Actually from your post, the only thing you mention that I don't think gets called out specifically is about Aradia, Sollux, Rose, and Dave, and that's only because you're a little confused. They didn't die because they weren't in the game session when it reset, or our universe when it was killed. Remember, the Outer Ring, where the Green Sun is, exists outside of spacetime.

And you say you don't know what was going on with the exiles but....I mean, you pretty much got it. <_< That's exactly what happened. Jack escaped the session that was being reset, came through and slaughtered everyone, and escaped the universe that was being destroyed.

That said if you're still confused or just interested then by all means read the tumblr posts, but they aren't required reading.

You don't have to, it all gets explained in-comic.

It's an interesting read, but ultimately that reason most of that explanation was posted was because it took him somewhere from a month and a half to two months to reach the point in the comic where he could explain what happened in Cascade.

Tim Drake is easily my least favorite Robin. He always just seemed kind of there and wasn't nearly as interesting as the others imo. Then again I don't think I've read any heavily Tim-centered stories other than A Lonely Place of Dying (I think).

I'm probably just crazy though.

EDIT: And Knightfall I guess but holy crap were all the parts with Tim boring as hell. Although really that was just because Knightquest kinda sucked in general, so it's not his fault.

Teddie is most certainly NOT voice by the same dude, but I wasn't too fond of his original voice and the new one just sounds like two octaves off so I don't really care.

whaaat, Teddie's voice was awesome. also it was hilarious that the guy used the same voice for Kefka.

Rise's voice I could definitely do without though.

I just had a conversation with my girlfriend about how the first time she read Homestuck, she missed a lot of stuff. So for example, she didn't really get what was going on in WV: Ascend (EoA2) at first because she was trying just to catch up. But for me, that's where I really got hooked because there are so many little details and foreshadowing elements in there.

Anyways

It made me realize how drastically the storytelling in Homestuck has changed. Originally, the plot would be hidden in all those weird details, but they would be almost TOO subtle at times and as a result Hussie had to write a few huge recaps to make sure that the readers didn't miss important elements. Some of the stuff in Recap 1 legitimately blew my mind because I hadn't picked up on it completely and only had the pieces floating around.
But compare that to now where we have to have all these big infodumps to explain everything and it just feels unnatural (not that big fourth-wall breaking recaps aren't as well). There's a few characters in particular that he very obviously uses for this express purpose, so it's not like a big secret. But sometimes it almost seems like he has to forfeit those characters' entire personalities just to explain what the hell is going on.

I don't think that's a fault of Hussie so much as how crazy large the scope of the story has become, combined with the unique medium for showing the story, and the sheer amount of exposition he needs to convey, but I don't think I had fully realized how many ways Homestuck had fully changed since the first few acts. It makes sense, because I remember him saying at some point something like the first four acts were about questions and Act 5 was meant to bring answers. Act 6 seems to be somewhere in between at this point, although it feels like the story could go literally anywhere from here. Including a semi-remake of Jailbreak, apparently.

The site is called MsPaint Adventures, and the stories are structured like adventure games, if you haven't figured it out already. The author makes it a point to make the "interface" as baffling as possible as a joke about adventure game logic.

So all of this "dicking around" is the player (who, in the early stages, were the readers actually giving John commands) trying to figure out the inventory system. It's......variable in relevance, depending on what's going on in the story. You'll get the hang of "how" to read Homestuck eventually.

Act 1 is not that bad. At the start it's really goofy because it's the readers messing around but once the game boots up the "plot" starts getting interesting. And it doesn't even take that long to get that far.

Then again, I read Problem Sleuth first so I knew it was going to start goofy and then quickly get even more elaborate and ridiculous. And it did! Even faster than in Problem Sleuth, too, at the End of Act 1. So I knew what to expect. Well.........a mere fraction of what to expect.

I want to say Act 1 is like 200-250 pages long? Not sure. You will know what act you are in because they all have clearly defined ending and starting points. There's not really a way to judge unless you look at the map or log (which may contain spoilers), but I think once John starts playing the game you're about 1/3 to halfway done, and that's where the mechanics of the plot get interesting. Act 1 is not very long, so just soldier through it. It's not Umineko tier of "GET ON WITH IT" at the very least.

Personally, while it picks up slightly in Part 1, I think when it really starts to get great is the End of Act 2. Which I think is 500 pages, about twice the length of the first act.

He's very plutonian in the sense that he's wealthy and also in the sense that he's sexually deviant. Gayness is built into Batman. I'm not using gay in the pejorative sense, but Batman is very, very gay. There's just no denying it. Obviously as a fictional character he's intended to be heterosexual, but the basis of the whole concept is utterly gay. I think that's why people like it. All these women fancy him and they all wear fetish clothes and jump around rooftops to get to him. He doesn't care-he's more interested in hanging out with the old guy and the kid.

Apparently he gave an interview for Playboy and said some crazy Morrison things. I want to read it but.........Playboy magazine. <_<
