I finally met my match at Queen's Blood, the very final challenger of course.

I need to update my deck since I've been pretty much using the same one for the entire game. Now I have too many cards to choose from ugh it can wait til later

Holy Jenova there's so much to clean up after finishing the story.

There's a bazillion minigames, plus all the combat simulations... not sure I have the patience for this

There are definitely some poorly designed aspects in an otherwise fantastic game. Many times where it forces you to move slowly for no reason.

The open world also needed some improvement, can't tell you how many times my chocobo has bonked on a small ledge that it should easily be able to run over.

The chocobo controls actually leave a lot to be desired honestly. Except the last region variant, that one's ability is by far the best.

Yuffie consistently made me laugh throughout the game, she's like an energetic younger sister. Her interactions with Barret are especially endearing to me.

Anyone ignoring Queen's Blood is missing out on top tier content

Yeah that's when I forced myself to learn how to play so I could be champion. After that I fell in love with Queen's Blood, too bad Fort Condor didn't get similar treatment!

Demons Souls didnt need story adjustments, and the lore is tied to other games. Also, BluePoint made it. Not FromSoft. You cant take an ip youre being given only to do an HD remaster and change plot stuff without permission.

They were given permission to add more content for the unused archstone. I didn't need more added to the story, just extra gameplay woulda been nice. Also it's a standalone, the lore isn't connected to any other game.

Remakes should be used to expand and freshen up the story and gameplay. That way they don't replace the original, they accompany it instead.

Red is a dog so it makes more sense to me for his voice to have somewhat of a growl to it. His gruff voice is perfect, his child voice is annoying.

As for the story, I've enjoyed the changes they made so far (though I haven't beaten Rebirth yet), much better than doing a 1 to 1 recreation. Demons Souls did that and it's worse off for it. Remakes need to have some fresh material for it to be worth it imo.

I would recommend another topic marked for spoilers.

Also I've been fine with all the voices up to a certain point. They completely ruined Red for me, can't even stand to use him in combat anymore, really sad.

At least Cait Sith is awesome enough!

The Kyrie side mission after Kalm had a really loud irritating track.

Yeah I had to turn the volume down on that one, she was really annoying while I was in combat as well, complaining that I haven't beaten the monsters yet when I just started fighting!

That was the worst side quest until I found the actual worst one (probably), slowly leading chickens back to their pen. Just awful.

No it's available from the start. Just hit R1/L1 to switch between your three presets.

Also I'm surprised at how much Queen's Blood has hooked me. I ignored it completely at first, but the tournament activated my competitive side so I buckled down and really got the hang of it. Now I destroy every opponent I come across it's wonderful.

Fort Condor has yet to click, where do I get more powerful units?

You can change it in settings, World Navigation Display is set to tracker by default.

There's quite a few settings worth changing around.

Yes, I still go back to it. The gameplay is just too damn smooth and nothing else can scratch that stealth action itch the same.

Eventually I'm gonna go through the Souls series and also Sekiro, which I've heard is the most challenging.

I think the challenge comes from years of souls experience. My first time with Sekiro was definitely a challenge since I had to unlearn certain habits and pick up new ones. Like jumping over sweeping attacks, that took the most effort for me to nail down, since my reflexes were so dependent on dodging through attacks which isn't viable in Sekiro.

It also likely depends on how much you enjoy parrying, since spacing is much less important, in fact it's even detrimental to distance yourself from an enemy. Sekiro demands you stay right in your opponent's face and meet every attack head on.

It took a long time for this playstyle to sink in but once it finally did Sekiro became a top 2 game of all time for me, following Bloodborne.

Elden Ring is either in third or fourth place, switching back and forth with DS1.

Elden Ring is good at that, but if you are googling "Elden Ring all dungeons map" and going straight to each one and sprinting through them of course you'll have a lousy time.

It's a replayability issue. The first time through the game yeah it's a great time to explore everything. But now after several hundred hours I know that most of the stuff I can find is useless to whichever build I'm running.

Again, Elden Ring is incredible and the world is beautiful. I just think it'd be better with smaller denser areas. I don't see how that's a controversial opinion.

There are certainly games I can get over it with, lie Elden Ring, but I still don't enjoy the open world aspect of the game. I just tolerate it to get myself to the next landmark section.

Yeah as much as I love Elden Ring, the open world aggravates the shit out of me. So many open spaces with nothing interesting in it.

Liurnia is a beautiful place, sure, but it's got one dungeon in it which isn't even that dense. You can run through the whole thing in about 10 minutes.

I don't understand why people love open worlds when it just relagates half the game to "holding forward for several minutes til you reach the fun part."

Unless the traversal itself is the main appeal of the game, like with Spider-Man, then there's no reason for such a gigantic open world.

So I've recently got back into Elden Ring, I still have mixed feelings since I generally can't stand open worlds. Regardless, this is an incredible game.

It surely does piss me off more than any of the previous titles, but damn is it pretty!
