Yeah just think of all the movies that were ruined by "Director's Cuts" that added in cut content from the original.
Look, this has literally happened with every form of media other than video games. And it's free! Don't even have to buy the Blu-Ray to get the alternate ending or buy the sequel in which the author reveals that the main character never died at all! We don't even know if they're changing it or not. Honestly, a simple rewrite to fix the bad writing in the original could make people happy while still preserving the "artistic integrity" of the writers if that's what you're hung up on. And let's set something straight: people didn't dislike the ending just because of fan butthurt (although there is a ton of that, I'll admit). Yeah the battle system never changes and is nothing very special at all. It gets really boring after hours and hours of grinding away at it. The characters get better later on in the game but again are nothing spectacular.

There are some that don't fit very well at all and some that don't fit either character that much. Going back to Indigo Thief, no it doesn't really fit Vriska at all because it seems too calm (also it uses morse code for Serenity that is so awesome). Compare Superego, which does a good job of conveying the concept of "troubled" Vriska while still being thematically tied to her. There's also Do You Remem8er Me, but I never really felt that as a Vriska-centric song since it also was John's and had callbacks to his songs. Thing is, this isn't just a fan album, it's also designed to reflect certain themes by the creators, not just the fans. So obviously they need to make some changes to fit those themes. And I personally prefer it this way. And yet...the fans are also creators. <_< I'm not sure how involved Hussie is with the music team, but he generally doesn't use the albums as actual foreshadowing or literary tie-ins or whatever. That one's not the best feet for Jake, but it's not like there's no possible way it could have been Jake's theme. It's obviously going for a tropical island/goofy action kind of vibe. But I can do it the other way, too, there's a bunch of songs that only vaguely fit what who they're trying to represent. Does Cobalt Thief really fit Vriska? No, not really. How about Indigo Heir for Equius? Sorta??? I just don't get the point of doing a fanmade character-theme album if you switch everything around and say "yeah good enough." I'm not knocking the quality of the songs but they obviously received a lot more diverse of a selection than 50 Karkat songs.
Eh. Regardless I guess I just don't care for the album in general as much. BBS's is probably the most mashy of all of them outside of the actually difficult fights. <_< They just made it really flashy if you build your deck right.
But BBS's fusion system is pretty much bulls*** if you want any of the actual good passive abilities. And 358/2 had a battle system almost just like KH1, just with crappier controls.
