From: Ed Bellis | #419 I guess I'm the only one that isn't really finding this funny. I like exposition and all but I feel like I'm getting bogged down in backstory that isn't really that clever or entertaining. It was fine at first, but now it's overstayed its welcome for me.
I think it's funny, but not really in a "hilarious" kind of way. It's just something about the way Dirk's matter-of-fact delivery about this absolutely PREPOSTEROUS chain of events and Jake's unquestioning acceptance of said events that has me hanging on every word.
I wasn't liking that we were entering yet another info dump (Act 6 has had far too many of those already IMO), but at least this one is entertaining.
I am wondering what's going to happen when it ends, though, since this is a dream bubble and all. Even though I almost forgot about that.
From: VincentLauw | #047 That I don't like (strongly dislike even) onions chopped and put in food?
How is that such a hard thing to grasp
Oh I see, you were complaining about how these topics ignore an argument that in this case hadn't even been made yet. OK then.
Never really perceived them as having a particularly offensive texture. Not too different from lettuce in salad, and it doesn't ruin spaghetti sauce for me just like meat doesn't ruin it.
And texture is something that I AM picky about. Water chestnuts in noodles and peanuts in chocolate are things I can't stand.
But onions are still good when chopped and put in food. Unless it's some weird non-complementary food that had onions thrown at it randomly, in which case you're probably just eating bad food. So I guess I don't get what you're complaining about.
TT: For centuries thereafter, survivors of the Hilarocaust would cite the rooftop showdown as one of the most heroic moments in human history.
I remember back when all the trolls were dying off, or there was some other death, we were talking about how even when he was killing off his characters, the comic was still hilarious in a way. Anyways, someone in one of these topics said "Andrew Hussie could make the Holocaust funny."
Onions are amazing as a topping. Obviously just eating straight onions would be bad but they are usually a great complement and/or cooked to deliciousness.
Although if your hate of onion rings prevents you from eating onion rings then I just feel sorry for you.
My used copy of the game was damaged slightly in a way where right after the searching mission, the game would freeze before the next cutscene could play.
I did it over and over and over trying to get it to work.
I play games really slowly though, especially JRPGs. I just got my sixth party member at ~25 hours or so, and I don't think it's supposed to take nearly that long to get to that point. <_<
I'm not sure if I'll do sidequests since I'm not sure if I'll replay the game, but I'm sure I've missed a bunch already.
Story: Abyss > Phantasia > Eternia > Symphonia > Legendia > Vesperia Characters: V > A > S > L > P > E Gameplay: V > A > S = E > L >>> P
Vesperia's story wasn't bad, just EXTREMELY boring and bland. However, the characters being soooo good made it work.
Haven't finished Graces yet, although I'm ~30 hours in and I'm not even sure if I'm 1/3 of the way through the game yet. The characters are growing on me, but I'm not very sold on the dialogue. It just seems more cheesy than usual (although I loved how corny Symphonia was so I dunno) and the skits are very hit-or-miss.
Gameplay is absolutely fantastic though, if that's what you want from the games.
I chalked it up to him distroying a town and causing the deaths of a few thousand people being a sobering experience. I mean the party was telling him he was an awful person and then he looks at himself after Akzerieth and goes "holy crap they're right." Then he decides he needs to change himself. Of course he takes it too far, and that's constantly pointed out to him in the game. By the time he gets to Eldrant or whatever he's become a lot more reasonable person, I thought.
So it's not very subtle but I didn't find it completely unreasonable.
TotA's plot is kind of hit or miss, though. There's plenty of people on B8 who don't like it.
From: foolm0ron | #117 Once they switch to Britta being the antagonist, the show gets exponentially better
I don't remember any episodes with Britta as the antagonist. At least, not to the same level that Annie and another character sometimes fill that role.
I don't think the Devil Summoner games ever got reprinted, unlike Nocturne and DDS. I lucked out and found both at Gamestop for $20 each, although DS1 was used and had the Gamestop case.
It's the second game in the Devil Summoner series, the original two of which were never released in America. From what I understand, the Raidou games are prequels, sort of. Dunno if it's supposed to be any good or not.
-- You have no time to ponder such questions, as Link has just grabbed a Smash Ball. http://backloggery.com/herodeltiempo/sig.gif
From: CherryCokes | #012 Has Pixar ever put out two films in a year?
I don't think so, although I think originally Cars 2 and Brave were planned for release in the same year. Not sure though.
Of course, Dia de los Muertos movie could just be 2016 and planned out waaay far in advance. The worst part about Pixar movie announcements is waiting for them to come out. :\
It would be great if they could get third-party characters that are still "linked" to Sony. Like Crash and Spyro, Solid Snake (or Big Boss), a Final Fantasy character I guess...
And of course, the ability to dominate Kratos with Paul Gale's karate moves.
It was interesting until the part where Naomi Hunter might be in it. Boooo.
.....But that aside, a game that explores the gaps in between MGS3/PoOps and Peace Walker, and Peace Walker and Metal Gear would be cool. As would straight Metal Gear remakes.
From: Icehawk | #005 it's a point and click adventure game, how it looks doesn't matter a whole lot
What? That's definitely not true.
In adventure games more than anything, visual style (not necessarily graphics) is pretty important, at least to me. Obviously writing is first and foremost, but yeah.
I still can't figure out if Hussie was cosplaying as Calmasis, UU, or the fandom's interpretation of UU. Or....all of the above, I suppose. He was wearing Calmasis's outfit, but with the troll horns and Cancer cufflinks we know UU has.
The Calmasis figure in this page also has a gun. Didn't Calmasis use a wand when we saw him? Plus those shackles.
I sincerely hope that the next flash update is a SB&HJ movovoie that explains the entire plot of Homestuck via thickly veiled, artifact laden symbolism.
From: TheRock1525 | #013 I kinda fell out of love with Axe Cop. The novelty wore off after a while.
Dr. McNinja, though? Still high quality.
Yeah I stopped loving Axe Cop after about six months and a year later it had really gone downhill. :\
Dr. McNinja is still awesome, but the difference is that Chris Hastings actually knows how to write. Where's my Dr. McNinja saturday morning cartoon???
Sadly after that episode I don't think John Oliver shows up for a while. Which is unfortunate because he really is one of the best characters on the show at times. I think they offered him a spot on the 'main' cast but he turned it down because he'd have to work less on the Daily Show or something.
Also I also really like the early episode where Abed makes his movie. The main plot is great and "SEIZE THE DAY" is just amazing.
I dunno, I just never really understood that whole theory. I wouldn't rule out them being connected in some other way, but we've already seen Lord English's origin.
From: foolm0ron | #042 Also laughing scene is very well done and powerful yet subtle, especially for a JRPG where the tendency is to have corny anime style scenes.
How is the laughing scene not corny.
You can say it's a good scene but it's still corny as hell.
LMS, I'll be honest and say I don't think it's so much your opinions (because this board deals with awful opinions on a semi-regular basis), but more the way you present them never makes any damn sense. That and the way you always seem to flaunt opinions of games you haven't played that are based solely on what other random people think.
