if you don't want to get made fun of for being fat, then stop being fat

what if you were born fat?

Nonsense.

esearchers found some babies have similar build up of fat around their abdomen that adults aged in their 50s have.

The study of babies at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, west London, used magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans to investigate links between obesity in children and their mothers.

It reportedly found evidence that being overweight or obese in pregnancy could result in potentially harmful changes to a baby’s fat levels while still in the womb.

The study, led by Prof Neena Modi, one of Britain’s best experts on high-risk health problems in newborns found nearly a third of children had more fat than expected.

Of the 105 babies – 54 boys and 51 girls – a total of 31 babies had more adipose, or fat, tissue around their abdomen than normal.

TFW you realize EFW in utero have about a 40% sensitivity for fetal macrosomia, which is why we don't routinely perform MRIs on pregnant women to estimate how big their babies are

It is meaningless as a method for determining someone's personality. The concept of gender is a social construct and has changed throughout time. It is all made up.

You sure are putting a LOT of unnecessary weight on a perinatal gender reveal party. This will not determine the baby's gender identity, lol. There is about as much harm in it as there is in throwing a gender neutral part for the sake of the <0.5% chance that the baby discovers it is trans.

Some women get very invested in their pregnancies the moment they find out. Yeah, the overwhelming majority of them could get pregnant again but it's still an emotional time for some women when they find out that they miscarry.

So I talked to the attending and he decided that we were going to do another ultrasound and some bloodwork just to have a reference, since the other ultrasounds were taken at an outside facility and they could potentially be wrong for a myriad of reasons. Those ultrasounds that she brought in did not look promising, though; and we're pretty sure it was an embryonal demise but we're playing it safe from a legal perspective.

Thankfully, we didn't have to break any bad news to her, but it was an emotionally intense situation. She kept pleading for us to make sure the baby was alive, and we had to explain to her that we can't really say one way or the other until we follow her for a few days. This woman had tears in her eyes and I started tearing up, but we kept a professional tone throughout the consultation. I was not expecting that today.

I would usually be very much against things like this, but the parent appears to be doing it for the sole benefit of the child. I can only support such a decision.

While the parent has her child's best interest in mind, a decision like this is very poorly thought out and is entrenched in her own implicit biases. Most medical decisions (including mental health) come down to a risk vs. benefit analysis, and honestly this doesn't take a genius to understand that the benefit of being reared genderless in the rare event the child is trans is far, far outweighed by the risk of ridicule and deep-rooted psychological trauma in the extraordinarily high event that the child is not trans.

That's....wrong.

Maybe for a public school. Tuition is still on the 30k-40k end for public. Plus 15-20k cost of living per year.

On the lowest end, 180,000+

Private med schools average 60-70k. On the low end of private is still 300,000+

That's also considering 6.8% interest from day one for four years. Plus residency salary is ~50k no matter

So considering a mix of private and public school students, it's really about a quarter million.

And that obviously doesn't include any debt from undergrad. I have a friend who's doing anesthesia and he'll be about $500k in loan debt by the time he finishes residency and can start paying them off.

This reminds me of that Dave Chapelle skit where a jury member requires a mountain of irrefutable evidence before he would even consider R Kelly guilty.

I don't know why some people aren't getting this dominance argument. You can argue dominance cross sports, gender, even time periods if you want.

"The Chicago Bulls were more dominant than the Patriots are" is a claim that has nothing to do with which of the two would win in a head to head competition in either sport.

It just seems like splitting hairs between dominance and best is entirely pointless because the concept of dominance in which its being used with this tennis example is an entirely useless metric. So Serena was the most dominant tennis player of all time asterisk asterisk asterisk. This is nothing but a feelgood statement that serves just as much purpose as stating she'd get crushed in a men's league.

I had to speak with one at a furniture store because the employee did not put half of my gf's furniture order on. So we get a delivery with a no couch, a mattress and no box spring, head/foot boards for the bed but no rails to connect the 2, no TV stand. The employee immediately knew what was up when we called and apologized but he was not helpful about it, and this was a very time sensitive move. We ended up getting everything resolved at 50% off and free rails, so it turned okay despite being a huge inconvenience.

And there's nothing wrong with wanting to speak to a supervisor if it needs to come to it. The fuck outta here with that condescending garbage.
