biggest thing about college is that the undergrad costs vary widely but the return on investment does not correlate well with it

From my experience, WoW, tanks are much less useful in PvP. The name of the game in PvP is large and fast damage.

Humans know to just avoid the tank until everyone is dead, then out dps them. Tanks primarily are useful in pve because they have the ability to keep mobs pulled and not doing damage to the others.

at least in games that are intended to have functional PvP (can't speak for WoW), tanks typically will have a variety of area-control skills that prevent DPS characters from being able to target anyone but them.

In 5e, for example, they have the sentinel and mage slayer feats. PvP in DnD is pretty rare, but it supports it and sentinels' opportunity attacks set opponent speed to 0 on a hit; mage slayers impose disadvantage on enemy casters' concentration saves.

How do they know they're being short changed?

because it is no longer difficult to find data on the market rate for people with your level of skills and qualifications

companies like glassdoor and salary.com make it readily apparent.

this new availability of data is also driving why millenials typically bail on their employers after 5 years. because employers deliberately do not keep up raises with their employees' market worth, even if they pay new employees the market rate.

fundamentally: employers are fucking their workers to improve bottom line, and the difference now is workers know it and are acting in their own self interest.

people respond to incentives.

It's not, but they literally tell you in Driver's Ed that it doesn't matter. If there's people on the road and you can not hit them, you are legally required to not hit them. You absolutely cannot run over people "just because".

This is the key. In theory, these bills would not prevent this, but in practice, they introduce a very high new burden of proof on the prosecution for the drivers in automobile accidents that kill protesters.

I would not be as concerned if it were a general bill about such accidents, but the specific call-out to street protesters is sending an intentional message: "We will not protect you"

people would have more leverage to negotiate better pay if they chose less consumer debt and if labor market participation was less. there's too many people going after too few jobs, and they're not able to negotiate for more pay because they need what they can get in order to pay for their financed BMWs

Unfortunately, the principal driver of debt among the present generation of job-seekers is typically not consumer debt, but student loans.

Also, it's not really that there's too many Americans going after too few jobs. There are plenty of jobs. But many employers create massively mismatched requirement/salary requirements in order to deliberately get no viable applications, and then turn around and use this as justification to seek foreign visa hires.

Globalization hurts that specific subset of the workforce. Harvard's elephant chart does a fine job of illustrating it.

Ohh go fuck yourself. Hubris? Have you ever applied for a job in the tech industry, they want a fucking pile of credentials for a entry level job paying mail clerk wages. The hubris here is from capital trying to take advantage because so many have entered these fields.

Go apply for a tech job, but undercut Monster's average for the "desired wage". Watch what happens.

actually i know what happens because i've seen it in real time: you get a lower counter offer because you are perceived to have no concept of your own value. you get hired, but your avenues for later salary growth are undermined. you are placed in the programs no one wants to work, because management thinks you'll do anything.

when you abandon all hubris, you are also abandoning all self respect, and your employer is not your friend.

it's hilarious when people bash capital for withholding money from labor but don't also give a rip when corruption and bloat in government keep on taking tax dollars out of pay checks

it's much more hilarious when every effort to cut the 'bloat and corruption' results in a wide public outcry because most of it is spent on programs that people want.

on the other hand, capital enjoying growth of productivity from workers while keeping wages stagnant (as adjusted for inflation) is essentially the primary driver of the stock market's growth over the past 40 years.

What's really going on is a standoff between employers and potential workers.

If workers give a little, employers might do the same.

real message:

Workers should just give in and let capital win this battle, as it has all past battles, because I want my investments to resume going up!

The answer given to that question is incredibly dishonest. The level of presented blind optimism is so far off the charts that there's no way for the author to actually be such a fool.

It runs against all historical trends, as well.

Really, the message here is that workers have started to realize that 'growth and jobs' doesn't necessarily mean 'good for me.'

Thing is...

Superman saw Darkseid as nothing more than Dan Turpin's killer. His rage overwhelmed him.

In Twilight, Superman was going to stay on the exploding asteroid base JUST to kill Darkseid.

In Destroyer, Darkseid was winning via pure fisticuffs until Superman punched him through three buildings. After that, Darkseid had to resort to the Agony Matrix. Otherwise, he would've ended up as roadkill.

the point is that the agony matrix was a giant superweapon pulled out of nowhere so they could have lex save the day

it is very much an interruption of the narrative and highly anticlimactic

Now, I've never been in this situation, but couldn't you just slowly drive through them? You're in a vehicle, they're not going to be able to stop you. Just keep inching forward. Unless someone crawled under your car, it doesn't seem likely to hurt anyone.

a rational reading of the law would conclude that is the only reasonable time when it should apply

but unfortunately posts like mal's--which normalize not slowing down at all for road-blocking protests--reflect the possibility that it may be very difficult to prove a driver was trying not to hit the protesters

it changes the nature of vehicular manslaughter trials in a way that makes protesters who make the (unwise) decision to block roads fundamentally unsafe. it may empower people who actively want to hurt these protesters, something no law should ever do.

and while we can all say "I guess they should know better!" policy that is likely to increase the violent death rate should be seen as universally bad.

i don't really think that's true

virtue signaling is definitely a thing that some people do disingenuously to fit in or seem morally upright, and it's usually very obvious because they're much more focused on public call outs than actually helping victimized people

this is mostly a reaction to seeing people behaving badly.

accusing people of being redpillers of reacting negatively to shitty behavior is basically kafkatrapping.

steak, preferably a short loin cut served blue rare with strongly seared exterior (this requires grill temps of ~600-700F)

i used to be a porterhouse guy but i dont get much flavor out of the tenderloin side and you lose too much to the bone. similarly, ribeye has too many chunks of solid fat for me, and it has to be cooked medium rare to have even a chance of liquidating those.

ny strip forever.
