Whenever these stories come out that are just 100% reversals, I always have to wait and see. Especially since they usually seem to be some slight variation of "The DNC is a super-powerful, wildly-incompetent Illuminati, and concocted all of Trump's scandals to make him look bad."

As always, waiting for the final report I guess. Seems interesting though. Maybe we can get rid of both parties, revamp to a voting system that doesn't mandate a two-party system, and just have something nice for once? Not likely, but a man can dream.

Stockholm isn't called the rape capital because it has a rape problem. It's called that because people who haven't been there have a reading problem. Sweden counts rapes differently than other countries, and not just "stare rape" bullcrap (although they do have a broader definition than less left countries) but usually in the cases of mass or ongoing rape.

The "official" example is of a man who rapes his wife daily for a year. Around the world, that might be classified as a single, particularly grievous rape case. In some parts, it's not even classified as a crime... But in Sweden, it's classified as 365 offenses (more in a leap year!). The numbers in reality aren't as disparate as a 365x factor, but you get the gist.

Sweden's rape numbers are just inflated compared to ours, so it's a poor statistic to compare. Which explains why Sweden has over double America's rape rate, and under half our crime rate otherwise. (that said, they have almost exactly the same levels of perceived crime and fear of it, despite the drastically lower rates, so maybe the "pussy" accusation isn't that far off...)

Hey neat, I lived in Lund for a few years, only like a 10 minute train ride from Malmo! I actually went to Malmo several times a week for Uni. It's come a long way as a city since I first visited ~20 years ago. The fact that anybody can say freaking Malmo feels like home sounds like a fantasy after how it was just a few decades ago.

I dunno if Malmo is a great example though. See, Malmo gets an abnormal amount of immigration because of they're basically the first exit off the Oresund Bridge (built 1995ish).

A ton of immigration comes through that bridge, so Malmo has ended up much more mixed than the rest of Sweden. Saying that a suburb of Malmo feels foreign is like saying there's an awful lot of water under this faucet...

Basically though, Malmo rode the wave of immigration and incoming money to go from a shithole to an adorable university town. So Malmo had (has?) excellent reasons to rely on immigration. But then Malmo kept riding it even as the world hit a migration stumbling block. And then they rode a little more. Because nothing is more Swedish than taking a progressive idea a bit too far, except maybe that disgusting salt licorice.

That said, that woman is speaking Swedish. Weird, considering how she's saying it's so Arab. >.>

1. Growing up, were you able to enjoy movies, games, shows ect. Where the main character was someone you could relate to because they were the same gender (probably race too)? Think about how many you found relatable as compared to those you didn't.

Because of the same gender/race? Never. That would be weird.
I remember one of my favorite characters as a child being Kari from Digimon. That one episode where she had a fever but she did her best and didn't tell anyone and worked so hard despite being so burdened... I know a little cliche when you're not 8 any more, but it was heartwarming! Plus it was cool how Gatomon just rocked her champion form all day.

I also quite liked DBZ Gohan, was amused by Brain from Pinky and the Brain, and had a slightly shameful enjoyment of Sailor Jupiter (don't tell my brother I watched that crap show!). So uh... I guess by virtue of what was on I ended up mostly interested in Japanese characters, with it being a tossup between male or female.

All stories are about humans. All of them. Even the ones about lizards or elves or whatever are really about humans. If someone can't relate to a fellow human because of sex/race (even species!), then they're the oddball.

Now there are calls for diversifcation to add to the appeal to other audiences to bring games in line with movies, books, tv series.

Which annoys me, because they're sometimes by people who don't even play games, and frequently by people who have never made a game in their life.
So it comes off as "hey what you're doing looks fun, but it'd be better if it were about meeeee" when nongamers demand we represent them.

No problem with devs who do reach out to other cultures or come from unfamiliar cultures. More power to 'em, show us what we're missing by not knowing as much about e.g. Slavic stories as we'd like.

Limitations are good for the game. I loathe just giving players the win out of pity.

For example, once I ruled they couldn't drop entire stone gates on people, they thought it through and instead set up a few premade massive stone gates which they would release with a single Stone Shape spell.

It ended up more tactical and rewarding for them than if I had just given them the power to do what they wanted for free.

(5x2x2 was the correct limit, they were arguing for like a 10x15x2 volume affected)

I hate adjudicating stone shape. Players are terrible at ballparking 3-D volumes for some reason, and since I can easily do 5x2x2 I always have to be the bad guy and say they can't affect all that.
