Nope. LUE was cut off during the CJayC years so he wasn't being a dick about it. A lot of us floated over here or just got busy with life so now there's still new threads and posts being made, just not at the speed it use to. Like the days when we could 500 a topic about fart stories, soccer mom encounters, and bathroom mishaps

Seth MacFarlane should have a lot of sway with fox studio heads right, do the show the way he wants. That's probably how he could even launch another sci-fi show off the ground, knowing what Fox did to the other one *cough* firefly *cough*

He went to fox wanting to head a Star Trek show that eventually became discovery. They turned him down. He came back with a Star Trek-like show that had some humor to it and they agreed on the grounds he made it look like a parody. Plus with Discovery on the horizon they wanted to get ahead of it.

I'm watching episode six now and I do genuinely wonder if he's written to be autistic. Before he was just interacting with the BoS guys and I figured it was because he and they were both raised in a weird technology cult.

But now that he's around normal - well, more normal - people, he's just god awful at any kind of social interaction. Like someone just absolutely dumpstered this boy's charisma stat. And he's bad at it in such a fundamental way that it really seems like it's more than just being awkward.

He's also very child-like in a weird way? Like he's not quite all there in the head.

Maybe he's suppose to be that character that first timers don't spec very well but still manage to make it to the end.

As someone who's only dabbled in FO1 and 2, and beaten NV, would I still get enjoyment out of the story, or does it rely on understanding the lore at large?

Explaining this universe to my wife took a minute. "So there was this world that was like the 50s cold war era except they were more advanced than us in some ways and they all got nuked so the whole atmosphere of the universe is frozen in this post-war US culture but it was actually in the future compared to us" etc etc

Definitely. Or someone get sucked into a wall and their body spazzes out. Had that happen while fighting a super mutant in 3. Dudes whipping my ass and then suddenly gets sucked into the wall til I can finally kill it.

i watched the first episode. tbh i wasn't very impressed. so much setup. i think the pre-war stuff, maybe even the vault stuff, should have been shown later in flashbacks or something. i want to get to the wasteland stuff that was depicted in all the trailers.

this kinda makes me just want to watch Nuke Break instead.

I admit, the first episode does feel a bit slow, but that's pretty expected for first episodes of a series. World build, character introducing. So I guess it's just like the games . Always felt the beginning of 3 and New Vegas was a slog.
