Cutiefly probably went up against one of my really huge favorites (a Pokemon in the top 10 or so) rather early on and that might have been why it finished really low in the final rankings from the sorter. Even though it's totally wrong.

The sorter was a bit weird for me as well. Somehow it ended up having Cutiefly near the bottom of the list, when that is way off.

The sorter works quite well for the Pokemon near the top of my list, but then turns to shit in the middle and bottom placements.

Correct, the Board 8 Discord server replaces the older "board8chat" AIM chatroom. Steiner literally killed board8chat with an iron fist when he made the Discord server. board8chat quickly died out when the Discord server was created.

Cosmog, Cosmoem, Pyukumuku

Pyukumuku really shouldn't be on that list. It can do damage with Bide and Counter, and at least they can use those moves to gain access to an attacking Z-Move. Pyukumuku can also use Toxic to deal damage.

Cosmog and Cosmoem are the only known Pokemon that have no direct way of doing damage without the use of Struggle. They don't get any attacking moves, which means they don't have access to Z-Moves that can do damage. They also don't have access to moves like Toxic or Will-O-Wisp.

I have yet to beat the original Moon because it wasn't fun - it was the same old, same old, just easier than ever before and with a lifeless, boring region. The fact that Nintendo is doing this now is basically admitting that S&M sucked.

The first 2 games from each generation is usually lacking in content so they can release a third version or sequels later on to improve upon the first 2 games. Now, this was a major problem with X/Y since those games never got to see a third version or sequels, which left many people disappointed since the games still had some loose ends and unresolved plot points.

Karo, wouldn't you be annoyed if you had to participate in a second Gen VII Ranking Project if we do get totally new Pokemon in US/UM? We're better off if we avoided having to run a second Gen VII Ranking Project.

Also, I pointed out that meta voting would be a serious concern in a second project. People who didn't submit a list for the first project can shake up the list by meta voting and Steiner can't prove it since they don't have a previous list to compare to.

I think we need to see what happens during Nintendo's E3 presentation or Treehouse stream before Steiner can decide on a specific course of action here. If new Pokemon are revealed during E3, the ranking project should be put on hold until early 2018. If there aren't any new Pokemon reveals, then the ranking project should proceed as planned.

Well, I interpreted this as "new Gen VII Pokemon". (either new Alolan Forms or an extension to the main Gen VII Pokemon)

I think it might be a good idea for Steiner to hold off on doing Gen VII Pokemon Rankings due to the announcement of Pokemon Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon. After watching the video, I found this interesting piece of information:

At around that point in the video, they literally said "featuring Pokemon that didn't appear in the original versions".


This suggests that US/UM will have completely new Pokemon. It would be great to have those new Pokemon included in Gen VII Pokemon Rankings. Unless Steiner actually puts Gen VII Pokemon Rankings on hold until early 2018, those new Pokemon won't get a chance to appear in the ranking project. Meta voting would be a serious concern if Steiner had to run a second Gen VII Rankings Project since people would already know how the Pokemon from Sun/Moon fared in the overall rankings. People who didn't participate in the first Gen VII Rankings Project could easily shake up the second ranking project through meta voting and there would be no way to prove it since they didn't submit a list for the first ranking project.

The trailer suggests US/UM has an alternate story to S/M, so it might be a good idea to play S/M first. If you're still not sure if this going to be like BW2, you could wait like maybe 1 or 2 more months until we get more information on US/UM.

Points in favor of RB remakes:
- Pokemon GO was/is a huge success, there's a lot of money in the nostalgia now.
- They're the only ones you can't play on the 3DS not counting virtual console.
- In relation to that, it's been the longest since we've visisted them. FRLG are older than DP.
- The GBA is two generations of consoles ago, just in line with any other remake.
- SM is extremely packed with Kanto references. Red and Blue appaering is perhaps the biggest hint.
- Lillie goes to Kanto in SM, perhaps indicating some continuation of the story over there, although this might hint more to a game that takes place there, rather than a direct remake.
- The 20th movie that is coming this month (already had a sneak peak in France I believe) is a throwback to when Ash was in kanto.

One advantage for RB remakes is the ability to revisit Kanto under the current Physical/Special split, which didn't exist in the FRLG games.

X/Y kinda sucked.

Pokemon Sun/Moon is a lot better, though. The game does start out a bit slow in the beginning, but the story really starts picking up the pace once you reach the second island (about maybe 2 hours into the game). You won't have to wait very long for the story to start moving. Pokemon X/Y was a lot worse in that area, as the story didn't really start picking up the pace until at least 10 hours into the game (and there's a pretty huge gap between getting the first and second badge).

Poka, I'm surprised you aren't hyped this year considering how much of a hot start the Switch has gotten off to. The Switch has started out with some very strong sales so far, and finding a Switch in stores has been difficult for a lot of people. 2017 is also shaping up to be one of the best years for video games in recent times, with Breath of the Wild and Persona 5, and we're not even half-way through the year yet.

If there is a reason to be hyped for E3, it's for Nintendo and what they have planned out for the Switch (since it's selling very well).

2015 was the first year where Bethesda hosted their own press conference, so there might have been some hype for that conference. People might have been thinking they would drop a major game announcement, like the next Elder Scrolls. It was already known before Bethesda's 2015 press conference that Fallout 4 would be coming out, so the press conference simply showed off gameplay from the upcoming game.


Nintendo's performance in today's poll looks fairly unimpressive considering the amazing start for the Switch, so I would have expected some hype for Nintendo based on that alone. Nintendo is only doing about 5% better than the 2015 poll despite today's poll having only 7 options (instead of 8 for the 2015 poll).

Well yes there wouldn't be much drama for the Champ in 2017 (unless Mario's amazing), but I'd still like to see how the other 12 matches would shake out and be able to make x-stats based on what holds up to Zelda the best.

Tapu Fini is fairly bulky, but I don't consider it a stall Pokemon. In fact, Tapu Fini is considered what is called a "stallbreaker", Pokemon that can be used to deal with opposing stall Pokemon. Tapu Fini can even be used as a hazard remover (with Defog).
