The type of trial depends on the relief the plaintiff seeks. In the case of the NY civil fraud trial, the NY AG wanted a disgorgement of ill-gotten gains of $250,000,000 originally and that amount grew to about $355,000,000 once all the facts were laid on the table toward the end of the trial. From what I've seen, a lot of companies just flat out ignore the "back end" cost of recruiting/hiring/training. At my last job, I was working 60 - 80 hours/week. They refused to hire any help and I was the only one who understood the network at all. They ended up bringing on a contractor to help me out, but they said he wasn't allowed to have access to the existing network at all because he was just a contractor. I told them that was dumb, but they didn't want to budge. Because I was working so much, I asked them for a $15k raise. They only gave me a $5k raise. So I quit. Then when I quit, they wanted me to set aside my whole 2nd to last day to teach him how the network is set up. That's not the kind of thing you can learn in a day and we ended up having to drop everything at 10am because of an outage. They have about 3 network engineers now, but they've been churning through people. I'm glad I left. Okay, thanks. If I remember correctly, there was an investigation going on in 2017/2018 (I might have the years wrong), but then the DA refused to move forward with charges. This caused a number of prosecutors from that office to resign. Jeffrey Clark needs to be disbarred, too. He was an environmental lawyer in the DoJ int he Trump administration, but was actually briefly moved up to acting US AG. Trump backed off of that because other people in the DoJ said there would be mass resignations if Jeffrey Clark was actually going to be AG. His bar disciplinary trial started recently. Yesterday, he took the stand for a bit and refused to answer questions either with the 5th amendment, executive privilege, or other various "privileges." At one point, after he asserted attorney-client privilege, he was asked who his client was. He answered that his client was Donald Trump, even though he never had an attorney-client relationship with Donald Trump. As a DoJ environmental lawyer, his client is actually the people of the United States. This got his lawyers to panic a bit and remind him that he needs to just plead the 5th.
