, Escha & Logy, Shallie) as being very solid JRPGs with great crafting systems.

Outdated hardware even at launch, awful graphics, awful gimmick, rampant piracy because Nintendo learned NOTHING from the DS. I only ever purchased 3 games for it and only played 2 of them. Almost didn't buy a Switch because of it.

I just find it boring / pointless, and more than anything tiring.

The people who are doing this are very dedicated to the scene and have been there for a very long time (we are talking about 20 years here, ever since the very first Renown Folder FAQ posted on GameFAQs). People like me have been saying for years the series needs/deserves a modern PC port because it has huge hidden potential, especially with EXE6 which has a very healthy metagame and huge build diversity. The only reason other EXE games are not played competitively is because EXE6 is the only one with support for the wireless adapter.

It's relatively unknown outside of its bubble, but that bubble has always existed since the mid-2000s.

And no, before people ask, One Step From Eden is sadly not the game you want it to be. Battle Network is so obscure that those devs did not even know of its existence until after the game was nearing completion.

The irony is that the series was always conceived as being a type of eSport before the concept really existed.

My argument is more for if the game's main source of end game progression is cosmetics. I'm only arguing partially in good faith when making it because there are some games that have very poor endgame, and what little endgame they have is largely driven by cosmetics. But yes, FOMO and predatory marketing is usually why I make the argument. The argument largely started because of how predatory Star Trek Online is.

I also find the argument fun to make to see how people react to it (if at all).

This is how it's always been done VBA-Link + Hamachi. I guess they use a VPN now but it's the same concept.
Random trivia: I participated in their very first tournament but bailed out because I did not like the connection quality and the game was incredibly difficult to play. I believe this has been since resolved.
