Fighters are good attack sponges. Any attack against a fighter is basically wasted for that round unless you are fighting something well outside of your abilities (Or you get magic attacked).

perhaps, but "fighter" is more or less a misnomer for most of the early FF titles. "Tank" would be far more accurate. they can take a hit, but their damage output is pretty dismal when weighed against the multi hits of the monk or thief. with the monk, thief, and black mage in the party once black gets access to haste, nothing--not even bosses are going to live long enough to make the damage you're taking much of a concern. the white mage is going to spend 90% of their time either twiddling their thumbs or using the hammer to cast lightning and is there more as an insurance policy to extend your time in dungeons. with a fighter, you're always going to be handicapped by the time you have to spend grinding gold for his best equips. all he is is a meatshield, and an incredibly expensive one at that. why stand there and take damage at all when you can mill everything in your path to dust in the first round to begin with?

Screw the fighter, his gear is too expensive to bother grinding for. Monk goes naked until you get a ribbon, the thief can be pretty much equipped with found gear, and then the mages just get the spells as needed.

At least in terms of efficiency that's the way I go.

I would argue that it's not, because it has a practical combat purpose. Keep in mind that shields *are* still used today, although a riot shield is less able to stop a bullet. If you could easily carry a shield which could stop a bullet, you'd be much better off than somebody who doesn't have one when running for cover since it'd reduce your likelihood of being host. And, in fact, if shields like those existed irl and could be affordably mass produced, we'd probably see cops equipped with them.

but realistically, how many bullets is Cap dealing with at this point while dealing with superhumans? how many super powered individuals actually use firearms?

i just want to point out that this is the second reboot of spiderman in the last 5 years.

If I'm not mistaken if Sony and Fox don't at least crank out a stinker with the Marvel properties they have rights to once every 5 years the rights revert back to Marvel Studio's ownership automatically.

Frankly, I wish all the properties would go back to Marvel so you don't have preposterous situations like a full scale alien invasion in progress over midtown Manhattan with only the Avengers there to respond despite at least 2/3 of the rest of the Marvelverse being within spitting distance yet conspicuously absent.

Now, I hear a lot of arguments that say "Well, in those cases I just manually ignore it." And that's all fine and dandy, but I also see the other side that uses the ignore system. It's two different ways to achieve the same effect, and again I'll go back and say that I don't understand why people who don't use the ignore system occasionally insult the people who do. If you're not abusing the ignore system (I won't name names, but some people put a lot of users on ignore for very weak reasons.), then who cares?

but there were already mechanisms in place to deal with the most egregious posters and content i.e.,the entire moderation system. this ignore feature really is some special snowflake nonsense.

I honestly never understood why people seem to enjoy giving crap to people who use an ignore list. Who cares? I don't see anything wrong with it as long as they don't abuse it! But that's supremely rare.

Maybe some of us don't consider the go-to option in the face of adversity to be hiding, but that's just my two cents.

as i continue playing Suikoden i'm still really digging the game...but i'm really starting to develop a pet peeve with this game.

the number of people that join my actual party just before a scripted fight and automatically get put in the back row whilst being completely incapable of attacking from the back row is totally unacceptable.

not that its hindering my progress in any real way shape or form, but ffs.
