how would you rate the story so far compared to the first?

Well it's been 15 years since I played the TWEWY so I don't remember specific details; just the general theme, message, and some high points which I love.

But that being said I am absolutely loving Neo's story so far. This is how you do a sequel, by introducing new characters that you actually like (Fret and Rindo are definitely a likable pair) and slowly revealing more and more of the story, more references to the original, old and new characters alike, and having them all tie into the story.

I just about freaked when I saw Sho Minamimoto, ton of nostalgia floodgates flowing in.

I definitely feel like I've gotten into a much better groove in week 2, playing on Hard pretty much the whole time.

Loving this game, take note Tales of Symphonia 2 this is how you start a sequel! At first I thought that was Neku, but it turned out to be Beat! Love that bait-and-switch, I was like no way that could be Neku and he lose against some random girl and I was right.

it really sucks how shitty Nintendo is as a company because when they truly try (which is happening farther and farther between lately) they make the best games in the industry

That's the thing, if you look at their history they seem to only ever try when they're struggling in the market. RE 4 on gamecube, Bayonetta 2 on Wii u then later bundled with Bayo 1, they only ever bother when they're out of options. It makes you not want to support them because if you do, they just get more greedy rather than supportive.

Yeah it's a shame the game didn't receive well, because it clearly a love letter to the classic Crash games. The problem is it goes way too far in that direction, hiding things in frustrating parts and every level being like 4 times as long as any of the PS1 ones. Not to mention the levels themselves just being more difficult.

The levels being so long makes doing stuff like making it through the level without dying or never missing a box so much more annoying, when in the PS1 games those were fun targets to go after because they were generally harder, but not much harder than just playing through the level, which made going after the extra rewards more encouraging (the exception to this are the 2nd/3rd time trial rewards, but the first time trials weren't too hard).

Its just being too over-indulgent into what people love about Crash, that it sort of goes too deep and ends up missing the mark.

Also a shame, because it means we'll also probably never get a similar game with Spyro.

Agreed, and that last bit in particular is what's sad because we definitely won't get another Spyro game. I played the remake trilogy and overall they were not bad, I'd say I enjoyed them.

But actually I would much rather have Sly 5, which is the real shame because it's a fun platformer and yet seems to be the most forgotten out of the Sony platformer properties despite having my favorite aesthetic and feel (heists, saturday morning cartoon style adventures, cel-shaded graphics, it checks all boxes)

the problem with "just don't do it" means you miss out on like... 70% of the game's content and replayability. people should go off and mald as the kids say so maybe next time the devs will try something that isn't tedious and almost spiteful to the player at times

not that the series isn't face down in the ditch now anyway

Good point. What do you think about "punishing" the devs by forcing them to complete their own game? I don't know how extensive their playtesting is but it feels doubtful they could actually complete their own game.

Damn there are some days where I feel like I've finally gotten into the groove and switch to Hard Mode, and other days where I can't seem to kick ass as much as I want.

Hard pressing the shoulder buttons is gonna destroy my controller isn't it... I'm glad I have one more controller and just a couple ps4 games left anyway so it's no big deal, but yeah. I just remembered, the original game actually caused me to end up scratching my DS touch screen, after putting in like 500 hours into the game.

Honestly, just hold off on it. Maybe next Mar10 or the year after it will be 33% off. I'm sure you've got other games you can or want to play until then. I've held off on purchasing many games I've wanted for price drops, such as Mario+Rabbids Sparks of Hope Gold Edition, which I finally bought in January for like $41 (which went on sale again for Mar10 for $36).

Yeah that's when I bought Bayonetta Origins, Nintendo had one of their "sales" where it was $42 instead of the usual $60 so I got it then. I'll do the same with lm 2, definitely not in a hurry to buy or play it until it goes on sale, or as much a sale as Nintendo is willing to go.

Wish they had released 2 before 3 because I'm worried the QoL improvements in 3 will make me not want to go back to 2. Oh well.

What's with some gamers' compulsive need to do everything. The hate is completely justified but at the same time it's like, don't do it.

I watched the first 2 seasons during the pandemic and was going crazy at the cliffhanger for season 2. But then season 3 starts with a whimper and now this whole sisterhood of dada arc is just... boring.

I actually enjoyed it in season 1 and 2 for being a character study more than a traditional superhero show, especially when they went on crazy adventures like the pink bad idea insects. But now as of season 3 it just feels... meandering. And no Timothy Dalton sucks :(

one of my biggest complaints that i stand by is that too few of the levels and worlds felt "Crash"

the island goes by very quickly, the pirate world is alright, the snow world is alright, and the latter swamp-half of the new orleans world is alright. i think i remember a mine or some kind of sewer, or plant, that was cool too. and the other playable characters were just really janky, especially cortex

You know what I actually loved the Cortex castle aesthetic (I love castles in general) but the last bit of platforming ranged from tedious to annoyingly difficult.

Not sure what you mean though. When I first played I did feel like the "order" of levels was messed up, like they did away with the traditional 90s design of forest first, then desert, then fire, then ice land, etc etc
