| BlueCrystalTear 08/27/25 11:13:35 PM #374 | Man, this season just isn't clicking with me. Watching this group has been rough. And yes, that includes Lauren. I still adore her as a person, but she's not as good of a player as the edit makes it seem. Morgan is obsessed with getting her out (Morgan annoys me - and Vince - accordingly), and apparently (feeds spoilers) I haven't really kept up with the episodes but Mickey is still obnoxious with her HoHitis. She thinks she's running shit still to a point that even Morgan and Ashley want nothing to do with her strategically. Mickey doesn't actually have any friends and was set to be a unanimous boot until she won Veto. Also Rylie sucks and didn't do exit press because he sucks. Wimp couldn't deal with the inevitable questions about violating Katherine's boundaries. There's a reason that "showmance" was hardly in the edit - Katherine made it very clear to him that she takes six months before she even decides she likes somebody, while he just wanted to elope with her ASAP and start making babies. She felt trapped by the game and didn't want to reject him because she knew he'd throw a childish tantrum where "fuck" was every third word out of his mouth. And she couldn't hide without production removing him... and losing that shield would've been bad for her. She also was taken by his charm to some extent, but she also played it up for production. (It would not surprise me if jury started tomorrow since, with Katherine on the block, BB might want to protect her from Rylie stalking her. Another month of cooldown time should help.) It pains me to say that Rachel is the most interesting thing about this season, since I hate the lone returnee twist, but... I gotta wonder how dull this season would be without her. Maybe it would be better, akin to what darkx said about BB24 othering Taylor being the center of the storyline, but maybe it would be the most boring season ever. I'm leaning toward the latter, though. This cast just isn't clicking. We're not seeing much about them as people and the gameplay has been pretty weird. Also, Rachel didn't get put up because Morgan did her math with M&Ms (as she does) with Vince and they thought they didn't have the votes to get her out. Plus, she might still win BlockBuster, and they didn't want to deal with the wrath of Rachel. You take a shot at her, you can't miss - and that's about the only thing they have right about her style of gameplay. For some reason they think she's some kind of master manipulator like Dr. Will LOL (I think the only one who remembers her seasons is... Lauren? Nobody seems to have any clue how to make decisions, who to tell what, how to keep secrets, how to leverage power to make deals, what you should do with your HoH... the list goes on. Rachel only knows some of this from experience but she's being paraded around like a mascot since the group wants this to be THEIR season. And yet... it's really not. I'm still rooting for Lauren because I'd never betray an immediate favorite of mine, but she's frustrated me with her wishy-washy decision-making (this is why Morgan wants her out). Everybody else has also frustrated me as a player and/or as a person (Mickey being the most guilty of the latter). It gives her a piece of information with much less of an implied threat, and also passes the buck to somebody else that Lauren thinks Rachel's tight with. We might've had a very different week if Rachel had known how to approach Lauren properly. Nonetheless, I'm glad that creep got evicted, though. (I haven't watched it yet, and probably won't. The second means that the degree is absolutely worthless for any purpose, in or out of that field of study. At first thought, you remove Taylor and you think it becomes terrible, but then again, without Taylor, a lot of people's terrible sides aren't exposed because they aren't treating Taylor like crap.This made for a potentially compelling narrative, but the Big Brother format is too long to be conducive to this story. It would work better over 14 episodes like Survivor has. I don't know where the intrigue is without Taylor, though. The rest of the TAR cast is pretty much what I'd expect, though I was anticipating someone who hadn't competed in the last decade. A deep cut from the old days. I'm still not gonna watch. This kind of thing does not lure me back in. Even with Tucker and Angela there (they made last year so great), you gotta remember that those who are dynamic personalities on Big Brother might not have the same effect on another show. BB and TAR are very different shows in very different environments, so I doubt Tucker can find opportunity to troll everybody. You've said you've heard it went really poorly though and may result in the show's cancelation. I think that part hinges on how well this new country music tour show does. Also, Rachel is always whiny. It just makes more sense this time because of how little traction they're allowing her to get. That going on for long enough would make anyone whiny. Rachel fighting with Morgan was a pretty stupid move for her, since Morgan has a lot of connections that Rachel does not. Rachel's unwarranted cockiness, however... that's making her a fair amount of enemies, and not just Morgan. Do gotta say, Vinny's costume is something else. He can't get up or down without somebody helping him. Keanu's is humorous, too, but his stint is typical fare. It's made feeds interesting. Rachel and Zach's thing was not on feeds because production sucks. Also, and this is minor feeds spoilers so I'm tagging it... On another note... I am really not feeling this season at this point tbh. There was that wild period from Rylie being dethroned through the two hours after Jimmy being nominated, but aside from that this cast is just not clicking. And that may be why they brought Rachel in: They knew she'd stir shit, and that they needed somebody to. But she's more subdued in doing so since she fears this group would evict her for burning the place down, so she's gonna wait until she wins HoH. That may not happen, though. This whole thing may be the case of Grodner wanting to "spice things up" and having the exact opposite effect - because someone who stands out is there, nobody in this group wants to stand out even more, else they will be in the crosshairs next. Really wish they'd have found someone like Tucker or Angela last season who was there to be entertaining. John Belushi Will Ferrell Norm Macdonald Tina Fey I had to include one OG, one who became a superstar after SNL, at least one woman, and a personal favorite. Honorable mentions would be Phil Hartman, Dana Carvey, Amy Poehler, Bill Murray, and Dan Aykroyd. I chose to exclude Sandler and Farley because, while they were great, they also almost got the show canceled, and that led to the 1995 exodus. --- Help control the pet population. | BlueCrystalTear 08/10/25 9:49:52 PM #309 | I really don't like how Rachel "wants to show these people how to play Big Brother" - when she's essentially being shut out of any and all major alliances and being largely ignored strategically. It's this cast's way of saying "This ain't your season, it's ours" to her, and it's pretty great tbh. She's showing that she's a fraud since she hasn't found an in. She hasn't been able to influence anybody and, even when on the bottom, a good player can at least get something to stick to improve their position. Amy and Jimmy were evicted because of their proximity to Rachel, so literally nobody wants to be next in that sequence. That's why Ava is listening to Mickey and Will before Rachel. Ava doesn't want to be on her way out next because that's what happens to Rachel's allies. It's sorta like what Savai'i did to Ozzy in South Pacific - they voted out his cuddle buddies and forced him to win challenges for them. And this was optimal because Redemption Island was in play and the absolute LAST thing Jim Rice wanted was a pissed-off Ozzy going on a tear there. Rachel is much the same way here. They want her to be delusional enough to think she actually has sway when she does not. And I don't think anyone outright hates her - they just hate the fact that she's there, and they don't want a legend overshadowing what was supposed to be THEIR season. Ergo, anyone who Rachel has a public F2 with has gotta go. So bye, Amy. Bye, Jimmy. Bye anyone else who does that! (Ashley might be next tbh.) There's a reason that even Lauren, who was fangirling the hardest when Rachel showed up, has a very minimal relationship with her. So Rachel's cockiness is just bizarre to me. She's done literally nothing this season to improve her position. And she's just mad that these people aren't playing the game for HER - it's the old Ciera Eastin "Make a move!" speech without explaining why such a move would benefit somebody else. She thinks these people are idiots for not doing the best move for HER game, when that's a downright stupid thing to say. And the way she comes across is devoid of self-awareness that I thought she had by now. That said, and this is pretty great, the cast has pretty much agreed that they want Rachel to be Mayor of Ponderosa again. Rachel has said that she'll refuse to go to the jury house - it's either she goes pre-jury or makes F4, with no in between. I'm all on board for this outcome. If they evict her - tequila, vomit, hair extensions, and all - and she quits the jury, I'm looking forward to seeing the fandom meltdown. --- Help control the pet population. The absolute worst thing you can do as HoH is make yourself the next target, and that's why Mickey got creative. She just chose someone who she had the wrong read on, a wrong read that's completely understandable due to her not being told important information. Jimmy didn't entrust her with the truth and she found out secondhand that he was making deals she didn't know about. If you watch the feeds, the move makes more sense. Rachel made herself an even bigger target. There will be loads of drama. As for Mickey putting Jimmy up, I'm not sure what alternatives existed that would have been reasonable. Jimmy had not told her about the fake alliance, and Keanu verified that Jimmy had been lying when he said Keanu had been gunning for Mickey and Morgan. The only other reasonable nomination would have been Ava. Putting up Kat would have been suicide, because the house already didn't like her nominating Rylie the week he had won HoH. Putting his girl next to him would have made enemies with everyone, and Jimmy wouldn't have wanted that association. With Vince, it was a matter of not having the votes, and thus she'd have used the opportunity to only make herself a larger target. Doing Lauren instead would have made enemies with the same influential people (namely Zach and Vince) but accomplished absolutely nothing for Mickey. If Vince is an option, that makes more sense than Lauren. And with Zach, Lauren, Ava, Morgan, and Rylie/Kelley all voting to keep Vince, and likely two of Will, Ashley, Jimmy, and Kat as well depending on final noms, the odds weren't good with that. Some of them simply see Vince as a big target to use as a shield, especially now that he's out in the open. She wasn't going to put up allies like Will, Rachel, Ashley, or Zach (who told her to use her power, remember). And Morgan is her right hand woman. So, with Rylie and Kelley already on the block and Keanu safe, the only choice that doesn't give blowback is Ava. And Mickey wasn't about to let Ava go home against Rylie, since that would have been a bigger nothing of an HoH than Lauren had. As we saw, Ava was firmly in the "What is going on?" camp and has no idea who is with who anymore. So Mickey took a shot that wouldn't miss and could potentially make new friends at the expense of an old one who was sketching her out anyway. --- Help control the pet population.
