If the cheapest and simplest of the Simple Weapons were as effective as they should be it'd throw off weapon damage progression.

There was a time when the rate of fire was so slow and bayonets so crappy that if a bunch of dudes with melee weapons got within melee range of you you were kind of fucked. IE Highland Charges during the Jacobite Rebellions. Imagine hundreds, or thousands, of Scottish dudes charging you in wedge formations, usually downhill, firing the guns they had at you in a volley, dropping the guns, taking your volley in response by ducking as low to the ground as they could, then screaming and finishing the charge by taking the point of your bayonet on their targe (type of shield) and then gutting you with either a broadsword or dirk.

It's always something I've found weird for sure. The spear has always been the simplest and most basic weapon humans have us in large numbers in our history. It's just a long pointy stick. You can fancy it up, but when you need weapons in large numbers you can go into the woods, find a long straight stick, sharpen it, and Bam you got yourself a spear.

What I really want out of a fallout game is the robust crafting system and settlement building of 4 with everything else being like New Vegas.

It was my mistake thinking we could have actual discussion on CE rather than a bunch of reactionary gotcha addicts that twist everything to try to rack them up.

I was just going off what was said about the developers and what they wanted the Legion to be. The faction was created to make you recoil but also make you question whether their methods worked in the Wasteland. There is NPC dialogue and lore that blatantly makes you question such things and it's meant to.

Their lands are safe from raiders and other typical wasteland threats but at what cost? That is the main question.

So the thing is, I can listen to Caesar's arguments in the game. I can divorce myself from the world I live in and put myself in the Wasteland. The arguments he makes are coherent and rational. I get them, I understand how he comes by them, I see how they can work. Then I shoot him in the face, because he's a monster.

The society he's trying to build is a monolithic monster wherein the continuation and stability of the society is of more value than the quality of the lives of the individuals in it. Society should serve to provide a framework for the betterment of the individuals in it. Not the other way around. It is, in essence, a sort of post apocalyptic fascism.

I have this to say about it: this guy is emblematic of a genre of freak that has spawned out of the tech industry in the past decade or two. In exchange for their prominent positions in the economy, they have produced nothing of value and many things that are actively harmful. They seek to remake the world to prevent people from noticing their lack of clothes.

The bigger takeaway in this is that a lot of that wealth the top millennials have, was probably not earned by them, it's inherited - or their parents position and influence allowed them to get ahead where others weren't so lucky.

Your average millennial is almost certainly NOT "way ahead" of where their parents were at the same age, if they're doing better AT ALL.

There is a real gap in the millennial generation. Those of us who were out of college (or would have been, I didn't go) and into our jobs several years before the 08 collapse are doing far better than the ones after that. That group I think is called "Elder Millenials" and were born between 81 and 84. We didn't have the crippling loan debt that those came after us did. Most of the people I graduated with in 2000 took on some debt, but it was in the 10-20k range for their bachelor's.

We got lucky, I had an ok job waiting for me out of HS and my wife (Highschool GF) went to college on a full ride at a State School because of her grades and test scores. So we had essentially no debt past other than my car when we got married in 04. That allowed us to save up money and build a house when the market was it's bottom in 09 and builder's were basically begging people to build with them.

Generally the worst off ones I know are the ones who graduated between 2007 and 2011. Especially the ones who came out of college in that time, saw the market collapsing, and just went "well I'll just stay in school, take out more loans, and get my Masters". Which on paper was probably a good bet, but they accrued so much loan debt that they'll never pay it off.

Even now though, we don't make anywhere near that. In a good year we might clear 80k after taxes between the two of us. We only live as well as we do because we don't have kids. Every millennial I know that has kids is miserable and broke.

These protests are mostly left leaning. The things you mentioned are all right wing oriented. The police are an inherently conservative institution.

I'm sympathetic towards Jewish students who are offended or made to feel unsafe by some of the rhetoric being spewed by some of these protesters, but that feels like a pretext for the disproportionate response we've seen from law enforcement. If antisemitic rhetoric is really a justification for this sort of response, why did police do nothing when literal Nazis were marching in Charlottesville chanting "blood and soil" and "Jews will not replace us"?
