Yeah so as far as the characters go Amarant comes in pretty late and also doesn't add much to the story. just kind of like a stereotypical badass who sticks by the party even though they're wussies and beneath him, Quina is hilarious at times but he/she/it(the game IS ambiguous about it) doesn't really serve much of a purpose to the story, and yeah Freya could have been way cooler in the story.

I use speed up in games where it is an option because I like a challenge but time is what gets me. I don't mind the challenge of chocograph hunting, but the damn bird pecks way too slowly for my liking. Or even basic shit like getting in the airship. air travel is soooo slow(but, obviously quicker than before you have vehicles), but then finding a good landing spot you need to take off the speed or else you'll never land where you want. Give and take but yeah I use it a lot.

perhaps since around when it came out. So, this was a sorta new experience in a way. I am at the final dungeon and i've done just about everything worth doing as far as sidequests.

The story at least so far isn't all that memorable. You spend too long in this game not really knowing shit aside from "kuja bad" until way later on. I guess a lot of JRPGs or FFs kinda have this happen.

The characters aren't super memorable for me, either.

However this game has a lot of attention to detail and other fan stuff in it. I love the moogle mail concept and a lot of the attention to details they have like how the world map moogle gets pissed if you call him and don't need him and the various things hinted at when talking to the smart moogle in the Q's marshes.

The world setting is neat. Feel like a mix of steampunk/medieval and it's neat.

What I really liked is how this game is chock full of fun and worthwhile sidequests, though part of that is PC has the speed up function, I imagine choco graph hunting at regular speed would be grueling to get through. But the sidequests are neat. Trivia question guy and the friendly monster sidequests were cool, and the friendly monster one has the added bonus of making one of the superbosses much easier, which leads me to....

I like Ozma a lot. They don't have 5,000,000,000,000 HP, only around 60K, but the AI is actually semi smart in this so even though he has low HP for a superboss, it was really fun trying to take him down.

Frog catching was kinda fun until I got to the end and depleted the marshes so I had to wait a bit to get the last few, but it was unique and I liked it.

Card game isn't as fun as FF8s, but it's still kinda cool.

Overall my impression is the story is meh, characters are alright, but the attention to detail and sidequests are really, really fun, and a lot of them are actually worth the effort.

I know the actual final boss is kinda whack because it's just a random thing who isn't actually Kuja as I remember. Weird, but seeing as FF8s final boss was kinda stupid(though we did know they'd be the final boss in the last 10% of the game) it's...okay.

I don't know why I never went back and replayed this one but I have played 7 and 8 20 times each is probably because once the PS2 game out, the leap in graphics was actually massive, so I kinda soured on PS1 which was a dumb move, but that could explain why I never went back. I had beaten 7 and 8 a couple of times by then, so they stuck.

Screamo is a genre I like a lot, and the neat thing is you can go as deep as you want to go.

I found this band the other day. This song is only one minute, but it blew me away.

And as usual the lyrics for these types of songs are also a bit deeper than you'd expect, because the vocals are incomprehensible and the song is so fast they can get a lot out

I guess it isn't any surprise to see a guy like Dr. Oz become a republican candidate, but yeah it is weird. Living in PA it felt weird because I had no idea what ties this guy had to do with PA outside of graduating from a PA university(one of several places he got a degree from).

He actually did destroy Fetterman in the one debate post stroke in a way because he could speak fairly coherently and Fetterman struggled hard. But that's just brain salad post stroke, the guy is still intelligent on the inside. And even though people thought that debate was a turning point for Oz, it wasn't. The race wasn't super close either, Fetterman won by 300,000 votes.

edit: though some people(including his voters) have beef with Fetterman now over isreal/hamas but this isn't about that. Just about how an obviously bad candidate lost to a person who, against a non lizard shapeshifter, would have perhaps lost.

It's neat we're talking about which fantasy land we'd prefer to live in because what drew me to this style of photography is how things look really otherworldly. a simple google search for infrared photography will yield a lot of results, many that look way crazier with the colors than these here.

https://webneel.com/30-beautiful-examples-infrared-photography-best-photographs-you

I am not even sure how a lot of these looks are achieved unless its a decent amount of PS or lightroom work. My experiences with a camera with an IR filter and now a camera that only shoots in infrared are kinda trial and error, and unless I convert the reds to blues and blues to reds I generally don't do any other work after the fact.

I was a little disheartened in the winter after getting this camera, but snow and sloggy grass patches do not turn up well when you shoot with infrared. These things turn some shade of pink but it doesn't look otherworldly or even pleasant. But now that the grass is a vibrant green things are looking good.

https://imgur.com/ysIEPH1

And I figured I would see what happens when I switch the red and blue channels, it looks like it's a fairly normal sunny yet snowy day almost. Kinda neat.

I am excited to see what else I can do but first results in good weather with decent foliage turned out pretty good.

It depends on what the situation is. I had a co worker who I would lend small amounts of money, usually 50 or less on a semi regular basis. I got paid back asap though. I didn't ask for interest because it's a silly concept, to me, in regards to personal loans like this.

I also paid a coworkers cell phone bill, which was about 50 bucks, and it took like 4 months, but I got paid back also(I figured if I didn't get paid back I wouldn't do it again but I wouldn't be upset. Family with one kid and another coming, it wouldn't be the end of the world if I had to eat the cost)

If it's all the time I would wonder why we're in that situation and try to see if there are ways we can avoid it. I do think after some time I would get annoyed, but it depends on who it is and how much and some other things to day definitively.

If I am remembering correctly it suffered from a phenomenon I've seen in more recent star wars movies and maybe more sci fi or fantasy if I watched it.

When they constantly go to planets and find the person or thing in minutes. These planets are hollow and I can't remember the name of any of them, except Jakku, because it was essentially a Tatooine clone. They go from planet to planet and spend seemingly minutes there. I think in the one star wars movie they had a timer scene where they have like 45 minutes to get to one planet and do something. Like, what in the fuck is this? I know it's fantasy, but even so it just seems silly. Constantly hopping between planets all willy nilly and whatever they have to do there is always just convenient(the entire planet but they can spot the exact individual they need as quick as possible).

2013 edition. This feat entails winning seven competitions, and they are:

Community Shield (EPL winner vs FA Cup winner. Since I was both last year, the previous runner up in the Premier Leauge gets in. Not really important, but a trophy none-the-less)

European Cup Winners Cup (Champions League winner vs UEFA Europa League. Not too important)

FIFA Club World Championship (winners of all confederations champions leagues. this is considered a joke as teams from the football rich Tahiti and Vanuatu have qualified in the past)

English Football League Cup (Available to all clubs in the first four tiers of the English football Pyramid. semi-important, nice to have)

FA Cup Available to all clubs in the first nine tiers of the English Football Pyramid. (Pretty important.)

English Premier League (Top flight of English football. Extremely important)

European Champions League (Winners of all European top flight leagues, with the most talented leagues getting spots for their second, third and possibly fourth teams in top flight. The most prestigious competition a football club can win in Europe)

If I could have qualified for the far inferior Euro Cup I'd have 8, but I kinda couldn't.

A septuple!!! So rare of a feat my spellchecker couldn't believe it's eyes.

I've been close in the past but every year something kinda came up to prevent me from 1-2 of those. My main striker also led the Premier League in goals, which was another thing i hadn't done.

Just about the only thing left to do is go undefeated in the league. I went 30-6-2, with the two losses to Newcastle(who also made me visible last year as well) 1-0 and 2-0 to Manchester United in the last game of the season when I was playing several promising youngsters because I had already won the league on the final day.

In all the thousands of hours I've put into this game, I have never actually seriously managed a team in the English Premier League, opting for lower league shenanigans, but this was fun!

That may be a fair assessment. Starting pitching needs to step it up this year and Henry Davis needs to break out, but the pieces are in place or getting there.

I know if you've been bad for so long(outside of 2013-15 and in 2018 they went like 83-79) people will not be too enthusiastic about it, but people who haven't paid attention since 1992 still need to give their opinions. We're a small market team that will never give out trillion dollar contracts like the Yankees and Dodgers, but in 2024 people still want to shout out that Nutting doesn't spend money. That is blatantly false the past two years.

Pitt Pirates might actually be a wagon this year. That'd be refreshing. Sick of the same Dodgers/Braves/Phillies/Giants mix. Though I do enjoy watching Giants. Really just sick of the dodgers tbh.

People are sleeping on the Pirates because of how bad they have been since 1992, but we have real potential here in a serious way. This isn't even a case of looking at your usual mediocre roster and just expecting blood from a stone. There is real talent here. If the starting pitching improves above expectations, then we'd have all sides of the game covered pretty well(fielding, batting, pitching)

They're 3-0, but this early it means nothing.

This interaction took the cake.

Last week a guy with a long red beard came in and bought some mini bottles of salted caramel moonshine. I've seen him before, and thought nothing of it. Out of the corner of my eye I swear I saw him open it and drink it outside my store but in the view of my window by the public garbage can. Okay, noted. Guy comes in the next day and same thing happens. So, I tell my crew if we see him come in again I am going to stand outside by the garbage can in hopes my mere presence will encourage good or at least not blatantly illegal habits.

Today I am in the office, and I hear a voice ask for salted caramel moonshine minis. I stand up, in full view of the customer and walk outside and wait by the garbage can. Not right next to it but close enough, and I was watching. Guy walk outside, goes to the garbage can and fiddles with something, opens a mini, drinks it and throws it in the can. I mention that I can't be having this kind of thing happen in front of my building. He goes "huh?" and I repeat myself, I cannot have this happen in front of my building, or else I might have to not serve somebody if it keeps up. He didn't say anything but he looked mad, and walked away.

15 minutes later the guy comes back inside asking for another moonshine mini. I see him and I tell him we are not serving him, as he just had one outside. He proceeds to argue about my sign(on the door, it says if you are visibly intoxicated we will refuse service) and what visibly intoxicated is. I tell him he just drank one a little bit ago and I saw it, that is enough. Visibly intoxicated in this case means we visibly saw him drink it just a few minutes ago. He then gives me the middle finger and walks out saying he won't be back. I hope he doesn't come back. I know I certainly didn't do anything wrong and in fact if anything I was being too nice, actually giving him more than one opportunity to correct his behavior before I said anything.

I don't have problem customers at my store, this man being one of the first. I am not really sure what motive he had for coming back, because since I saw you drink one of the minis 15 minutes ago(breaking multiple laws) that is an argument you will lose every time.

In retail when they say they won't be back, they often are. I do hope he doesn't. And to think, all he had to do was go outside of the view of my store's window, as in 30 feet in either direction, down the mini and I wouldn't know, and I am not really supposed to action on things I merely suspect or have not personally seen with my own two eyes.

I took a photo a few years back of the back of a US five dollar bill with my camera with an infrared filter attached at the end. The purple five disappeared, as we can see below

https://imgur.com/a/gSRXdNF

Now, I posted this online a few days ago somewhere because I thought it was interesting. I figured other people would, too. Some people may have been intrigued, but a lot of the comments were basically telling me this was basic color theory and not all that different from children's spy glasses. That didn't sit right with me, but I couldn't explain it, because I am no expert in any of this.

So this evening I took an image of a five with a different camera - one that has been converted for infrared photography - no filter. The five was purple in that image, but then, after discussing with a friend, it hit me. The image I took way back when was outside in sunlight. I could take a photo in similar conditions tomorrow with my new camera and I suspect it would behave similarly but my friend came up with an idea that worked exactly as he theorized.

I went into my laundry room, positioned my camera, the bill and two two remote controls(for their infrared light). I shut the lights off and took a long exposure clicking the remotes to introduce only infrared light(or as good I could get without being in an actual dark room), and here we go:

https://imgur.com/rS7J4pv

the five disappears but also two white strips appear. This was expected, but I have never been able to see this until now. Every denomination 5 and higher has these strips, too(but I don't think any have a purple 5 that disappears) so I'll be able to get images of those also.

And lastly, I took a photo of a fake five dollar bill I have to see how it doesn't appear any different:

https://imgur.com/OQjwgSu

Anyways, this was actually a kind of fun experiment but I am glad it worked exactly as my friend thought it might. I can also stop going crazy now because I have exactly the answer I was looking for but didn't know enough about to say.

Hot damn! Some day soon i'll image all of the notes with this method and we'll see!
