Why does this happen to me so often?

I talk to a customer service rep, and they ask me to wait a little bit while they search. So I get put on wait and the little music is playing.

Then, five minutes later the line hangs up.

And when I call back, I get a new person and I have to re-explain the problem over again. And the same thing happens. I get put on hold and the line goes dead.

Dammit guys.

Like, the attraction is supposed to be geared toward an outside thing (either a guy or a girl)

How does your brain KNOW to form the image of your attraction to something that actually does exist in that external reality (guys or girls)?

Like, your brain could make you attracted to some kind of randomly-generated creature that doesn't actually exist in nature, but it looks like there is some kind of process in the brain that actually creates an object of attraction inside of your mind that just happens to correspond to something that actually exists exactly as such in reality

Calculus 2 is tough, but very feasible. It all depends on your teacher.

If you're unlucky like me, you end up with a Greek Calculus teacher who wrote his own book, thought Calculus 2 was nonsense, and so instead focused %100 on proofs.

Well I'm going to have an indian teacher and I heard some people say that students don't like him because he has a huge accent and is sometimes hard to understand

Basically...

I did calculus 1 last winter (derivatives) and I did well.

But I took a quick look at some of the stuff in calculus 2 (integrals) and I'm kind of concerned because I saw a lot of equations with the sort of strange E notation (the symbol for sums). I think it's related to series. The problem is that I never did anything with series/sequences and I have no idea how to use it

I also know pretty much nothing about probability and vectors

But I'm good at algebra and trig.

Should I drop out of cal 2??? I don't know

I have some bad news for you. We've been doing that for centuries. I don't see language purists whining about how we stopped writing in Old English.

This is just a lame topic whining about political correctness and/or millennials.

Languages evolve with time, but that's not the same as just going guerilla warfare on every little grammatical quirk that could be offensive

In my case I grew up using he this way and it just seems normal and harmless to me... I always thought it's just a grammar thing and it's not supposed to offend anybody.

I feel like we live in a generation of extreme self censorship... it's like if we constantly have to be careful of every thing we do or else someone will get offended. I'm not saying we should be able to whip it out on a public bus or something, but...

I was taught that 'he' was the pronoun to use when the gender if the person is unknown (aka, a random generic person)

The so-called political spectrum isn't exactly a science. I know they call it political "science" but anyway.

The truth is that it can mean whatever you want it to mean.

The far left and the far right are made out to be the furthest positions you could possibly have. And yeah, theoretically if you write down the ideological motivations then they're pretty different.

But I don't think living in a fascist country and living in a communist regime is all that much different in practice. In both cases you have an authoritarian government with absolute power and the people themselves have no rights since the individual is considered to be much less important than the collectivity.

In a way, both "far left" and "far right" are extreme collectivism. Even the fascist symbol represents how a bunch of sticks bound together are stronger than one single stick by itself. The individual must be sacrificed for the many.

For the communists it's the "proletariat." For the nazis it was the master race. Whatever. The reality is that under both of those you yourself as a human being have pretty much no rights and you can be jailed, put to death, etc., for extremely minor things.

So as far away as far left and far right are ideologically, living under them is not that different of an experience.

From what I heard, a private train stopped at the local train station in the village. It was carrying some kind of super rich arab sheik with his wives and concubines and their entourage.

They wanted ice cream.

It seems they needed so much that they basically bought all the ice cream in the village.

For the next two days none of the places in the village had any ice cream and no one could get any ice cream.

I have a brother color laser printer

I bought it about a year ago. It always worked perfectly.

I print a lot of pictures, sometimes like 50 straight pages of pictures.

So anyway, recently I bought some generic toners because the 4 toners from brother cost a total of nearly 500 bucks and the equivalent 4 toners with non brand name cost like 150 or something, and the reviews were good.

So I installed the new toners and all of a sudden everything I print is disgusting. Like there's spills all over the pages, the colors are all messed up, there's blank spaces on the pictures, etc. Horrible.

So I resign and remove those toners and replace them with genuine brother toners.

Well, now the problems are continuing. Not only is the print quality horrible but the printer can only grab the papers from the tray half of the times (the other half it thinks the tray is empty). And when it does manage to print, it makes a really loud metallic noise as the paper makes its way inside.

Basically, the printer is now completely useless.

What I suspect is that... somehow, I think Brother hard coded some kind of sabotage mechanism in their printer that would just basically self destroy the printer as soon as it detects a non genuine toner. That would pretty accurately explain what just happens.

I also suspect Barron is Donald and Ivanka's bastard son, but maybe I watch too much Game of Thrones.

I draw the line at how fucking long ago he lived.

His accomplishments live on and, in some ways, we're living in the world that he started to build. But he's a historical figure.

Comparatively, Hitler is a contemporary. Many people alive today lost parents and grandparents because of Hitler. But Columbus was literally 500 years ago, it's just way too late IMO to go back and change street names and remove his statues etc just because we don't like some of the things he did.

Well I don't agree with destroying public property but the fact we celebrate Columbus and have a day for him is outrageous to me.

He was a man of his time and he made great accomplishments that basically completely changed the world as we know it.
