Hilarious as the headlines of "Trump declares moral bankruptcy" to announce his resignation before he can be impeached (declaring bankruptcy is basically quitting, Trump's quit plenty of times in the past), I really don't want him to.
Because Ryan is worse and Pence is MUCH WORSE.

I'm as far left as it gets and Trump is awful, but it would be waaaaay worse with Pence, Ryan or McConnell as President. The good news is Trump is so incompetent that everyone is busy cleaning up his messes and not advancing awful Republican agendas.

If Trump gets impeached, then I hope the three stooges go down with him for being either linked or complicit in the ongoing scandal.

I'm moderate, and totally agree.
Pence scares the shit out of me, he's everything Trump is on financial and environmental policy (actually more so) with the added bit of being a christian jihadist, hellbent on turning our country into a theocracy.
Plus he gets along better w/ Republicans, so he'd actually get their agenda accomplished.

McConnell is probably the scummiest politician in the country but thankfully has several people ahead of him in line.

Paul Ryan wants an Ayn Randian economic hellscape, but so do Trump, Pence, and McConnell so nothing worse on that front, and he's at least not a religious extremist. Best of the bad options to succeed an impeached Trump.

Democrats need to be very careful here. DO NOT rush this investigation. Demand it to be as thorough as possible to ensure the process is carried out fairly (staunch Trump voters' anger that "they couldn't beat him in the vote (even though they did) so they're using dirty tricks" cause you know it's coming). This also means keeping dysfunctional Trump in office longer instead of Republican best-buds Pence or Ryan. Ideally, the proceedings carry on long enough for Dems to have a chance to re-take the House in 2018. At a minimum, they need to try and make sure Pence is tied into the scandal, so he is impeached, too and we get lesser-evil Ryan (ideally it goes into 2019 and a Dem speaker comes in line for the office). Which itself will take time.

Yes. I got my wife a bunch of Sims 2 expansion packs as a holiday gift through Ebay, which I had never used before...and will never use again.
Live in an apartment w/ "cluster" mail boxes where you're assigned a box and given a key, they aren't hard-coded for Apt. 205, for example. For packages, there are larger boxes w/ keys and they'll put the key in your mail box if there's a package for you to retrieve from the larger boxes.
I'll never know for sure cause I got stone walled every step of the way till I gave up trying to investigate, but I'm pretty sure what happened was the postal worker put the key in someone else's mailbox by mistake, and whatever thief got it decided to keep it or re-sell it, b/c I never got the games. $60 down the drain and the realization I live amongst dishonest scumbag thieves. This happened like TWO YEARS ago, it wasn't like this was when Sims 2 was brand new and highly popular.

You don't drink so you don't understand the culture or the effects of alcohol.

Alcohol does make you make decisions you would not normally make. Alcohol can turn you into somebody you're not especially when you are new to it. Alcohol also makes it very difficult to tell when you are drinking excessively. It's not just "sensationalist news". It's reality.

Unless someone spikes your beverage or similar, drinking alcohol is a choice. I understand that one loses significant cognitive function when they're drunk. That's why one has to be responsible for being careful how much one drinks and erring on the side of caution BEFORE reaching that stage.
You make it sound like a drunk driver should be forgiven because "he had no way of thinking rationally at that point."

They've actually never modded Ducky for calling anybody a Nazi, including 17 year-old girls whose only "crime" was being Republican. He gets a free pass on all that shit, just as he will in this topic. Personally, I got warned for calling somebody who supported book burnings and the suppression a free speech one which, you know, are two of the biggest tropes.

While the nazis did both of those things (among many other atrocities like torture and enslavement), so did all sorts of other tyrants and autocrats long before the nazis. Like, this ancient Chinese emperor: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burning_of_books_and_burying_of_scholars

I reserve the term nazi for people who engage(d) in, attempt(ed) to engage in, or condone(d) (including by denial even in the face of unassailable evidence that it occurred) genocide. In my entire time on GameFAQ forums, I've only used it three times. Once at a poster who said Germany lost its way after World War II ended and twice at Marine Le Pen, a holocaust denier. All three occasions were modded, and in the case of the poster (who went on to say I was part of the JIDF, an acronym I had to google, and later complained about Jews trying to twist history...all in the same topic) was never modded at all.
I try not to over-use it when it's a stretch because then it dilutes the meaning of it. That said, while I disagree with you on labeling those people nazis, I wouldn't fucking report you to the mods for it. And I'm glad Duckbear hasn't gotten in trouble for it, either. No one should. If you accuse everyone of being a nazi, no one will take your accusations seriously anyway so it's a non-existent problem.

That's not really a terrible act in itself, he was just the general of a losing war. It's not like he got a statue for rounding up Native Americans or the Japanese into camps. He's a very important historical figure who isn't directly tied to genocide, etc. If it was just a matter of he supported a government which favored slavery, then you'd have to remove all of Washington's statues as well.

It's not legal nitpicking. It's legal definition.

"Sexual battery is generally defined as the non-consensual touching of another with intent to arouse or gratify the sexual desire of the offender. Many states will consider any sexual conduct, such as groping, touching genitals over or under clothing, etc., to be sexual battery."

"Rape is unlawful sexual intercourse or any other sexual penetration of the vagina, anus, or mouth of another person, with or without force, by a sex organ, other body part, or foreign object, without the consent of the victim." Or statutory rape.

One involves penetration. One does not.

Penetration is not required for it to be rape. Get out of the 19th century.

If a woman knocks a guy out w/ drugs and date rapes him w/ vaginal intercourse, that is rape.
If she restrains him against his will and forces sex on him, that is rape.
If she holds a knife to his throat and forces him to have sex with her, that is rape.

I have no problem with the concept of super delegates. A fail-safe at the convention to prevent someone from getting the nomination who would be a really bad idea -- like if it turned out Hillary had broken the law, or John Edwards had taken an insurmountable lead before his whole cheating on his cancer-stricken wife thing was discovered -- that's a good thing. Awesome.

But that is NOT how it's used. It's used as a cudgel to beat back candidates the DNC doesn't favor before they can garner any momentum. News reporters will say, "It's only 4 primaries into the season and Bernie's down to Hillary by 500 delegates*, how can he ever recover?!" and later on, "3/4 of states have already voted and Bernie's only closed the gap to 400 delegates difference! It's pretty much impossible for him to overtake Hillary now!"
* "98% of them are super delegates, but we'll keep that in the fine print"

The core message being, "Why don'tchya just give up and vote for the inevitable choice? Or stay home. Why waste the time voting for a sure loser?"

Super delegates should be barred from publicly favoring any primary candidate until the DNC convention or at least until all primaries are over. If they violate that rule, remove them as a super delegate and replace w/ someone else. They shouldn't be allowed to influence the primaries.

While the Democratic party establishment / "Clinton wing" of the party is as you describe, the "both parties" stuff is not really true and just serves to distract away from and lessen the fact that one party (Republicans) are far more in the pocket of corporations and pro-war than the other. Yes, Dems are too. But not nearly as much as Republicans.

Hillary and the Democratic establishment purposely had fewer debates with Bernie. They purposely had strange superdelgate systems this whole time. Just because democrats don't hate gays (despite the fact that Obama and Hillary were pretty much the last democrats who showed up to that party) now doesn't make them good. They are definitely in bed with wall street. See: how Howard Dean goes from a presidential candidate in 2004 to a corporate lobbyist by 2008/2010. Its while Hillary supported fracking the fuck out of the USA despite the dems being the "environmentally friendly" party.

We can't afford "not as bad" anymore. Not as bad is what lead us to Trump. In 08 it was "we cant afford a hot head McCain, getting Obama in office is the most important election of our time". In 12 it was "we can't afford business executive Romney, this is the most important election of our time". In 16 a hothead business executive wins....

This whole "lesser of two evils" leads to the same path. Eventually we fucked.

I don't like lesser of two evils, but the lesser of two evils is still in fact the lesser of two evils.
Obama was quite active militarily, but Republicans still complained endlessly about how "weak" he was in exerting military force and McCain in particularly literally sang about bombing Iran while campaigning. Obama was far from a pacifist, but I have NO DOUBT he got us into less shit overseas than a Republican would have.

Not ideal, but *still* better than the alternative.

The lesser of two evils won't end until the two party system ends, which in turn won't end until we get rid of our ruinous First Past The Post voting system (vote for one person, most votes wins). Because FPTP inevitably leads to a two party system. If 60% of the country is right-of-center (to varying degrees) and 40% is left-of-center (to varying degrees) and the right-wingers split their votes roughly half and half on two conservative candidates but the liberals all vote for the same guy...40% of the population just won everything. And thus, the parties quickly consolidate down to only 2 real choices in order to avoid that.
But Dems and Reps love having a death grip on power, even if it means having to see-saw it back and forth to keep it. They will NEVER work to undo their godhood. The only way it will ever end is a constitutional convention ratified by 3/4 of the states themselves, and even that would be hard since the two parties dominate at the state level, too.

Acting like democrats are the solution is a massive problem.

Trump isnt THE problem, hes a symptom of a much larger problem. The problem is:

Both parties are in bed with wall street and silicon valley
Both parties are for war (seriously, can we stop bombing syria? This country doesnt even have an air force why are we wasting money killing people)
Democrats are weak. Seriously the donors who put democrats in power are weak who give in to republicans

Finally, and perhaps most importantly, the problem is our society hasn't had a major lifestyle change since the mid 00s. We have been living the following life for a while now:

Wake up to our smartphone alarm, check social media as we get ready for work/school
Drive to work/school with our music app running
Get to work/school, perform activities while hearing about how economy has been shit since the collapse of 07/08
Get home and consume more internet media (Netflix, Steam, Reddit, Facebook, etc). If a Friday/Saturday maybe go out with friends
Go to bed

We havent had a major breakthrough like the superhighway system/TV in the 50s/60s. Or a personal computer of the 80s. Or a internet of the mid 90s through early 00s. Or even the smartphone/social media revolution of 2006/2007/2008. Its a major cultural stagnation. When culture stagnates, people like Trump get elected.

Also...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khan_Shaykhun_chemical_attack
The attack was conducted by the forces of Syrian President Bashar Assad according to international human rights organizations and governments of the United States, United Kingdom, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, France, and Israel. The Assad government denied using any chemical weapons in the air strike.

I'd really like to know how the Syrian government manages to pull off airstrikes without having an air force. That's a damn impressive feat!

Not sure about the cultural stagnation leading to Trump argument, but we have indeed stagnated. It's mainly a result of the voodoo economic Republican mantra of cutting taxes on the wealthy as much as possible, and then lowering funding to infrastructure and scientific endeavors cause we don't have enough money.

So far I'm up to going to Matilda for the first time, and I think I've only died on one boss and then random battles are clearly before Jowy leaves and then still easy with the auto command even after you lose buddy attack

Really fun though, but I'm kind of thrown off by the random vampire insert.... And the rune stuff in general

Kind of detracts from the glorious war/battle plot when all of the high fantasy starts popping up

Oh well

I'm guessing I'm halfway done or so, that right?

First trip to Matilda? I guess about halfway....been so long since I actually went there when the plot expects you to, lol (Matilda Glitch ftw)
Suikoden's never been considered particularly hard, even for a RPGs, the challenge is more about recruiting all 108. I never saw the appeal of a game where you die a lot anyway, though. I guess if they pump the enemies' stats up so that they do outrageous damage and you get some bad luck sequences and die a ton, it makes it feel "challenging?" It's a turn-based RPG, it's not like you'd be dying to intelligent enemy tactics or anything that requires real skill to overcome anyway.

Personal tastes, but I like the mix of fantasy w/ the runes and such and the drama and interaction between people thrown into a war. I don't think the fantasy elements are overwhelming...Luca Blight's the most incredibly evil monster in all of video gaming if not all media and he's pretty explicitly "just a dude" with little to no magical ability.
The vampire's not a "random insert," he was in the first game and has at least a bit of backstory, which Suikoden II gets into later on, plus his history w/ Viktor.

I still think he was originally a set up to get Hillary to win, but then Trump realized he had a chance to win himself and broke kayfabe.

My take during the election was that he was just trying to get a ton of free/low cost publicity (seriously, the amount of tv time he got vs. his campaign expenses is crazy, I don't like him but he knows how to manipulate the media) and never actually thought he could win when he entered.
Then when he realized the Republican field was such an utter cluster fuck that he was the preferred choice, he decided to just go for it because of how great an ego stroke it'd be to actually become president.

I also remember the awkward transition phase Feb-March 2016 timeframe, where he slowly came to the choice to go for it, where for a few weeks he seemed to just be outright sabotaging his own campaign. He wasn't prepared to actually win and tried to sink it. But by then the alternative was Ted freaking Cruz, so even that didn't work and eventually he just went with it, lol.

I helped my friend change his once, so that I could learn how to do it. Took a long time and was pretty dirty work, and while I get cheap oil and he splurged for the better kind...he ended up paying about as much as I do. Doesn't seem worth all the effort at all.

I get it every 3500 miles, and I don't drive much so that's basically 3 times a year. Usually around $25 or so after tax. Having someone else do it has other benefits. They generally do some basic checks on the car for free, and apparently fill your fluids. Because every time I actually remember to check my fluids (maybe once in 5 years!), they're all mysteriously at sufficient levels even though I have never once in my life poured any in myself.

All that said, shouldn't his firing be a good thing?

He's a jerk, so I rejoice in his humiliation and firing.
But on the other hand, he was investigating Trump and now Trump got rid of him. Does Trump get to name his replacement, and then said guy picks up the investigation? That'd be really messed up.

Yep. Don't piss off one of these fucks that has no life and just lives to stalk your posts and mark every. Single. One. As offensive

Don't often agree w/ you, but you're totally right here. Anonymous reporting-based moderations with extremely overbearing strict rules will always lead to abuse.
Cowards who don't like you can stalk everything you say and report anything remotely potentially mod-able even as people who haven't gained anonymous mortal enemies post far worse things with impunity. The worst part is, if you try to "get back" at the slights by reporting tons of posts yourself, you've just become part of the problem. So all you can do is maintain your "nonviolence" and refuse to participate in this sham of a system while getting non-stop assailed.

Comey is a real rollercoaster for both sides.

First he's anti hillary cause he investigated her emails or some shit.

Then he said there's nothing wrong with her so he's anti-repub

Then he sent some shit to congress before the election so hes anti hillary again and apparently was trying to rig the election

Then he investigated trump so hes anti repub

It's a whole thing.

Investigating her emails is justifiable and doesn't make him anti-anything.

When he said she did nothing criminal, he still decided to deride her publicly for her reckless actions. There's a reason making moral judgments on the accused that have no basis in the facts is a huge n-no in law enforcement, it's basically abusing your position of authority to assassinate someone's character. That moment was very much anti-Democrat, unless you think anything short of literally trying her for crimes she didn't commit is falling short of being fair.

His words DID rig the election, and were baseless. Then just this week, he claimed there were classified emails sent to Anthony Weiner and that turned out to be a lie (some...not many...were made classified after being sent...which means she did NOT "send classified emails" since when she sent them they weren't). As anti-Dem as you can get.

Investigating Trump over legit concerns of Russian influence is not anti-anything, just as investigating her emails wasn't. HOWEVER, publicly tongue lashing her and then saying there's a breakthrough in the case that classified emails MAY have been sent (only to find out later once they actually looked through them, oops...nope, "maybe we should have properly examined the evidence before I opened my fucking mouth") while simultaneously not saying a peep about the investigation into Russian hacking the Dems? Very anti-Dem. Again.

I don't like Hillary, so much that I voted 3rd party. But your account of Comey's actions are complete bull shit.

pretty sure he's not being investigated anymore, which is how he was able to be fired.

he's been under investigation since he announced he was running, you'd really think they'd find something by now if he had anything worth being found out

i wonder why nothings been found yet

Well, Congress controls the investigation, and Congress is fully controlled by Republicans...
And have had numerous scandals so far with the investigation, including the guy who was leading it visiting Trump in secret and then lying about it before it was found out...
And then the testimony yesterday the Republicans were more concerned about grilling Yates about who the whistle blower...excuse me... "leaker" was that did the public service of letting us know the National Security Advisor lied about meeting with the Russians...than learning about what Flynn did and why it took several weeks to can him after the facts came out.

So yeah, I wonder why nothing's been found yet.

Yeah the senate has been sitting on its hands because a successful investigation will likely destroy them at the next election.

In general, the investigation has been running on bare minimum resources which was discussed in yesterday's hearings. Without an independent commission with actual funding you can expect this investigation to get virtually no where for a very long time.

See, voters have really short memories. Like...people were furious at Republicans for the shutdown in 2013...and then in 2014 gave them huge wins.
Almost seems like it'd be better to get it over with faster, cause if it happened 2+ months ago, voters don't remember. So hopefully the obfuscation will come back to bite them in the ass and the facts will come pouring out next year when they could've been dealt w/ this year if only they had been serious about the investigation.

Gee, lots of people being fired in this administration.

I mean, he did campaign with draining the swamp.

Except most of the people he's fired have been "the best people" that he himself brought in when he took office.

Never mind that his slogan is bs and he's loaded the swamp w/ more corporate execs than have ever been in a cabinet and largely just gone after government scientists and other employees who are non-political, middle class, have absolutely no power over the regulations they must abide by and actions they're told to carry out, and serve an entire career, through both R and D administrations.
But yeah, YEE-HAW, drain that swamp!

I tried to replay Suikoden some years back and but kinda killed my interest when I was grinding for Water Rune pieces. I had hoped to stack my main characters with them and never worry about healing ever again. I might give Suikoden III a chance some day but am not sure about IV and V. Pity Genso Suikogaiden 1 and 2 were never officially translated.

It's really not that hard of a game, you don't need to grind for stuff. I actually love how much Suikoden is anti-grinding, what with its XP system. Quickly reach a point of diminishing returns where you're only getting 5 or 10 xp a battle if you grind the same characters in an area but on the other hand, you can have a low level newbie tag along and he can shoot up 30 levels in a couple fights and be only a few levels behind the other people.

My friend mentioned that it was based on the Romance of the Three Kingdoms story.

Dynasty warriors is romance of the Three kingdoms

Suikoden is water margin/outlaws of the marsh

I always wanted a Dynasty Warriors style Suikoden game, even more than I wanted a Zelda DW spinoff (which I was very happy for, and it was awesome!). Just seemed like the two would be a great match.

i was tackling Suikoden 1 recently with the intention of playing 2 as well, but started getting bored right around Seek Valley. kinda got sick of having to abuse the dice game to upgrade characters that i was only going to need for 10 minutes every time something happened in the story. I've hear Suikoden 2 greatly improves upon S1's many glaring flaws but i have to get my motivation back to finish off 1 first since i know i'm really close to the end.

Again...the game's pretty forgiving. And weapon upgrade costs go up exponentially, so if you stop a few levels short of the max you can upgrade, it would probably halve the amount of bits you need for those characters and you wouldn't lose *that* much damage.
I don't think S1 had "many glaring flaws," but S2 is pretty much the ideal sequel in that it took everything great about the first game and made it better. And the fact it has so many returning characters and plot continuity including the S1 main if you import save data.

I never played the previous titles or know anything about them.

I enjoyed Seiken Densetsu 3 anyway. The story is pretty simplistic, so there's no way I'm missing much "lore." The most interesting story was Lise and Hawk (pairs have shared/linked stories), and everything that made them interesting was deeply personal to those two characters and about stuff that happens in this game. Maybe if I knew the prior games, Kevin/"whatever that stupid girl I never use name is" would be more interesting, but it's pretty lame other than the Kevin-specific parts, which...again were about events that occurred in the game.

I really want to try co-op some time.

I've never heard of that brand but it looks like they're just pre-baked crusts. It's really not THAT hard to make pizza dough.

its not as-such, but the pounding, folding, and tossing to get it right is pretty time-consuming.

Yeah, I'd rather just buy the Boboli and put it in the oven for 8-10 min. From the looks of the price of pizza dough, it's not even like I'd be saving a ton doing it from scratch.

I get the 2 personal sized crusts all the time for my wife and I, we love them. I see much cheaper options for pre-made crusts, but they all look noticeably different and I'm hesitant to try.
Still, about $4 for two 8" crusts isn't that bad.
We usually make tomato/pineapple/feta pizza, w/ mozarella cheese (pre-shredded bags) and thick and chunky pasta sauce (Homestyle Ragu Thick & Hearty Four Cheese is the best).
Sometimes if I have taco meat left over, I'll make taco pizza w/ them.
