Visiting a mall a week before it closes is a surreal experience I'd recommend to everyoneI know what you mean. It's also kind of sad.
there's something ominous about the faint echo of the music in a large, empty space
Neither are looking bleak here in Los Angeles. Malls and theaters are still packed every weekend. We had to buy tickets for Wicked a week in advance to get seats in time. You really like going to both of them still? I like malls more than theaters
But if one died first, it would definitely be malls.
You really like going to both of them still? I like malls more than theatersI don't care for malls really, the department stores in them overcharge. But a lot of AMC locations happen to be in malls. So I see all of the people walking around while on my way to the movie
You people must frequent some really obscure, rural malls or something. Most of the malls here have restaurants and movie theaters, so they're still bustling. But I have also seen a mall die. There was a mall called the Hawthorne Plaza, which was in the southern part of LA County. It opened in 1977 and closed down in 1999. It's still there, 25 years later, sitting empty.
Malls can have restaurants and those will never go.
