I should finish this case up over the weekend and post on Monday. Not to sound like a broken record, but it is obviously Pierce and the why has to do with Serena's death. The how is not exactly known, but it isn't really important as there isn't too much wiggle room on that. All that I am really intrigued about is why Dumas got caught up in all this.

This plan by Pierce was all contingent on Dumas responding to whatever threat was issued toward him, and if it isn't something that the Sprocket family all knew about in him being at fault for the accident, what could it be?

A key to activate the time keeper, whatever that entails, was found near where the bride and groom sit at the reception, It is eerie that Phoenix used the word entail immediately after I thought of it. The maid said that it was to be used for their version of the cake-cutting ceremony. They also mentioned love ceremonies, startups of love, and symbols of love that I have no idea what they are talking about.

Sorin is freaking out, probably looking for the notebook that Pierce either has or has destroyed. What kind of logic is not being allowed to talk to someone for fear of their wounds reopening? I'm not asking him to physically exert himself, and if they didn't reopen from him frantically moving around, I'd say that finally taking him to a hospital after his latest episode puts him in the clear.

You know, I wonder how much time was between the first and second reception if Sorin was fucking stabbed and lost enough blood to warrant serious medical attention, which I have to assume came from Pierce.

Athena has been absent essentially the entire time. Even if Phoenix mentioned stuff about the case, she's not intimately familiar with it and thus can't reasonably say that Sorin "always seemed suspicious."

Back to lawyering!

Pierce confirmed that Dumas was at fault for Serena's death, and that Sorin asked for Dumas to stay on. Perhaps Sorin was conspiring to murder Dumas after all, but there's an even bigger question. What leverage did Pierce have on Dumas? I haven't budged on being 99.9% sure that Pierce is the murderer, but if everyone knew that Dumas was at fault for the accident, what could force Dumas to a plan that would have him commit murder?

Serena's fiance was a surgeon, which I guess means Pierce was a surgeon in his mid-20s, possibly earlier. However, the game wishes to hold that info from the player and try to surprise them later. They've had Pierce take out his pocket watch 79 times too many for that to be a realistic possibility.

Pierce knows about the candelabra and a pysch-lock appears. Dumas brazenly went to Ellen after the first reception in Sorin's presence, so that clears up the reason for the violent altercation in the hold.

The wheel handle from the bull lantern that Dumas was found in had blood on it when we were first investigating the reception you dolt! I filled up my old writeup book and do not have it with me, but I'm pretty sure that the white was the inside wheel handle, so Ema erred in reconstructing it.

I like how everyone in the foyer is back to acting like nothing happened.

Sorin's notebook mentions Match 8th, which I can only assume is the day of the car accident. How inconvenient, it fell in a pool of blood that the maid only 10 feet away should have cleaned up already. Dumas was driving the car? I now have a theory:

- Dumas drove the car and was at fault for the accident
- Pierce somehow knew that and blackmailed him to kill Ellen
- Sorin must have had an altercation with Dumas in the hold that turned bloody
- Dumas proceeded to follow instructions
- Pierce then killed Dumas, must have knocked out Ellen or something, completing his revenge for Serena and have someone take the fall for him.

"...normal, peasant phones" - Phoenix annoyed with the object on Pierce's shoulder
- And just what is a peasant phone?

Uh, I wasn't done investigating the hold, but I was forced to go onto the deck. It didn't last long, but since I was there, I wanted to investigate!

I totally forgot about Maya breaking the Sprocket radio in two seconds, so good call by Phoenix to keep her on a short leash and forbid her from going near the fancy dishes.

A broken candelabra pin might have something to do with Dumas' bloody hand. Since we are doing a luminol test, I would be shocked if that wasn't the case. Ema saved me the trouble of having to do that myself. I was hoping that I could show the photo of Dumas' bloody hand to Ema as a possible source even though it isn't humanely possible for that to come from a single hand. Well this was unexpected, it isn't even Dumas' blood. Did they ever check to see if the blood on his hand matched his own blood? Ema needs to step up her game.

What was the point in going up to the vista deck at all if there was absolutely nothing to do there?

Well Sorin had an odd reaction to the candelabra, and he's bleeding. I can put two and two together. This makes me further question what kind of dirt Pierce had on Dumas to carry out the former's plan.

Phoenix and aya forgot that you need a keycard to enter the hold. They will remember soon enough. I actually wanted to visit the Vista Deck first since that sounded like an option, but the game is forcing me to go into the hold. I guess we won't be needing a keycard.

The hold also acts as a lift and can take you to the Vista Deck. The police didn't find anything of "particular interest."

If almost everybody was involved in the cover-up of Dumas' death, then how super inconvenient was it that Ellen met up with the only three people who weren't at the exact time that Dumas' corpse was found and she was holding the murder weapon?

I thought that the suspended airplane in the hold could have been what Butz saw through his cabin window since the hold has a lift, but the cabin is on the opposite side of the airship, and the cabin's window must be on the south side of the room.

Dumas was left-handed and his prints were on the candelabra. Butz's hold photo from prior to the first reception has the candelabra missing.

There's a huge bloodstain on the lift. There's no way that all came from Dumas' hand, especially since it wasn't mangled.

lol Butz is giving the office 10 copies of his book but still charge them for it. I hope it is at a discount.

It is odd that none of the evidence was discarded even with having 3-4 full pages.

"Why am I being treated to the view of someone's underwear?" - Phoenix on Ellen showing us underwear
- Phoenix and I were on the same page, almost verbatim.

Pierce has been with the Sprockets for less than a year. When did Selena die? If it's before he joined the family, I'm guessing that it was solely because he thought there was more than what meets the eye regarding her death.

How did Ellen not notice holding different sets of flowers? I would think that the bride and groom would be able to pick up on such differences. I'd also imagine that there were several other differences that the player wasn't privy to.

Sorin obviously wishes to go back in time to change the car accident. Why are we even wondering what it could possibly be?

2012 Draft (S8)
1st (3rd) - CB Joe Haden
1st (10th) - DT Ndamukong Suh
1st (19th) - CB Kareem Jackson
2nd (33rd) - G Kelechie Osmele
3rd (67th) - HB Ryan Matthews
4th (97th) - G Damien Bell
4th (112th) - SS Isa Abdul-Quddus

Obviously there is nothing to say about any of their production, but that doesn't mean that there isn't anything to say at all!

- I wasn't sure what prof was going to do at #1 prior to receiving a PM the day of or before the draft. I already knew that I was going to take for Kora either MLB Wagner or WR Brown, but if prof took Haden, then things would get complicated for me. Having already filled my depth with youth the previous drafts, I had a rigid draft strategy targeting specific positions. I would have likely taken Suh at #3 had Haden been unavailable to me.

- Had Suh gone before in the Haden #1 scenario, I likely would have taken FS Reshad Jones, who went just one pick later to the Raiders

- I was torn about who the choose at #19, and I remember specially mentioning in the chat it was between CB Jackson and OT Anthony Costanzo. I already had an 85 backup OT. I went with Jackson for position premium and with the intention to make him my slot CB before Jake Tyree must have had a monster preseason and carried it into the regular season. Thanks mudders for not signing your former 4th round pick!

- I was choosing between G Osmele and Ronald Leary for the 2nd rounder, and I went with Osmele less because of my vision for Gs (which he was the more ideal choice) and more for his name.

- Knowing that I picked high-priced options in 2 CBs and 1 DT in the first, I knew that my dream of reuniting free agent HB Jamal Lewis back to the team he played the first three B8NFLL seasons for was likely dead. I had a hole at HB and decided that now was a good time to grab Matthews.

- I had two holes at G and was eyeing Bell and Jonathan Fletcher to fill the last one. I ended up drafting Fletcher for the Cowboys one pick before Bell, and took Bell for myself. Wiz then elected not to sign Fletcher, and I signed him and converted him to OT (hopefully just for this season)

- I had already acquired a backup SS in a trade with the Wildcats, but then I saw that former real-life Dolphin Isa Abdul-Quddus was available. I ended up giving up the remaining picks I owned to the Bills to grab him. I wonder if I subconsciously wanted him to not have to spell out his name in stat PMs.

2011 Draft (S7)
1st (29th) - SS Antoine Bethea
2nd (61st) - MLB Brian Cushing
3rd (93rd) - WR Miles Austin
4th (110th) - DE Kroy Biermann
4th (120th) - FS Rob Jackson
4th (121st) - G Andy Levitre
4th (125th) - TE Owen Daniels
6th (169th) - OLB P.J. Hines

- I was going to take Eric Berry or Bethea. Berry was taken three picks before me, making my decision easy. He became a starter this season, and I think that he's one of the nine people tied for second place with 2 FRs.

- I have long sounded like a broken record, but he produced backup MLB numbers. It is unusual for me to have more than one rookie starter in any draft class, and this particular draft produced 0. This might be my current starting MLB's last season, so I might have something interesting to say about him at the conclusion of next season.

- I didn't want to spend a 3rd rounder on someone who may never become even a slot receiver for me. Had I known that Sultan would not sign either of the two draft picks I made for him (49ers CB Peter Whitworth and Jets OLB Jeff Hicks) that Austin was sandwiched between, I probably would have taken one of them instead.

- I have never had a DE lose a game to injury during B8NFLL. I still like having depth, and Biermann has done well for a backup. No complaints in his 23 games as a Dolphin (I guess technically 31 but I don't look at preseason stuff).

- After FS Corey Campbell wouldn't re-sign with me since he wanted a starting gig, I needed a new backup FS. Berry was unavailable in the 1st, and I ended up screwing myself over by drafting FSs for other teams in future rounds, it was now that I had a backup FS near the top of the top prospects. However, backup FSs don't do much on the stat sheet. I do hope I can get another season or two out of Ed Reed.

- With the pick I gained from the Browns in the Nick Mangold trade, I selected a G that I convered into a C. My starting C McClure hasn't missed a game since Levitre was drafted, so there's nothing to say about him.

- I had too many draft picks and no idea what to do with them. Had one-time real-life Dolphin Charles Clay been available at any of my picks in this round, I probably would have taken him. I still grabbed Owen Daniels who ended up being the highest-rated rookie TE. Of course, that's wasted being a backup to someone who never misses a game. Why do I have four TEs?

- Hines is a backup OLB, and not even the top backup at either spot. He still got some snaps and did stuff with them. It was enough for me to bring him back on another 1 year deal.

2010 Draft (S6)
1st (24th) - DE Calais Campbell
1st (26th) - OLB DeAndre Levy
5th (154th) - WR Darrius Heyward-Bey
6th (184th) - DT Joe Upshaw
6th (186th) - G Jamaal Reed
7th (218th) - TE Jonathan Hannah

- Campbell is an all-around beast. He's had back-to-back 8 sack campaigns, has above-average FF/FR figures, is an excellent run-defender, and he is only one of maybe three people from the first round to make the Pro Bowl.

- In retrospect, I don't really remember why I made the trade with Sultan to acquire an additional first rounder. If I had to guess, it was the shed my draft pick capital since I routinely run into roster space issues. The pick to select Levy was actually my own original pick, and looking back, I'm glad that I did make the trade because I would have likely have taken DE Doug Worthington here (he was selected 25th overall, so maybe Campbell would have been selected by the Falcons instead). If Levy amounts to nothing since backup OLBs do just that in my system, I will be okay since Campbell turned out to be fantastic so far.

- I drafted Heyward-Bay to be my returner. He sucked. I didn't retain him, and he's out of the league.

- I'm pretty sure that I only took Upshaw since he was the best player available. He's increased his rating by like 10. I might have prematurely signed him to a 6 year deal since I had no idea that I would wind up drafting Suh, but I'm sure that things will work out since he's been great.

- Reed did nothing. I believe that he survived the purge and is one of the lowest-rated Gs available on the free agent market.

- Hannah is a backup TE. I have no opinion or anything interesting to share.

2009 Draft (S5)
1st (31st) - WR Kenny O'Neal
2nd (42nd) - G Seth Olson
2nd (63rd) - HB Mikell Simpson
3rd (95th) - DT Matt Kroul
4th (102nd) - DE Barry Turner
7th (223rd) - TE Chris Brown

- I didn't want O'Neal. I wanted DTs William Morrisey (Vikings at 24th), DT Marlon Favorite (Steelers at 28th), DT Charles Alexander (Jets at 29th), and G Garrett Collins (Bucs at 30th). With this being the first year of the live draft I think, I couldn't find a suitable trade partner, so I kept the pick and took the WR. He's been the best slot WR that I've ever had, so I guess it could have been much worse.

- I have made every Bucs pick in every draft. Thus I was the one to rob myself of Collins. It all worked out as I made Olson the 2nd G selected in the draft. Due to my RG Simmons losing a few games every season, Olson got plenty of playing time. He eventually made his way to 91 just as he hit RFA. The Pumpkins offered him a huge deal that I simply couldn't match. The picks I received were eventually traded around into selections that I think became DT Suh and Gs Osmele and Bell in just this past draft.

- Simpson is someone that I hope that I can retain for many years but probably won't since he's an 83 and might be looking for a starting job that he will likely never have. He's a do-it-all back though. He made me forget about how useless Hart ended up being.

- Because I missed out on three DTs that I wanted in the first round, I waited until the 3rd to get a DT. Kroul, like Olson, earned significant playing time due to injuries. He made 8 starts last season, produced numbers that would look fantastic for a 16 game starter. Unfortunately, RFA struck again. He was my top-rated DT, and I really, really did not want to lose him, but the Seahawks offered him a deal in excess of $7 mil per season. I also would receive the third overall pick and a 3rd rounder if I let him go. It sucked, but he's now a Seahawk. Those picks turned into CB Joe Haden and HB Ryan Matthews.

- I was afraid that Turner would become the third player I would lose to RFA this past offseason. Luckily, nobody offered him anything, so I got to keep my dependable backup DE. He has recorded at least 1 sack and 1 FF/FR in each season.

- Backup TEs mainly just block and backup at FB if a team doesn't have 2 of them. I don't recall how good of a blocker Brown is, but I don't care since I have zero expectations for backup TEs. He's also now buried on my depth chart.

- Unlike real life, TEs in B8NFLL do not have WR production. That being said, Miller has never been a nominee for TE of the Year, and I handpick those candidates. Still, he has good blocking skills, has started every game since Week 1 of his rookie year, and he's reached max rating, so I don't have much to complain about.

- Schwartz was basically Colledge except slightly better production. He is currently a free agent.

- Even as a backup HB, Hart was a bust. He wasn't very efficient. He was not retained after four seasons and is currently a free agent.

- Tevaga barely produced or played in his three seasons as a Dolphin. He is arguably the most shocking RFA signing as the Broncos saw something in him. The Dolphins took the draft pick, and the Broncos eventually signed or drafted a bunch more Gs to bury Tevaga on the depth chart.

- Aguayo used to be money and was once named Kicker of the Year (either Madden or both Madden/Users). He was a Bottom 5 kicker last year in terms of FG% and is in the middle of the pack this season. He's struggled with XPAs for whatever reason, having missed at least one in each season (not yet the case this season).

2007 Draft (S3)
1st (22nd) - CB Antonio Cromartie
1st (26th) - QB Sam Keller
3rd (90th) - WR Andre Caldwell
6th (186th) - OLB Steve Octavien
7th (218th) - G Paul Soliai

- Cromartie was one of the best slot corners in the league, earning one Pro Bowl despite never starting. He is now atop the depth chart due to injuries

- Keller sat behind Trent Dilfer (jerk) and Kerry Collins (love you man) before earning the starting job for good in S5. He made the first two Pro Bowls before an injury wiped out most of S7 (he still finished fourth in the AFC Pro Bowl voting at QB). He is off to a good start this season.

- Caldwell was a good slot WR in his three years as a Dolphin. He was not retained after the Texans offered him a contract during RFA.

- Backup OLBs never do anything in Miami. Octavien barely played in his lone season in Miami. He later was converted into a DE, signed with the Jets, and had a double digit sack season with them last year.

- Soliai didn't get much playing time as a backup G, but his rating went up enough to where the Bears ended up signing him in free agency between the Yoshi and cheyene years. He's still a backup there

I was once in charge of the Cardinals in lieu of VengefulKBM. I signed them G Tyler McMeans as a 70 UDFA. He started Week 1 due to injuries and became a 90-something G. That's the biggest leap from a non-K/P that I can recall from someone who entered the league after the inaugural season.

Dolphins Draft History

2006 Draft (Season 2)
1st Round (31st overall) - G Max Jean-Gilles
3rd (76th) - DE Matthew Rice
3rd (95thl) - SS Michael Huff
4th (99th) - P Tom Malone
4th (110th) - OT Daryn Colledge
6th (191st) - DT Manase Hopoi
7th (210th) - WR Jason Avant
7th (223rd) - C Nick Mangold

- Max has started every game since he was drafted and has reached maximum overall rating

- Rice sat behind two DEs who never missed a start and provided prototypical backup DE numbers in his four years as a Dolphin. He is one of the longest-tenured members of the free agent sheet.

- Huff, like Rice, sat behind someone who never missed a start, but backup SSs receive more snaps (probably due to special teams) and production than backup DEs. Thus, his rating gradually increased before he was traded to the Pumpkins for HB Jacquizz Rodgers in S7.

- Malone has been one of the best punters in the league since he joined and is the top-rated player at his position.

- Colledge was decent as a backup OT and like Rice was not retained after his four years with the club. He is currently a free agent

- Hopoi was strictly a pass-rusher as he had more sacks than tackles + FFs + FRs in his three or four seasons as a Dolphin. He later signed with the Broncos as a free agent, and has remained a #3 DT there.

- Avant was a decent #4 WR. He was not retained by the Dolphins after a few seasons with the club and fell victim to the annual Madden Free Agent Purge.

- Mangold, the second-to-last pick in the draft, was thrust into the starting lineup several times during his Dolphin career due to injuries. Unfortunately, the rise in rating made him crave a starting job. He was traded to the Browns in S6 along with a 5th rounder in exchange for G Andy Christensen and a 4th rounder. That eventually resulted in future transactions that resulted in an extra 1st rounder. Not bad for #223.

Question

If I have someone on a rookie contract who I know will hit RFA in the offseason. Can I renew his contract now to avoid that happening?

Yes

I didn't even have to cross-compare the photos to know that the difference had to be the color of the flowers Ellen was holding. They were so bright that I'd imagine the vast majority of players came to the same conclusion. I'm actually wondering, given the elevation and angle of the photo if Butz's card holder also acts as a camera. Otherwise, I have no idea how he snapped a picture if he wasn't in the room at the time.

Uhhhhh, the Sprockets held the reception twice to cover for Ellen? Yeah, that reasoning isn't going to fool anyone, well the players anyway.

If the real murder scene was the vista deck, then there's no way the prosecution has evidence to get Ellen convicted. The trial has been suspended for further investigation.

Pierce entered the hold between Dumas and Ellen. He was entertaining people or something, but he has to be the killer unless a new character is introduced.

Since Phoenix wants to establish that someone other than Ellen used her keycard, I'm guessing that he's going to throw Butz to the wolves. Butz did not take that well. LMAO his testimony is titled "Nick is a Jerk Face!" It was also empty, but that's okay with a title like that.

Ahh, so the note that we see Ellen writing in Butz's photo must have been this one talking about exchanging statues. I'm surprised that Edgeworth didn't use this opportunity to accuse Ellen of forging that note found near Dumas.

I think that the image of Butz getting nabbed by securityy was what I saw from the opening animation when I said I swore that I saw Butz.

Butz said that he moved statues twice, and the reason for that was because of time travel. He didn't know about time travel until much later, so that actually doesn't explain why he moved the statues twice.

Edgeworth looks so old without his glasses, but he's listed at being just 35. Japan is infatuated with making people much younger than their appearances suggest.

Dumas was hit and "fell into the lantern?" That just creates half a dozen new questions. Dumas was also struck twice. I'm glad this info wasn't just sprung on me now.

I guess we now know why they had Dumas in such an odd position in the toppled lantern.
- To "embarrass" Ema and refute the claim of the second attack coming from Ellen

Ouch, Phoenix passive-aggressively told Edgeworth that he is alone and unloved. I didn't know he had it in him.

After Ema's testimony, I was wondering if now was the time that we bring up time travel until I realized that the fog machine used ice, so we are instead establishing the ETD being off. I wonder the percentage of cases where a death had their ETD be off.

The problem with Ga'ran in the last trial was that the repeated threats of her being capable of doing whatever she wanted were wholly unnecessary (threat of the DCA was all that was needed) and severely diminished the sense of accomplishment at the end. While it was likely the case all along, Khura'in was officially established to the player as being an absolute monarchy with Ga'ran constantly saying that she can end the trial whenever she wanted and rewrote laws when she felt like it. Thus, she had every opportunity to get away with murder, but she didn't because...why didn't she get away with murder? The writers overplayed their hand.

For offense, it was Bucs WR David Givens, but Bell had twice as many yards as Givens, scored as many TDs, and set an NFL record, so Bell is really the only choice.

For defense, it was Pats OLB Jason Babin for reasons I can't even understand.
