For me, personally, I won't like it.

The point of spending time with one another is......well, SPENDING TIME WITH ONE ANOTHER. Not with some electronic contraption.

As a person who's always on her phone due to work, (emails and arranging client meetings etc etc), I know how hectic a schedule can be. There are times you literally can not get away from work. But there are limits.

If I were on a date I'd assume I had especially planned the time and place, hence there'd be no reason for me or him to be fiddling with the phone. I find it extremely inconsiderate if a person started texting or just browsing in front of me. The environment would just feel distant, devoid of warmth and very impersonal.

Each person made an effort to show up on that date; the least any one of them can do is be "present" during that time.

Emo and shit, maybe, but at least they weren't perving on anything with a pair of t**s. I can't stand that stereotypical shit in works of fiction. I loved how neither Cloud nor Squall gave a mother fuck about the opposite gender. That's how it should be.

Up to a certain degree, I agree.

I think people should at least have a short term plan and a general vision for the future if they want a family.

No one will stay the way they are. That means, if you're financially challenged today, that may change in the future.

We all take risks in life; marriage, the choice of career etc. Having children is no different. Some call it taking a chance and others call it having faith; having faith that the future will be brighter for both parent and child.

That being said, realising and accepting that having children will drastically change one's financial, emotional and physical lifestyles is crucial.

People who are unable to provide for themselves would most likely be unable to provide for their future children. The end result is that the children will grow up with little or no education, hence no chance at employment and will not be able to contribute to society. I realise I'm stereotyping but it is what it is. It is also likely that these children may not live to adulthood.

It's quite a conundrum indeed.

But still, the only thing we can do is understand and accept that choosing to have children is a huge responsibility. We must put their interests first before our own. Failure to do so will be most unfair for the children.

Aim high, work for it, persevere and never give up.

Having kids should be plausible. XD

You actually do see a lot of people getting fat off baked chicken.

JanwayDaahl posted...
Why do you think so many men and women are overweight or obese nowdays. Seriously, guys especially are gross looking and eat so much junk-- unclean diets and sugar addiction run rampant with your average american.

Sedentary lifestyle combined with over-consumption. The sugar claims are mostly garbage and, to drive home the importance of caloric intake vs energy expenditure, we've had quite a few people lose weight while mostly eating at McDonald's.

Pretty much this. The lifestyle ( and mostly the jobs) we have these days lack physical activity. This, combined with unhealthy food, over consumption, genetics and slow metabolism equate being overweight and/or obese.

Exercise is a must. Even just 10 minutes of intense workout is fine but....clearly, people don't partake in this.

Almost every food makes you obese. It's a quantity issue. I'm sure you could get obese on foie gras if you were dedicated enough to it.

edit: Thought I was responding to the OP, hence the foie gras comment, really you can replace that with virtually any food though.

tbh, I'm pretty sure Conner doesn't understand how calories work.

But to be fair it's not just the food that we eat or the amount of food that we eat, there are other factors that influence weight gain and obesity such as genetics and innate body type.

Some can eat and eat without gaining a pound while others eat little and still gain weight.

To be fair it still comes down to how much you eat. Ignoring for the moment that the effect of "fast metabolism" vs "slow metabolism" has been ridiculously overstated it still comes down to CICO.

No matter how you shake it it's an energy balance problem.

Oh absolutely.

Moderation is key.

Personally, I don't even get going until most people are asleep. I'm at my happiest and most productive from about 10 pm to 6 am.

"legit night owl" is just your way of saying "bad habits and lack of sufficient effort to change it"

I really do believe that's it's a matter of conditioning yourself. And the willpower.

Rightfully said, if you're a night owl, the best thing to correct the habit would be NOT to sleep the entire following day until 10pm. By the time you reach 9pm, you'd be drained of all energy; you shouldn't have any problems sleeping and waking early in the morning.

But since it's the habit of being a night owl, this sudden change will be exhausting. Give it a week; persevere and you'll get there.

Much like anything else in life, nothing comes easy and no benefit is gained without a cost.

It says something about you that you need religion to motivate yourself to be a decent human being.

Some of us simply enjoy being pleasant to one another for the sake of making it a kinder world.

That's the point.

SOME of us.

Some are nice, others unpleasant.

The core teachings of religion (at least, mine) is love, faith and charity. Love ye one another. Compassion. Etc etc, what people in power do to manipulate this is on them; on their eternal soul XD

Men are weak; that's the underlying thought. They aren't immune to corruption. That's why religion has a moral code. Whether or not people choose to follow that is a different story altogether.

A solid 8.

Pretty sure there's a similar topic like this....

Professionally speaking, I'm very happy with my firm and my job. I get good pay with some good benefits.

Monetary-wise, I'm pretty stable. I have no liabilities, my expenses are always fully paid, I still manage to save 30% of my income, have enough disposable income to afford some luxuries.

I've managed to purchase a plot of land at a upper-middle class private community that will be fully paid by July. I've also managed to put a life policy in place and am thinking of purchasing a condominium (hopefully) in the next 2 years.

I have no immediate or life-threatening or chronic illness or disability. I'm trying to watch what I eat and get as much excerise as my limited time will allow (which is not much...)

Personal life-wise, I maintain a loving relationship with my family. I have close friends whom I see weekly.

Other factors that make my life happy is that I live in a country that doesn't have taxes (at least not yet). The standard of living is quite above average so it can get expensive if one doesn't account for their earnings and liabilities responsibly.

Drawbacks include not having much time to laze about or have time to pursue personal hobbies. I've said this already, but I'm still trying to improve my life spiritually. So there's that and I feel overworked.

I find it strange that since you're not in a good place, that you'd turn to strangers for.......I'm not really sure what: comfort or validation....?

That's....not really a good thing.

For one thing, you'd spread negative vibes and the instinct for others is to avoid you. No one wants to be shouldered with others' problems. Might seem harsh but it's the truth.

Also, this comes off as a superficial attempt to gain sympathy.....which speaks volumes on the inner workings of your mind.

And if it was true that you're not in a good place right now, this is the last place you should go to for comfort. None of the people here would really know you or.....care. They can give you a virtual pat on the back and say "There, there....". But that's it. And even then, they'd tire of doing that too.

You really need to reach out to people who know, accept and love you IRL.

Just a thought.
