I'm not sure, but I listen to his podcasts fairly often and he presents himself as an alpha male who doesn't back down and wants to always do right by these fighters. What irritated me, like I said, is that he really gave it some thought after the Overeem fight and he seemed adamant that it was wrong and he stated he would not do it again. It didn't make sense to put Cormier on the spot like that, and I would feel the same if it had been Jones instead.

Meh, the dude put his heart and soul into winning against another man who was not only the former champion but also clearly superior to him as a fighter. I was taught firearm safety and use starting at around six years old. I've seen it done correctly with other children as well. That said, there's no way all training is equal or that all children have the same temperament or appreciation for these tools.

So if being transgendered or having gender dysphoria is a real mental illness it will have to be addressed by the scientific and psychiatric community. There is the argument, made by some service members, that trans inclusion into the armed forces could be detrimental to mission readiness because the transition process can take a trans service member out of deployment rotation, for example, for x amount of months. (Sorry, I don't know what x time frame would be, but it's not just a few days.) Of course, this applies to a trans person who did not transition prior to enlistment, and decides to transition during their service career.

My depression has been getting bad again the last couple days and I gotta say, this news is sort of making it worse. I'm virtually never impacted by celebrity deaths, even if I like them and they died tragically, but with LP being my first band and me getting into them at a certain bad point in my childhood, specifically my home life, they're one of the few things I can look back on from that time and have positive memories of, and the angsty lyrics and all that were really cathartic to listen to at that time. And without going into too much detail some of the things Chester talked about going through as a child and at other points hit really close to home for me and I've always had trouble with depression. Something about this is just so... Disheartening. Like for someone else to have gone through and be dealing with similar things but to have gotten to the level he was at in life with fame, fortune, having a family, friends, and tons of fans who all love him, as well as being in the process of seeking help for those issues... For it to still end the way it did for him is kind of taking away some of the confidence I have in myself to ever beat this or at least get to a point where I'm mostly happy with myself and in life.

Fuck man, this just really sucks.

Please get help from a professional. I am not one, so I'm afraid to say more than that.

I think metal tees are a great race-neutral example of needing to be aware of what culture you're taking it from because, unlike other music cultures, it specifically pushes for authenticity and even within its own culture you should probably only wear a band's shirt if you listen to them. They're not interested in outside promotion or commercialization, and in fact often fight against it. So people should be mindful of this when they get a snide comment from a metalhead or a punk for not listening to Slayer or Dead Kennedys, when they wouldn't have received any comment at all for, say, a Radiohead or Green Day shirt, or an unquestioning high five for a Ween or a Dave Matthews Band shirt.

The metal tees one gets me. Even if you raise an eyebrow to the race debate, surely most of you can appreciate some poser wearing a t shirt for a band they don't know.

Honestly, I would laugh in the face of any metal or punk fan if they said anything snide about the band shirts I wear. I don't listen much to either genre anymore, but I still get the shirts as gifts from loved ones who go out of their way to track them down. I'll never really understand the elitism of those groups, I suppose.

The big takeaway for me is that Kylie Jenner and her brand are shady fucks willing to exploit products they can get their hands on. I don't care about the cultural appropriation bit as much as I do about protecting artists, musicians, writers and other creators, regardless of their skin color or culture.
