In order for the speed of anything to slow or alter something else has to facilitate the change. Sound waves travel faster in water because water molecules are closer together than air and can spread the vibration faster, so the speed of sound in water is faster than the speed of sound in air.

Now, typically for a thing to slow in speed it requires friction to pull energy from the moving object into the other object. This can be a physical object or it can be an outside force like gravity. Now gravity is a fun thing to mess with since it affects everything. Light, while largely regarded as massless, is still affected by gravity as seen by gravitational lensing around black holes.

All in all while relativity and adjacent theories can explain a lot about how space and light interact with each other, it doesnt do a good job of explaining what light actually IS. In many theories something that's massless can't be affected by gravity due to not having mass, and at the same time it is. Soooo, still working on that part.

Man I gotta over $2k PC with a 4080, games like Dragons Dogma 2 and Starfield still struggled on it. Id hate to see how a $600 PC handles those games tbh.

You don't need to spend much more than a console to get a good PC. 1440p 60hz, even 75hz, is better than what consoles offer and is very affordable, especially when you factor in the long term savings of modular upgrades and no subscription fees.

A budget PC will be stronger than and outlast a PS5. The "console optimizations" that people love to bring up are literally just the graphics settings being lowered compared to the high/max PC settings. Consoles don't have some sort of secret sauce that PC doesn't that makes games magically run better.

I've looked at the PS5 performance of the games that I've played on PC, and they all run at lower resolutions and quality settings than they do on my budget PC to just barely maintain 60FPS.

The "overhead" thing is just another myth people love to cling to. It is so utterly insignificant and not an issue.

Find me a gaming PC that includes everything it needs to run out of the box for $600 that can maintain 1440p 60fps on modern games.

Also, PC vs console overhead is not a myth. PCs run more background processes than consoles do, which allow the console to take advantage of more of the system's resources, which means the same overall results can be achieved with a smaller resource pool.

Very aware of that. I was just mentioning it as one thing that can be a negative about PC gaming. Is it easy to get around? Yeah but it's still something to keep in mind.

Better Performance: If you spend a LOT more on hardware, and still situational. See Dragon's Dogma 2 and all the Batman Arkham games.
More Games: True, however certain games take longer to release on PC if they ever do.
Free Online: True... but online and cloud saves arent the only benefits for PS+. I have more games in my PS+ library than ones I've actually bought.
Quieter: Not necessarily. My PS5 is whisper quiet, but I've had my PC fans much louder depending on the situation and game.

I own a decent PC and a PS5. I play both regularly and often what I play on is only determined by what kind of game it is. I also have both an Xbox and a Playstation controller plugged into my PC, and use either one depending on what button prompts the game gives me.

People who do things like call one or the other "trash" are being incredibly disingenuous. Either one is good. A PS5 likely will outlast any singular build of gaming PC unless you go for an incredibly expensive one, simply because games are often worse optimized on PC because they have the option to take advantage of stronger hardware, which you may or may not own.

However the problem with that is PC games NEED stronger hardware in order to achieve the same performance levels the PS5 gets simply due to there being more overheard or background processing involved on a PC. PS5 and other console games can be coded closer "to the metal" than on PC and as such can have access to more of the system's resources, even if the system overall has less of them.

On the flip side though there are certain games, that even though they might be available on console I'll only play on PC. Playing Rimworld, Sims, Civ, and many other games just do not have good control options for console, and I wouldnt want to play those games (especially Rimworld) without mods.

Speaking of controls... some games on PC have HORRIBLE mouse and keyboard controls. the ones that most immediately come to mind are the Dark Souls series and Monster Hunter games, though it can apply to basically any third person action game.

TBH If you HAVE the money for a decent gaming rig, you won't regret getting one. If you need to save up for a while or risk putting yourself at some financial risk, I'd recommend just sticking to the PS5.

AS stated in the title, i keep getting redirected to this garbage. Only happens on GameFAQs and no other site, so I'm highly suspicious it's not my PC but the site itself that has the problem. Anyone else having this happen?

Edit: A thing to note is I've never had Norton Antivirus on this PC.

I just got off work like a half hour ago.

Driving at night/in inclimate weather. I know how to handle my vehicle in pretty much any situation I'm in so i'm 100% ok driving in those kinds of scenarios. HOWEVER I'm always terrified of it and hate to do it because I never know what moron may come by and not know to allow extra braking distance or what level of force to apply to the brakes in snow/rain/ice in order to not have them lock up and slide right into me.

You genuinely seem like a very angry person.

The reason I can use social media just fine is because I'm not a developing youth and I don't put my own vision of self-worth in the hands of others, especially "influencers" or Hollywood actors. HOWEVER there are a LOT of people, younger and older who do, and they shouldn't. That's where a lot of the mental health issues spawn from, and to be honest it's just an extension of problems that have been going on for decades, long before social media was a thing.

There have been huge outcries against teen magazines for printing articles about how young people should act/dress/etc. There's been outcries against places using airbrushed photos of models "perpetuating an unrealistic body image" etc etc.

This isn't a NEW problem, it's just a new coat of paint.

Now here's the kicker right? I've always been against social media. I feel overall it makes people dumber and less socially aware. I use it yes, but it's a tool for me and nothing more.

The ban is for social media owned by foreign adversaries. As much as Musk is a tool he's a US tool. Same with Twitch. If both of those end up banned as well for "some reason" There's alternatives to both.

I don't have twitch as like my primary income or anything, it's barely any income at all. I do it for fun. If there somehow ends up being ABSOLUTELY ZERO streaming sites left somehow... well I have all the memories and friends I made along the way.

I do make use of it for things like fun, news, and **** but if it all went away tomorrow... it'd be a pain to keep in contact with some friends, but it would be possible.

The biggest problem I have is that my work schedule is so demanding i don't have time to do any of the things i need to for it.

I've almost fully social transitioned (except for makeup, still learning that) but as far as the medical stuff, I've done the therapy bit but getting a good time to see my Dr is near impossible cause I'm only able to schedule things 2 days of the week.
