Breaking out of the friendzone shouldnt be to get laid once. Its only really worth the effort is you like, potentially want to marry that person. Its that much of a commitment to break it.

Precisely. It is no coincidence that Cena is ALWAYS in the main event, to the point where even Orton has been crowded out for the last couple years.

They need new stars, and that means pushing the right people. Right now they seem to only really want to push people with low ceilings. Punk was a complete accident and the roof for he and Bryan is kinda low for different reasons.

They do have a few "Sky's the limit" guys coming up though, like Richie, Antonio and (with the right push) Brad Maddox.

That segment was good? Slater was the only good part and he was basically crapping on it too.

Also I guess I'm the only one who doesn't like the AJ thing? To me she feels like... a poseur, I guess? A tryhard? I'm not buying this crazy character from her-- and I'm a man who loves his crazy characters. In fact this may be the only crazy woman gimmick I haven't fawned over ever. Also making Kane look stupid harkening back to his late 90s run where he was basically a giant gorilla.

Anyway yeah Raw was terrible. Time to take another few week hiatus and see if it improves next time.


As a lifelong lover of crazy people in wrestling, I think we're just so starved for one that isnt Orton or Kane, that its just exciting.

Yeah, the days of people slowly climbing their way up from jobber status seem to be largely behind us. Most debuts these days come in out of nowhere with huge backstories already intact (Sin Cara). Whos the last jobber turned regular we've even had? Zack Ryder?
Yeah Ryder would be the most recent, but the other homegrowns, like Dolph Ziggler did much the same.

Nexus/NXT kind of throws a wrench in things for the most recent batch of homegrowns like Slater, but same difference really.

I feel like "ultimate opportunist edge" is a good example of someone who didn't really necessarily care about competing and being the best legitimately. He seemed to get off on outsmarting his opponents to take their titles away from them through nefarious means. Like, I feel like to him, a sneaky underhanded win was MORE satisfying than legitimately beating down his opponent.
I would agree, but I would also say hes the exception that proves the rule, kind of like Eddie Guerrero being a face while cheating to win, proves faces who arent him shouldnt ever do it.

The arrogant heel and Edge are different characters.

Do they? It feels like in the WWE, debuts are heel as often as not, and they're usually treated like their current character is what they've always been in anything they've done in the past. Why does Alberto Del Rio come to the WWE if he doesn't want to compete, when in kayfabe he's by far rich enough to never have to put effort into anything?
Yeah most of the heel BELIEVE they are the best period. They essentially believe that given a chance they will be reign of terror Jeff Jarrett or Triple H. They all TRY to compete legitimately, but cheat to win if they have to. Cheating from the outset however is something only someone who wouldve never had the skill to get into contention in the first place would be willing to do. After all most WWE heels are presented at great practicioners with a high level of skill for a normal person, while the main event WWE faces are presented as supermen, so good that even the highly talented have trouble.

Orton is actually a great example of this, when feuding with Cena he was essentially just "the best who isnt Cena" for sure, and it wasnt until he was turned face that his psychosis became a superpower.

I'm not at all against the Tag Division getting time. This is really one of the smaller nitpicks about the PPV, but it's still backwards.

Have that match ON RAW, and then have the TITLE defense on PPV. OMG MAGIC.

Yes I know Truth is out but you gotta get the belts off them somehow. If it's PTP vs. Kofi in a handicap or Kofi/Ryder or whoever it still works out perfectly.
This is the thing that bugged me more than anything. This was just so clearly something they came up with on like Friday and put on the PPV.

- Pushing Punk's accomplishments since winning the WWE Title and the historical length of his reign HARD
- Completely turning on Big Johnny once Vince fired him. Someone in the chat said that was Heenan-esque and they're totally right.

As opposed to Booker who tried to get over the idea that being punched in the body by Big Show is worse than being punched in the face.
Yeah cole is beginning to be able to balance being both halves of the announce team quite well to make up for the lack of talent surrounding him.

I garuntee TNA has James Storm as the planned winner, with backup winner A being Kurt Angle in case of Storm getting injured or not getting over.

I think backup winner B and C are in case Roode gets injured and they need him to drop the title to Aries or (god forbid) Sting in the meantime before the series ends, and I am gonna go with B as Bully Ray and C as Joe. I think backup winner D is in case all sorts of things go wrong, you cant go wrong putting the strap on AJ Styles.

I think the planned final Four is Storm, Hardy, Joe, and Bully Ray.

Regardless, if I can run through this kind of thing in 5 minutes, TNAs staff has probably run through tons of permutations by now.
