I really enjoyed the first episode of American Gods last night. Really good stuff f and future appointment television.

I haven't read the Gaiman novel in years, but there are a lot of familiar beats and fantastic themes.

Plus o got to see a lady swallow a guy whole with her lady parts. Not a bad hour of television.

yeah between Lucifer and American Gods, it gives me hope that we may someday see a live-action Sandman project of some kind. i know Gaiman has been shopping one around, but its been in development hell since the 90's. its strange to me that at this point he's more or less gotten everything he's written that wasn't a short story made into a show or a movie except Sandman. not sure if its a DC rights issue or the sheer difficulty budget-wise of doing a live action Sandman. i mean Lucifer as-written is nearly unfilmable on a network budget, so i can see why its been changed so heavily for the show but i'm pretty surprised at how close to the source material American Gods has been so far.

Wish it wasn't, but Supergirl is muey bad.

S1 wasn't awful, but S2 having moved to CW needs its mandatory 15 minutes of lesbian drama shoehorned into every episode and it really takes away from the story when its so awkward and forced.

That is literally the reason I stopped watching cable:

MTV went from a music video station to a reality TV station
Discovery went from a scientific station to a reality TV station
History went from a history station to a reality TV station
MTV 2 went from a music video station to a reality TV station
Nick at Night started showing reruns from the 90's
Even the network channels have turned into crappy sitcom factories.

not just that, but "reality TV" shows cost jack shit to make compared to just about anything else. all you need are a handful of nobody attention whores or washed up celebs that are a rent check away from knife fighting hobos in a backalley to make rent and a catty producer instigating shit off-camera. the rest is just a camera crew and an equally catty editor and there's your entire season of Vapid House Whores of Topeka in 6 weeks work.

i have done everything i can via ratings and thumbs down to sandbag Sandler's drek on the Netflix algo and it still floats to the top like a turd in my recommendations.

Netflix has them skewed in an ungodly way.

TNG i think was the better show once Riker grew the beard, but Sisko is my favorite captain.

That's actually pretty smart. Someone did all the work for them, why reinvent the wheel when they can profit from someone pirating their stuff with no overhead. This way at least some good, from their perspective, comes from pirated games.

Advertising money to pay for their servers to keep it going. At the least.

Hate to break it to you Zangulus, but unless they are owning and operating their own racks, the ads are just pushed by whichever ad networks their host is contracted with. That is easily upwards of 90% of all of them.

many of the NES accessories were pretty bad...the power glove, superscope, and things like ROB the robot and the Power pad that were only ever used for 2 games a piece, and the game that wasn't bundled with those add ons were all but impossible to find.

Explain

in Nocturne, based on certain dialog choices, the ending will change. this is up to and including which final boss you face. if you manage to walk a knife's edge for the entire course of the game that prevents a number of areas from being closed off so you can't kill all the Fiends and collect all the Magatamas, you can get the True Demon Ending where you fight one of the regular endgame bosses, then there's a major reveal and you get to fight what was at that point the hardest boss fight in the entire SMT Franchise.

a lot of times optional superbosses ruin the immersion for me. why would the canon final boss be the thing to worry about when there's something way more powerful out there?

on a related note when the prerequisite for the ultimate weapon in a game involves killing optional super powered bosses, what then is the point of having that ultimate weapon? there's nothing left worth killing with it.

at least SMT:N got optional bosses/super bosses right. its about the only game off the top of my head that has gotten the idea right.

it was actually a mixup involving someone there with the same name as me. house party for a double birthday, one of them being mine. maybe 50-60 people at the house in various states of intoxication on a variety of things. a roomate's friend knew my name but had never actually met me, i was down in the basement holding court with a bunch of my people. the "fake me" got a little too handsy with one of their other friend's girlfriends. a bunch of people that didn't have half a clue what was going on got involved. all hell breaks loose for a good 15 minutes between my people and the roomie's people. the girl that got groped came back in from the patio and pointed out that i wasn't the one they should be making threats at, it was the guy smoking a cigarette over by the grill...yada yada now half of my people and the roomie's people are both headed outside to curbstomp "fake me"...yada yada "fake me" decided it was in his best interests to leave after he got kicked in the face trying to bow up on the first guy down the stairs when a dozen people came erupting out the door...a good time had by most after everyone calmed the fuck back down and got back to partying.
