Or just fucking call the store before you go there and ask is it's in stock.
Why the fuck would I annoy the shit out of the employees when both they know and I know there is no stock and a small release like whatever I am looking for had no chance to last long with all the other fellow nerds in my area? A small print release game long gone isn't going to magically appear in a shelf. You can check if something is in stock on the website already genius.

Tyranthraxus posted...
Or just have it shipped directly to you and waste no time at all.
Amazon takes like a week or more to get new games out (if you knew what you are talking about then you would know just how long dudes who pre-ordered mega man battle network collection had to actually wait to get their copy), and best buy in-person has cleared out a lot of their video game space and online shipping wise also takes awhile compared to just getting my ass to the store in-person. Believe it or not, some of us still like to go to stores.....in-person. This leads back to the "clearing out video game space part" Wal-mart and target down my way are only really stocking the usual AAA or constant selling stuff, a.k.a. super mario 64 for the DS.....still.

You know whats convenient though? Like, reaaaally convenient? Swinging by the local gamestop (main reason I opt for this gamestop because its roughly 5 minutes away from my house and in the same strip mall as the wal-mart I normally go to for groceries), going "hey man wassup? Can I put 5 down on stellar blade real quick? No crippling social anxiety to slow this transaction down thats for sure.

He asks "want to put insurance on it"?. I say "nah I'm good". Boom. Done. Not even longer than 3 minutes.

When release day comes the store opens at 12 pm most days, 10 am fridays and saturdays....either way, its during a time when I am doing grocery shopping. Swing by when I am done picking up stuff in local food lion or wal-mart, pick up physical game that I wanted since I pre-ordered and don't have to drive around town on a damn where's waldo hunt for loose one piece pirate warriors 4 copy since I was smart enough to put 5 on it and ensure my copy, and I go home. All done in no longer than what, 15ish minutes total?

USPS, fedex and UPS usually doing their rounds sometimes after 2:00 pm but most at or around 3 pm in my area, and if you are lucky that game will be on release....with gamestop's online shipping it's not (and you have a mandatory 6.99 shipping charge on orders under a 100 dollar something total) and will always be 1 day late, amazon is irrelevant for new games since they always without fail take days to release prime be damned, and best buy is too hit or miss.

You shouldn't be impacted by this because you shouldn't be preordering in the first place.
And waste my gas and my time hunting for that whopping all of 2 copies my county in south carolina probably got for niche physicals I am actually interested in like star ocean 2 r or even more "well known" stuff like super mario rpg would be lucky to get like 6 total to go around? Fuck all that.

I never did get this anti-pre-order mentality that some on the internet try to push for all video games. Look, I get it....pre-ordering games from the usual suspects like EA, bethesda, ubisoft, activision-blizzard, cd project red etc. is usually always a gamble. This kind of thing is normally not a thing you worry about with nintendo, and more niche games are almost always smaller in scope to not suffer with being busted on release. (Only one I can think of that was legit trash was river city girls 2).

Unfortunately we can't all be so lucky to be living in some urban environment with a variety of stores to chose from that may have a generous amount of stock to go around. I don't pre-order that tales of *insert title here* if I was interested in the disc then I won't be getting that disc loose.

Idk maybe Im just tainted by the memory of one of my friends whos got a bit of an inferiority complex who refused to play any other Smash besides Brawl because that was the only one he was best at.

Plus I feel like I remember people unwarrantedly bitching and moaning about Smash 4
I think when it comes to smash 4 most of it's heat came from the competitive side. At the end of it's life bayonetta ruled the competitive scene with a iron fist. For us casuals though smash 4 was pure fun, it's new art style is nice, and it was packed full of good stages and music.

As stronk as bayonetta ended up being in smash 4 I still think every single person would agree that its still better than the trip meta knight fest brawl ended up being. It does suck that snake could not make it back in smash 4, but at least they fixed that for ultimate.

Like, 2001 or 2002.

WWF no mercy, gauntlet legends, perfect dark and conker's bad fur day are the last 4 games that my household has legit played the breaks off when it comes to local multiplayer.

Once more 4 player dreamcast games came out, and especially when I got my first og xbox in about, 2003 the N64 never saw the light of day again. I don't even know if it actually still works because I legit did not cut that thing on once dreamcast+xbox+gamecube got more games lol.

IMO out of every nintendo console that ever released, N64 definitely aged the worst for me. Like the low fps alongside the generous amounts of fog just isn't something I don't have a single bit of nostalgia for. I can play the hell out of some NES, SNES, gamecube and Wii games that did not prioritize the wii mote too much, but when it comes to the N64 2D stuff like mischief makers, or certain 3D games like some mystical ninja starring geomon, conker's bad fur day, and star fox 64 is all I really got.

It sold a lot for sure and I definitely still played a lot of the game with my brother and 2 nephews, but smash wii u coming out made brawl a game that was never actually cut on again for every single person I know.

Final fantasy's older turn based ATB systems are overrated (mainly because there was other jrpgs in the 16 and 32 bit eras doing the turn based thing better) and it isn't worth the tears some are shedding when it comes to the way more fun battle system FF7 remake and rebirth came up with.

Liver and onions (at least among the southern states), with cubesteak coming in second. If my dad had his way he'd be eating this every other day, alternating with cubesteak and baked turkey wings.

I grew up in a mostly soul-food cooking household so eating certain things a ton made me grow to dislike it later in life. Liver and onions is one of those dishes, lol.

It isn't like this food is bad and my family on both my dad and mom's side can absolutely throw down in the kitchen, I just can't stand the site and smell of this stuff because of how much I had to eat it as a kid.

*On the reverse side, there is many things I grew to love but was picky about eating as a kid. String beans, peas, squash, and okra are 4 things I really love today but hated as a youngling*

Its getting to the point were Gamestop hardly has that many games. Like, I did not even realize Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes was a thing so I tried to buy it for the PS4, but since I did not reserve it, not only did it not have any copies, none of the other stores in the area had it either so I gave up and just bought the online one....it is looking grave.
Well, as much as a lot of dudes like to talk shit about those that pre-order games that is pretty much the entire point of pre-ordering......so you let the store know you want a copy of this smaller niche game and thus they order a extra 1 just for you. Don't ever expect to waltz in any store, even one that sells a lot of games like gamestop and expect to find loose copies for the smaller name games like eiyuden chronicles, mega man battlenetwork collection (this is why amazon tends to suck even more than brick and mortar stores for the past few years.....even if you pre-order games from them, with these smaller games they a lot of times don't even ship these shits out until days, or in mega man battle network's case like 2 weeks later for a lot of it's buyers), your standard falcom/NIS game, etc. in this day and age.

Digital sales is the majority now in a lot of places so brick and mortar stores is only going to order enough copies for their pre-orders and maybe like, 1 or 2 loose copies if you are lucky for those games like one piece pirate warriors 4. (My brother busted his ass something serious to find a physical for this one on release for the switch).

*Of course you rarely have to worry about a lack of copies for your standard ubisoft release, sports game, whatever is the latest AAA flavor of the month etc.*

I already know I wanted a disc for both shin megami tensei 5 vengeance and that other game atlus is putting out, so I put my orders in. Both of those aren't going to have loose copies anywhere in-store down my way for sure.

This has been a very skippable generation. At least it isn't as bad as the Switch.
You know what though?.........I tend to look at the positives when it comes to older consoles, or the more under powered ones like switch sticking around for this long.

Sure, there isn't nowhere near the amount of those "graphical set-piece" like games that is all the rage like they were throughout the previous generations. Those "must have" games that makes people want to buy the newest thing like right the hell now to play this very talked about game.

But....

Game budgets have been getting out of hand for awhile now. Companies put so much money into these type of AAA blockbusters that even if they still sell well on paper they won't make the budget back. It is time this kind of thing is dialed back a bit, and can be seen as a good thing that many releases are still shared with the PS4, xbox one, and/or the switch. Having these old consoles around this long helps recoup costs, and another thing.......bigger budget games being so expensive=risk taking with original ideas and video game concepts from "the bigger guys" (the capcoms, bandai-namcos, the activision-blizzards, etc. etc.) becomes that much rarer. It can get boring at times when the companies with the most money just constantly want to play it safe. Usually we have to depend on indie games for the most originality these days, but it wouldn't hurt to get some of these bigger guys out of their comfort zone and take risks too like they did in the past. (Seriously, something like viewtiful joe probably wouldn't have been attempted in the modern day like it was on the gamecube and then PS2 back then. PS1 games were known to be pretty cheap to make, and so that console hada game library by the ass-load).

It also works out for performance reasons.....older consoles being around=better performance for the PS5/xbox series X and S gamers and easier to reach benchmarks for the PC gamers. Older console users still get to play majority of the latest games since they deal with the performance they get and just like being able to play the recent talked about game in general, those using the latest gen consoles can get the smoother performance and prettier looking light beams. PC gamers get that much more juice out of older CPUs and GPUs since these games are meant to run on the lowest common denominator. Everyone theoretically benefits in the end, imo anyway.

Tbh don't know what a features a Pro version of the PS5 will benefit from when the software being made now isn't even close to fully taking advantage of the OG PS5.
The only way I can see a PS5 pro being a very appealing option/leaning more into "must have" territory is if 1. You just get guaranteed 4K 60fps with every single game and then certain games get patched to have 120fps options, and 2. That thing for whatever reason has a PS1+PS2+PS3 built into it, and also with the ability to download previous psp and vita purchases to play on it. Number 1 is kind of pointless at the moment because like you said the PS5 already handles the vast majority of games "good enough" as is and there isn't too many games that is pushing this hardware like that since we still got a generous amount of cross gen PS4/xbox one/switch stuff. Having a lot of 8K stuff is no time soon since even 4K isn't too widely adopted yet with consumers so thats out.....still a lot of people chilling with their old 1080p TV setups.

Number 2......that actually might have people going crazy to get their hands on one (mainly to scalp that sucker), but I doubt sony has it in them to pull this one off.

As long as the games keep coming that is all that matters to the vast majority of gamers out there.

Like you got those PC gamers that will go on and on about how consoles will become irrelevant since more games are being ported over and how PCs are capable of doing so much more so convert to PC gaming yadda yadda, or PS5/series X owners will tell you how this game must be unplayable on previous gen consoles or the switch, but nah......none of this stuff matters. It never mattered, lol. Only the available games matter, and said games will be played with 10 second load times and frequent drops to sub 20 fps as long as the game is available, lol. Better believe PS4 owners hopped on that RE4 remake because fuck it its available.

Hell I truly believe had the PS2 been getting most of the major releases (besides the sports titles it was getting for years I mean) all the way into like 2011 people would have keep gaming on that.

Since I missed part 1 for all of those I never bothered trying out the sequels as they came out) I just never played any of these assassin creed games before aside from the ones ps plus or xbox live's old games with gold gave away as one of the games of the month to download.

Do you want something like star ocean 2 where the game has a friendship and romance system between the party? (Get it high enough and characters will yell out the name of someone they like who fell in combat and get a power boost).

Or more like a tales of xillia 1 and 2 thing where the major mechanic is linking with a party member to do double team attacks?

There is this indie rpg I bought sometime last year when it released called eternights. Has a system where you get to know your party members and eventually get to hold hands. Eventually you learn double team attacks with them. Never actually finished though, but I remember thinking the little bit I played was ok. This game here:

Idk about others, but for me, the problem there is the money. The cost is pretty high, and I wouldnt have enough for it Which is why I currently dont have a working one (or gaming laptop, which would be far more useful for me)
Its both that (well, I could swing for more expensive PC if I truly wanted to, but I genuinely do not want to. I rather put that kind of money into a nice TV, which I did. That and car maintenance, lol), and "doing far more than what any consoles can do" is pretty irrelevant to the vast majority of gamers out there.....at the end of the day, its as simple as just wanting to play the newest releases. Its the reason we still have so many PS4 and xbox one gamers out there since PS4 ports of the newest games still have yet to truly dry up yet. *Its getting there bit by bit with newer games not being released on previous gen consoles, but godspeed to those hanging on to that PS4 or xbox one for 11 years now.*

I have a PC that is decent enough with playing video games myself, but I honestly haven't bothered with modding anything in years at this point. I do occasionally fire up a emulator for some classic gaming, but the playtime for older games is nowhere near the amount I am playing more recent releases on the PS5 and switch.

*To tell you the truth, 95 percent of the time I'm on my PC like right now I am browsing the net and reading articles, posting here, playing crime videos while I am eating or having music playing in the background while I am on the TV doing something else. The other 5 is playing a indie game on steam. Thankfully these kind of games actually doesn't require much investment to run*

More power to the people who heavily invest in a gaming PC for sure, but for someone like me I'm completely satisfied buying my 1 or 2 gameboxes 500 something and using that for the next 6 or 7 years, gameboxes I know for sure will run every single game or rarely have to deal with shitty ports like the PC has to deal with at times. (I have a series X thanks to my bro hooking me up with it, but since I have it it'll be the thing I'll use whenever that once in a blue moon xbox console exclusive game pops up). My older PC and steam deck are nice options to have to catch those steam games that isn't ported anywhere else, and I am completely satisfied leaving it at that.

You never know.....its happened with games like hogwarts legacy, that one launch game on PS5 where I am brain-farting the name right now and tormented souls, so its definitely not impossible I think.

Give me the ability to level up with passive skill grinding.

Only reason I say that is because my youtube algorithm has been really piling on the manwha recaps lately, and so many of this stuff has that busted "get skill cards/level up passives IRL and eventually you become god to pwn the bullies".

Not that roughtop swordmaster nuttiness that is a little too goofy/creator definitely has some pent-up rage.

I may laugh at star ocean 4's main story a lot, but I legit do appreciate it for being that one star ocean game where you go from planet to planet a lot and having a ro-bro for a party member. I also liked how the main party hang out spot was your ship, and being able to room with whoever........or basically just reimi.

Bah, lol.

REmake aged like fine wine dammit. You know what though?.....I usually tell those who complain about final fantasy 7 remake that the OG game will always be there for them because of how much I enjoy FF7 remake+rebirth, and so I can't be a hypocrite with this one.

Bring it on RE1 re-remake.....I'll probably hate you, but its going to be a remake not meant for me and I accept that.

My PS5 play time is more than everything else I own combined. (Which is basically everything at this point).

I haven't played the hell out of a game like FF7 rebirth in a very long time. *Since persona 5 and monster hunter world to be honest).

Its been very worth it if you don't give a shit about PC gaming like me.

(I do own both a steam deck and a desktop PC, but the desktop when it comes to video game purposes is only really used for the few times in a year I feel like booting up some emulators for oldschool gaming and playing indies. Steam deck is also for mainly indies).

Tales of destiny PS2's battle system is a whole different thing compared to it's original PS1 version, which aged pretty poorly since that and tales of phantasia snes were the only 2 tales of games in existence at the time. The only thing that is similar between the two is that its action based in where you can move your character around, but it ends there when it comes to the mechanics/how everything works and all that.

*Now I am starting to imagine if tales of destiny PS2 were to be a modern release just how bad a vocal minority of tales of fans would legit complain about it being different from destiny PS1's more basic battle system, lol*

if true, I wonder if there's no BC for the Switch 2
Man, if this happens to come to pass god damn I cannot imagine the rage from all those people who opted to get switch versions of games from places like limited run games or strictly limited. That and all the indie support with switch versions tending to sell really well in general. (The idea being that whatever nintendo's successor is would no doubt be BC with how succesful the switch was....

.....which imo nintendo never was all that trustworthy when it comes to supporting BC and is usually a toss-up. There has been those times when nintendo was good for it, but also those times when nintendo is all like lul now buy super metroid for the 3rd time. You just never know, lol).

I took me way too long to figure out that one card carnival puzzle.

I didn't realize you can level up the card space even if a card gets destroyed, so I sat there wandering what the hell for like 40 minutes before the lightbulb in my noggin cut on.

The first mini-game that actually had me stuck for a bit. I liked that pirate shooting gallery one right before this one.

It aired on different channels for france, australia, the UK, japan etc., but it was in that general time frame.
