I had to put a lot more thought into this because it wasn't clicking, but once I realized all I had to do was simply save the operator to a new variable, and then use that variable against my operate() function, it became a lot more clear. So now the logic is working as intended. I'm finished with version 1 of my calculator, now I just need to clean up my code and get the clear and delete buttons working.

Played a bunch and got to Spring 17. On Spring 10 was the 30 day anniversary of my marriage to Ran so I found out she's pregnant. Not sure what the gender will be as I said I will be happy either way, but I'm hoping for a boy. There's only one child in this game, correct? I think in Animal Parade you could have two. On Spring 15 I got my first pet. I got the Bengal cat and named him after my real cat.

My second cow got pregnant so I now have three cows. My second sheep is still pregnant but I think she has like nine days until she gives birth. I have an alpaca so after her wool grows back I'll be getting her pregnant next.

My chickens are doing good. I have all four bred to be able to get ten hearts so now I'm just waiting. I decided to sell my chicken that won the festival because she only had six hearts and couldn't get any more. Ever since winning I didn't get a single golden egg so it's no big loss.

My horse is at max hearts. Tomorrow is the spring derby so he'll be racing. I ride him a lot and take him everywhere I go so I'm thinking I can win.

I have a TON of spring crops growing. Got three nature sprites watering them and one harvesting them all. I have to help them a bit with watering because they don't always finish but they're doing a great job.

Have all my tools to mythril except for fishing pole which will soon have enough experiene for gold.

As for everyone else: since I have a horse now I'm not wasting as much time walking around. I'm able to give more gifts to people so I've been giving lots of eggs, grapes, honey and milk.

I'm down to only 9,000 gold. After buying all my crops and buying a cat + disc, and upgrading my bag, I'm low on funds. I haven't sold my cabbage yet though so I'll have more soon.

Any input? This is my task.

Make the calculator work! Youll need to store the first number that is input into the calculator when a user presses an operator, and also save which operation has been chosen and then operate() on them when the user presses the = key.

And these are my previous tasks which I've already completed, except for step 4 which I may have messed up. I used a for loop for that.

One thing is I'm having trouble connecting the operate() function to everything else. I don't know how to make it so any time a + or - button is pressed, it activates and takes the number. I also don't know if I did the for loop correctly because I can't seem to find a way to make it so the operators are ignored. I've tried wrapping them in different if statements and use !isNaN but can't figure it out. I only want the for loop to work if I'm pressing one of the numbers.

I know it will click soon but could use some advice.

Next I had to create an operate function which I'll end up using to add / subtract everything. I used an if / else statement instead of the ternary operator. I was going to use the ternary operator but because I had to use multiple lines it doesn't look as nice as the if / else statement.

Then I used a for loop to loop through all the keys so now when I press them, a number shows up. For now it just logs to the console I just need to do some more research on storing them properly.

Diamonds are for jewellery and yeah after floor 10 for adamantite but it is rare iirc.

I feel so dumb because I was in the winter mine and not the spring one. Luckily I needed to get the power berry on floor 19 anyway.

They're life savers. There are so many crops in the Autumn and I could not water them all by myself.

Maybe make a scientific calculator as a stretch project? I haven't done much coding so I'm not sure how much (extra) work that would be

I'm sure it would take me a while but right now I'm focusing on getting better at logic so I'm going to expand this project as much as I can.

If I recall correctly it is fairly easy to convert numbers to hex or binary and back. The calculator display would need some sort of toggle to know thats what the user wants, then it would be a fairly simple process of determining what mode the calculator is in, converting the input into decimal, doing the calculations as normal and then converting back to either hex or binary. At least thats one way to potentially do it.

I figured I would need to do different modes. I did a very basic Etch a Sketch when I had to do that project, but some people were suggesting I expand it and add a rainbow color mode.

This is my calculator now. I like these colors a lot better. I may tweak the blue and red a bit but this will work for now. I also changed the text content of the p tag inside the screen div so I could mess with the sizing. There's no logic yet but I did create a few arrow functions for the operators like the project says to.

I'm wondering if there's a cleaner way to do this. Like create an array and have all four operators inside of it and adjust the logic inside the function based on what button I press. Something like...

const { add, subtract, multiply, divide } = (a, b) => a ? b;

Decimal yeah. Hex and binary I only slightly understand. I would need to do a lot more research. But since you mentioned it I'll give it a try. Sounds like a good way to challenge myself.

Nope. I do that now as well. Autumn gives tons of flowers so I'm stocked up.

This is how it looks now after you change the display to grid and change the grid-template-columns to repeat(4, 1fr). Also have to add some column-gap so it doesn't look bunched together.

Looks out of order. But if you add grid-column: span 2 and create a new class to add the span onto, it changes the display and gives more distinction to the clear and delete buttons.

And now it looks better.

Had to add some spacing and change the font size so it looks more like a calculator but this is good enough for now.

I'll clear the bottom up and some up with a better color design tomorrow.

For now I need to start focusing on the logic to make the calculator functional.

My HTML and CSS is okay but you don't really need to be an expert at those to make these beginner projects.

What sucks though is I've never used grid and now I have to since I want my calculator to look good.

Bored and decided to go back to The Odin Project. I'm nearing the end of the JavaScript fundamentals and the last project is a calculator. I've made a few calculators in the past but they were all ugly and basic. This time I'm going to spend more time and make one that looks beautiful.

It's very ugly right now and I decided to use gray for the time being because it's easy on the eyes.

But soon it will be beautiful.
