Those ultrasounds that she brought in did not look promising, though; and we're pretty sure it was an embryonal demise but we're playing it safe from a legal perspective. Thankfully, we didn't have to break any bad news to her, but it was an emotionally intense situation. She kept pleading for us to make sure the baby was alive, and we had to explain to her that we can't really say one way or the other until we follow her for a few days. This woman had tears in her eyes and I started tearing up, but we kept a professional tone throughout the consultation. I remember I had to do that shot and I had to pretend that everything was ok while they both rubbed on her stomach holding each others hands comforting each other. I thought it was really messed up that everybody in the hospital knows before the actual people know.
