First of all I didn't say "same" character. I said "similar". Secondly Saitama is a direct satire and commentary on superhero characters like Superman, so yes actually there's an obvious comparison to be made. Groot and The Iron Giant play the same role in their respective stories. They're a foil to a smaller, weaker but intelligent and boisterous character. They guardians, protectors, innocent as a child, constantly getting in trouble, heart in the right place, not quite human, feared by outsiders, etc. etc. Do I need to go on?
