My personal least favorite part of the episode (and this is probably a book gripe) is how quick the northerners were to abandon Jon.

Something the northerners were always known for was their loyalty in the books, and I loved the whole northern conspiracy in book 5. Now they seem kinda like fickle morons that can't even keep it in their pants when the dude they just got done proclaiming king (who is trying to fight an enemy they all seem to believe in btw) is gone for a couple weeks.

Also Arya is getting mad at Sansa for all the things Jon would've done or wanted.

This is exactly why I asked him to explain what he thought the core principals were behind BLM and Neo Nazis.

He was mad at Kenri for making a sweeping statement, but then made one very inflammatory one of his own. If you want to argue there are elements in BLM that are radical or that the rhetoric can inflame passions in those already prone to violence, fine, we can have that discussion. But to just say "BLM KILLS COPS" is absurd, because as Menu himself conceded, that was not what the core message of BLM is supposed to be about.

Yeah when we saw the group of all the best characters go beyond the wall it was like "oh so they're going to start killing good characters now, how rude". Hound>Tormund>>Jon>>>>>Jorah>Finally Finished Rowing Gendry>Beric>Thoros.

Jon isn't dying, Hound isn't dying, Jorah most likely isn't dying. Probably not Gendry either since they just brought him back. Any of the others are pretty much fair game though.

I was going to actually point out, I had seen the exact same memes (or others similar) on r/the_donald going all the way back to the highway closures in Minnesota, possibly earlier. And now someone actually goes and does it. Reddit lets this community fester, and I know they don't want to shut down a subreddit that is perhaps the biggest Trump support group on the internet. I get that. I get the sort of political backlash they'd get.

But anyone who has looked around there knows they go far beyond what your "middle of the road" Trump supporter is. They advocate violence against their political opponents, silence dissent, and have openly advocated violently marching on Washington/CNN/anywhere you can find liberals if Trump gets impeached or if "THE SWAMP" gets to him somehow. They believe every insane fringe conspiracy theory you can think of, most likely because it helps build up genuine hatred for the left wing.

If you close it, they obviously just all go somewhere else so it doesn't solve the problem. I just don't know what to do about them at this point.

ideally, you distance yourselves from them because they ain't what you want to be represented - this happened at the DNC protests, for example. that was good. but this doesn't always happen so don't be as quick on the take there. if this is your viewpoint of what you're seeing then you can't really complain when people say BLM is a terrorist group either.

I'm not sure how you look at a march, see that the KKK and Neo Nazis are there, and decide that that's a place to go be.

trump's speech reminds me of W reading books to children during 9/11

Bush, for all his failings, gave many good speeches around the time of 9/11 that emphasized how important unity was and urged us not to attack American Muslims.

That speech today was abysmal, disheartening, and even someone like Bush would've done 1000x better. Of course he didn't empower white nationalists either so he likely wouldn't have had to make a speech like that in the first place.

Not my favorite choice of words for the point I think he's making (that Donald's getting caught), but this is pretty confident talk for an ongoing case.

It's a shame because Jones actually looks pretty solid (especially given how hopeless that race is for a Dem).

I mean it is true. Moore is the best candidate the dems could hope to face and Jones is actually a really solid candidate (unlike what the dems had in Montana or Georgia). But Alabama is so far red neither of those things matter in the slightest!

There are like eight things I hate about this article but I'm on my phone and copy pasting is too hard.

Some of them off the top of my head:
1) absolutely no reason to bring up the age difference
2) says something like "oh he thought he was too smart and the people he was addressing were too dumb". There's no source for that, because of course there's not - no politician would ever say anything resembling that
3) "no apple for teacher" what egregiously bad writing holy shit
4) "look how terrible he is polling!" He is two points behind trump using their own metric, a dude this same network goes through great lengths to build up
5) they don't explain what it would mean to be First Lady of France i.e. what duties that would entail and what salary she'd draw (if any). The First Lady here is largely ceremonial but can take on certain pet projects and no one complains, so I don't know what the difference would be in France.

I guess it doesn't surprise me he is disliked - he is a novice politican (like Trump) that didn't come in with major political allies and only won because both of the major parties imploded in France due to corruption scandals (which his cabinet seems to be keeping in the tradition of!). Horribly written article though, jeez.

If Trump was removed from any authority, and the decision making was in the hands of Mattis/Kelly/McMaster I would feel infinitely better.
